Jessica and Kelsie returned back to their normal lives, two weeks later.
The incident of two weeks ago was never brought up nor approached.
"My God, Kelsie, we got the contract" Jessica screamed immediately she saw the contents of the package.
Early that morning, as soon as they arrived at their companies which were sited opposite each other and somehow connected, a package arrived for Jessica to sign.
Three years ago, the girls had decided that they were going to merge their businesses together but in a unique way. After looking at their odds, they took the idea to Mr Ryan, Kelsie's dad.
Mr Ryan listened to their proposal and got an architecture to come and help them construct the building they had in mind.
Jessica and her parents never got along well because she was adopted. She found out when she met a woman that was in charge of the orphanage she grew up in. Due to Jessica's generosity, the woman opened up to her and told her everything. The only information held back was that of her real parents as the woman did not know.
Jessica's parents trained her in school to take over her father's business but her refusal to carry it out made the father distance himself farther away.
"We got the contract for what exactly Jesse" Kelsie asked as she walked in from the adjoining office.
Jessica came out of her reverie and replied " The contract Kels to oversee the construction company for R and D enterprises".
Hearing the good news and seeing her bestie so proud of her, Kelsie screamed and hugged her best friend. "We did it bestie, we got the contract they said we could not get ". Let's tell Dad the good news ". She suggested happily as she picked up her phone and dialed her father's phone number.
Ever since Kelsie and Jessica became Best Friends, Kelsie's family accepted Jessica into their homes and lifes as if she was their daughter to begin with. Whatever they got for Kelsie, they get almost the same thing for Jessica, the difference might be the colors.
Soon after, they started buying the same thing because the girls started exchanging a lot of things that they started putting on the same clothes, behaving like twins.
" You guys got the contract" Mr Ryan said as his daughter's voice came on.
" Yes dad, we did"
" Put Jesse on the phone" Mr Ryan requested.
" Hi Mr Ryan, how are you doing" Jessica said as soon as she took the phone.
Mr Ryan got sad after hearing what Jessica called him. He knew what the girl had gone through. He and his wife were looking for a way to seek her permission to adopt her because he realized that in all the years he has known her, she had never spoken like one that had parents.
" Mr Ryan….., what happened to Dad, Jesse. I thought we agreed that you were going to start calling me daddy" Mr Ryan said unhappily.
Jessica got teary eyed. She smiled and spoke into the phone again " Hi dad, how are you doing, how is work going ".
Kelsie looked up from what she was doing, surprised at what she just heard, smiled and continued sorting out the paperwork on her bestie's desk.
" Everything is going great, I just heard that my daughters snatched the contract right underneath everyone's eyes"
" Yes dad, the package came in this morning but I wanted to open it with Kels by my side ".
The voices fade into the background as Kelsie continued watching the conversation going on between her dad and her bestie as she smiled. She pictured Jesse five years ago and went to the conclusion that Jesse has grown up and she grew up very well.
She was happy that Jesse did not become like her daddy wanted her to be. She liked this Jesse. The Jesse from school was unapproachable. She watched her put the phone down and smiled at her " well, what did daddy say".
Jessica walked to her desk, raised her best friend up then hugged her. She had always marveled at how Kels likes calling her anytime her family shows up and always referring to Mr Ryan as their dad. " He said as soon as we got the date for us to fly out, we should let him know".
Kelsie slowly removed herself " I suggest we go celebrate this contract, six months is not a small thing". She said cheekily.
"You are a very smart woman, I thought you would never ask" Jessica replied.
They hurried into Apple's café. The owner of the shop was a friend of theirs from college ( University ). They sat at their favorite spot next to the window and ordered their favorite.
As they munched , they had a pad and pen besides themselves. They asked each other the same question and came up with different answers in their notepad. They both knew that joining their heads together was much better than doing it all alone.
After eating, they went to the rooftop of Apple's Café to see the view. Kelsie ordered a champagne and Jessica ordered for Apple juice. They stayed at the café from lunch time to dinner time as they kept on plotting, drawing and sketching out the plans for their accomplishment.
They spent the rest of the evening eating, dining and celebrating.
As soon as their got home, their realized that they were late. Kelsie's parents were already fast asleep. They saw some food on the table with drinks. They sat down quietly to eat. They never had a serious dinner at the Café as both of them ordered for salads to keep their head brimming with ideas.
Before Jessica could pick up her spoon, she saw a note and showed it to Kelsie.
The note read " We realized that you must be hung up in the office and that is why you guys were late. We wanted to join in your celebration but your dad was too tired to stay awake. We both insist on seeing both of you tomorrow morning for breakfast so do not rush out like you usually do. See you both in the morning, Angels, do have a lovely night".
The note was signed "with love from mum and dad".
