Ivonne's POV
Grumbling an animalistic sound, I rolled on the soft mattress, the duvet wrapping me like cloak but I didn't care, as I enjoyed the relaxing feeling of having a good night's sleep.
Not sure if I was ready to get up yet, hence there was still some tinge of slumber hanging on my lids, I stretched my bones, groaning at the sensation it brought.
Eyes still closed, I lay flat on the mattress for some moments, the brightness of the morning sun causing a red hue behind my lids as it shined down on me from the window.
In the moments it took for me to decide if to get off the bed or not, I noted something different. My eyes immediately flashed open in realization and I turned to my side, coming to the terms that the other side of the bed was indeed empty.
My vision shifted from the bed to the clock and observed the time was climbing toward 10 am. Eyes widening, I jumped off the bed which backfired as I ended up rolling as a result of the duvet around my legs.
To my horror I ended up landing on the floor with a thud. A sound of shocked pain leaving my lips at the impact as my face scrunched up at the thought of my butt probably being sore.
It didn't help that Tobias had engaged me in a bit of a spanking session the previous night. I fucking loved it as it spiced up my sexual activities, however it seemed the universe wanted to make me realize I had made a bad decision by causing my fall.
'Get your ass off the fucking floor Ivonne,' a voice which sounded strange but familiar said in my head and that made my whole body go rigid. 'You are the Luna of a pack that hasn't had one in ages so you need to up your game by getting to work.'
I was silent for some moments, not daring to move a muscle for the fear of having heard wrong. My heartbeat accelerated in my chest and I was hesitant to believe it.
'Ria?' I called out the name fearfully.
'Yes it's me Ivonne,' the feminine voice in my head said. 'Now get up and get going.'
'Ria!' I exclaimed, excitement and joy taking over my whole being the assurance I just received.
'Stop screaming my name Ivonne,' her sultry laugh filled my head after her warning and I scrambled to my feet. It took a while to get rid of the sheet wrapped around my legs, nonetheless I succeeded, resulting to jumping up and down in glee.
"Luna?" A knock came at the door, the voice of one of the guards reaching my ears. "Are you alright? We heard a thud and now thumping sounds. Should we come in? Are you in any danger? Or maybe need help?"
"I'm fine Patrick," I assured, stopping my shenanigans and instead sat on the bed, my palms covering my mouth as my lips threatened to split from how wide my smile was.
'Thank you so much Ria,' I murmured in all honesty, my heart filled with appreciation at her reappearance. 'Really Ria, I don't know how I survived without you.'
'You seemed to be doing fine than everyone expected,' she mumbled in observation, meaning she had been aware of all the happenings in my life. 'Than I expected'
'I had to be strong and stand for myself when no one could,' I heaved, recalling the dark times. 'Even my wolf deserted me so I had no option.'
'I apologize Ivonne,' she uttered apologetically and I could feel her remorse. She was part of me so it was possible. 'Also I'm glad I did though.'
'Why so?' I questioned, gazing unseeingly at the wall in front of me. If anyone walked in I might seem crazy because of the changes in my facial expression as Ria and I had a serious conversation in my head. Her presence welcoming and comforting.
'Because if I hadn't left you all alone,' she began. 'You wouldn't have seemed out Tobias, another Alpha and your current mate.'
'Oh,' I let out in my head.
'Yes,' she affirmed. 'I guess it all turned out for the best.'
'I guess it did,' I repeated, agreeing with her. A grin spreading on my lips as my teeth shone. 'Especially now you are back.'
'Especially now I am back,' she said and I giggled as she replied in the same manner I did earlier. 'We've got a lot to catch up on girl.'
'Of course,' I beamed. 'I'm totally ready and willing to give you all the details.'
'I felt and saw things happening, nonetheless I'd like to hear it from the horses mouth,' she went on to say.
'That won't be a problem,' I assured.
'I really need a run,' she said out of the blue and I felt overwhelmed all of a sudden at the thought of going for a run in my wolf form.
Ever since Ria was broken, there was no way I could do that. I tried running through the woods once in my human form one time to clear my head after one of Lincoln's episodes, rather it never felt the same.
'Me too Ria,' I sniffed. 'Me too.'
^^^^^^^
It was late in the afternoon and I had finally gathered myself after my squealing and excited morning spree with Ria. We spent hours catching up and it was finally noon before I had my bath.
Tobias and I hadn't run into each other since the previous night. He was absent when I woke and when I asked the guards while leaving the room, they informed me he had gone to the human city to inspect his factory there.
Hours had rolled by and it was almost evening, to say I was in a good mood would be an understatement because only the heavens knew how happy I felt.
I got weird looks during my trek to the pack house where my new office was finally set up and functioning. My grin was too wide on my way that it seemed alarming.
Standing, I bent over the desk as I tried to organise the numerous documents, case files and plans I had written down in order to help the pack in the best way.
I was too tired yesterday to arrange any of them after we had fitted everything into the place and did some last minute cleaning and dusting.
The desk was a mess when I showed up to work thus I had advised no one to touch them. After spending over 30 minutes trying to get things in order I figured I should have asked for help yesterday or maybe I ended an assistant.
"I can see you are settling into your new office," Tobias announced as the door creaked to let him in and his footsteps led him toward me. "I stopped by earlier but you weren't in."
"Same way you weren't in bed when I woke up but you don't see me complaining now, do you?" I feigned an angry tone as I raised my head and stared at his handsome face and body clad in long-sleeved red and black stripes shirt with black slacks.
"Yeah my bad," he said, sounding unapologetic but decided to let it slide. "I'm certain the guards informed you about what came up."
"They did," I told and shrugged. "It would have been nice if you told me though."
"Skipped my mind," he blurted in a smile. "Speaking of work, I'd be going for a trip this evening." "Trip?" I quizzed in surprise as it was my first time hearing him say that.
"Yes sweetheart," he affirmed. "I'll be back in a week."
