Ivonne's POV
I stared backwards through the window as the car rolled away from the airport. It was 6 pm in the evening and Jarvis and I with a few warriors had just dropped Tobias and Reed at the airport.
After he had informed me at my office, I had continued organizing the documents till he mindlinked me to come home. I did and to my surprise he asked me to guide him in packing the right clothes.
It was crazy how his behavior marveled me each day thus it was always contrary to what I had expected. There were times though he was stern and adamant but most of the time he was kind of carefree and easygoing with me.
After packing, it was time to load the car which we did. When we headed to the airport, he had drove I, Jarvis and Reed. Throughout the drive he had given out specific orders to Jarvis and to me, bits of advice which he had said would come handy to me in his absence.
Once again, I had the eerie feeling he was being too extreme as if preparing for the worst as he made sure the probability was there that he may not return.
I was troubled and the question was almost at the tip of my tongue, rather I couldn't let it out as we got busy with escorting him and the next thing he was boarding.
Ria had assured me he'd be fine and I tried to take her words to heart as the vehicle swerved along the paths that brought us back to the pack grounds.
"Missing him already?" Jarvis asked from the driver seat where his body was encased in a long-sleeved brown vest and jeans, his long brown eyes which were a bit darker than mine, bestowing me a swift glance as I released a sigh.
"I guess," I said in a shrug and continued to stare out the window. The streets had began to go empty as shops and restaurants started closing up for the day.
A few were still bubbling and some appeared as if they were getting ready for the night life, however majority of people happened to be retiring after a day's work.
"He'd be back before you know it," Jarvis murmured in a reassuring tone and I simply nodded in response.
I knew I was being a bit closed off as he tried to lighten the mood or make us have a conversation, nonetheless it wasn't working out as I happened to be lost in my head.
For some reason I couldn't shake off a strange feeling of danger creeping up my spine. It was fleeting at first, rather as the minutes ticked by it became a bit clearer and I started to get unnecessarily anxious, a trait I wished I'd never had.
"We are here," Jarvis announced as he turned of the engine, our gaze meeting briefly before we unlocked our doors and got down. I walked around the hood of the car to observe him waiting for me. "Here's the key."
"Thank you Jarvis," I mumbled, hoping he'd catch the hidden apology I tried to send across.
"No problem," he beamed and gestured to the entrance of the place which had become my home, 'Tobias mansion.'
"Have a nice night," he bid me as I took steps toward the house. "Also I pray you don't get scared. As you can see, he had made sure to reinforce the security around the house. So you'd be fine."
"I will," I cracked a smile. "I'm a big girl you know."
"We know," he chuckled and with a salute, bowed out and turned around to stroll in the direction to his place of rest.
"You are back Luna," Lora greeted and got up from her sitting position on the couch the moment I stepped foot into the living room.
"Don't worry, sit," I urged her back to her previous position. "He's not home so you can feel as free as you want. Not too free though."
"I wouldn't dare Luna," she assured and did my bid, the skirt she had on flaring at the sides as she lowered her body on the couch.
"Welcome Luna," Annalise greeted, appearing through the kitchen door, a tray of food in her hand, a nice aroma emitting from the plates placed on it.
For a moment I was lost as I recalled Tobias doing the same thing the previous day. A bit of nostalgia washed over me and I had to shake my head to get rid of it.
"Luna?" Lora called in question, her hand brushing my arm. "Oh sorry," I blurted in apology. "Did you say something?"
"Analise dished out the food and said everything is set," Lora explained, eyes narrowing at me a bit in worry.
"Okay," I forced a smile and strolled away from her to the dining area. "This smells great Annalise."

"You need to sign this Luna," Jarvis declared as he walked into Tobias's study in the our house.
It had been four days since Tobias went on his business trip and I couldn't in anyway wait for his return. Why was I in his study you may ask and not at my new office or his back at the pack house.
Well it was because I needed to escape. It all seemed like many issues arose in the pack once the Alpha was temporarily absent. Disputes broke out between friends and brothers all over stupid things that I had to wonder if it was a prank at some point.
Mothers brought their troublesome kids over for punishment and advise and was really impressed at how Tobias managed to remain cool and collected after facing such problems.
With my Luna duties and his Alpha responsibilities I had to find a hiding place which wasn't easily accessible and Jarvid had tipped me off with the answer, which was his study.
No one dared to come within a close distance to the house and I finally understood why Tobias had set it up.
Jarvis and Ivonne seem to have a friendship and so they discuss matters and handle issues in his absence. Jarvis cleared his throat and my stare shifted from the desk to his face.
"What document?" I implored, taking it from him to examine it. In the days that followed Jarvis and I had grown to be good working partners and somewhat friends.
We discovered we had things in common aside from our brown eyes and that had strengthened our connection. We had split the tasks after much contemplation.
As the Beta, he had been permitted to handle issues at the Alpha's office and bring the report to me for review and signing. It made everything easier and it was amusing how we never thought of it in the first place.
"The document concerning the land dispute between those two brothers," he revealed, sliding his hand into the pocket of the grey sweatpants he wore beneath a black vest, hair disheveled and eyes dull.
"You look a mess," I chuckled in observation from behind the desk and slid the document toward me.
"I am an embodiment of a mess," he laughed with me, scratching his head, the action provoking his black hair strands to look more disheveled.
"They have both agreed to compromise," I said as I read the contents of the document, their statements and final conclusion.
"Hopefully they stick to the agreement," he uttered in a sigh. "I fucking can't wait for Tobias to return."
