Jason's POV
The Hogwarts Express rolled to a stop, steam billowing across the platform as students disembarked with trunks and pets in tow. Amidst the bustle, I spotted a familiar figure waiting by a sleek black car—David, MI6's finest chauffeur.
"David!" I called out, dragging my trunk behind me.
He raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed. "Jason. brat how you doing?"
"Not just any brat," I said, smirking. "Your boss's grandson. I believe that makes me royalty in this car."
David chuckled dryly, opening the car's boot for my trunk. "Still got that sharp tongue, I see. Careful, Jason—it'll get you in trouble one day."
I slid into the car as he shut the boot with a heavy thud. "Trouble is half the fun, David. But how's your day been? Good, I hope."
"Oh, quite good, but cant say snything about my evening" he replied sarcastically. "Just chauffeuring brat around. Living the dream."
"Glad to hear it," I quipped. "Shall we?"
The car hummed along the road, the countryside rolling past in a blur.
"So," I began cautiously, "what's the mood with Q?"
David glanced at me in the rearview mirror, his expression half pity, half amusement. "Should've come home for Christmas, Jason. She's still stewing about it."
I winced. "That bad?"
"She made us work through the holidays," he said with a groan. "'A boy of eleven is out there have more drive than you lot,' she said. 'You've all grown lazy.'"
I couldn't help but laugh. "My condolences, David."
"Yeah, well," he said, shaking his head, "some of us didn't get any Christmas at all. Thanks for that."
"Happy to be of service," I said cheerfully as the car pulled up to my house.
Standing outside the door, I swallowed nervously. My grandmother, Q, wasn't the type to let things slide. I pushed open the door and made my way to the living room, where she sat, as formidable as ever, reading a file.
"Hello, Grandma," I said, trying to sound cheerful.
She didn't look up immediately, setting down her papers with deliberate precision. "Surrendering before I've even opened my mouth?" she asked, her tone sharp but amused. "What a shame."
I shrugged. "Figured it was wise to lay down my weapon."
"Good choice," she said, motioning for me to come closer. "Now, come here, you little bugger, and tell me everything about Hogwarts."
I launched into a recount of my first year.
"Quite an eventful year," she said when I finished. "Making friends, nearly getting haunted, and that horseshit house cup." She gave a small laugh before her expression turned thoughtful. "So, what are you planning to do with that ghost of yours?"
I hesitated for a moment. "I was thinking… it can move between mirrors, right? Could be used as a surveillance tool."
Her eyebrow arched. "Look at my grandson, thinking of weaponizing a ghost at the age of eleven. How charming."
I grinned. "I'm a good student. What can I say?"
Her tone turned more serious. "And what about what I've always taught you? Avoid causing unnecessary suffering where you can."
"I'm not planning to make the ghost my eternal slave," I said, leaning forward earnestly.
"But you're still hurting a being, even if it is a ghost," she countered. "One who's already suffered. Is this what I've raised you to do, Jason?"
I paused, choosing my words carefully. "Grandma, I'd release it in twenty or thirty years—once it's served its purpose. I'm not blind to its tragic past, but it's caused suffering to others. There's a reason its legend exists."
Jason then look at Q eye "so did i pass? "
She studied me, her sharp eyes piercing through my defense. Then, a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. "You always know when you're being tested. Yes, Jason. You passed."
I grinned. "Glad to hear it. I would need your help with my summer project…"
Her eyebrow arched again. "What project?"
"I want to learn Occlumency," I said simply.
Her gaze hardened. "That's no small undertaking , occlumeny would take the fun out of childhood Jason. Why?"
"Because secrets are currency," I said, meeting her eyes. "And I'd rather not have mine stolen."
For a moment, she was silent, then she leaned back in her chair. "Fair point. Let's get started."
