The Ravenclaw table buzzed with the usual morning chatter, plates piled high with eggs, toast, and sausages. Freya, Padma, and Talia sat together near the middle of the table, their laughter blending with the clinking of cutlery and the distant flutter of owls delivering post.
It was a perfectly ordinary morning—until the boys arrived.
Josh, Vik, Tobi, Simon, and Jason approached the table, their eyes heavy with dark circles, their expressions a mix of exhaustion and lingering unease.
Padma was the first to notice. She raised an eyebrow, her gaze flicking between them. "So, boys… what's with the black eyes? Did you all decide to pull an all-nighter?"
The boys exchanged a quick, conspiratorial glance before speaking in unison, their voices tinged with accusation: "Jason."
Talia's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "Jason? What did you do to them?"
Jason shrugged nonchalantly as he sat down, pouring himself a glass of pumpkin juice. "Oh, nothing much. Just played a little ghost game. They couldn't handle it."
Freya leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. "Jason, you've been naughty. Look at the state of them! What on earth did you do to scare them that much?"
Tobi shook his head, his expression serious. "It's better if it stays with us."
Simon, picking at his toast, muttered, "I'm never playing anything Jason suggests again. Ever."
Vik frowned, looking at Jason. "You should explain what happened."
Josh, who had been unusually quiet, finally snapped, "Vik, you know it was real. Don't even try to deny it."
Padma, now thoroughly intrigued, rested her chin on her hand. "Come on, guys, don't keep the good stuff to yourselves. Tell us what happened!"
Vik hesitated, his mouth opening as if to speak, but Tobi quickly clapped a hand on his shoulder. "No, mate. Let us be the only cursed ones. What if they get caught up in it too?"
Jason rolled his eyes. "Guys, for the hundredth time—it's not real."
Simon snorted, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Right. You keep telling that, Jason. It's the only way I'm getting through today."
Talia, not one to be left out, crossed her arms and leaned toward them. "No, no, no. You have to tell me. I want to play too!"
Simon shook his head firmly, his voice unwavering. "Sorry, Talia. This is officially a 'guy thing' now. Vik, don't tell anyone."
Vik glanced between Simon and Talia, then sighed. "Alright, mate."
Talia pouted, glaring at Simon. "Fine. Be like that. I don't even want to know anymore."
Freya, reached over to pat Talia's hand. "Look at what you've done, boys. You've upset her. Talia, don't let them ruin your mood. They're just being ridiculous."
Talia huffed, flipping her hair dramatically. "I'm not upset."
Despite the tension, the group eventually settled into breakfast, though Padma wasn't ready to give up just yet. She casually leaned toward Vik, trying to catch him off guard. "So, this game… what's it called?"
Vik froze, but Simon elbowed him lightly. "Don't even think about it, Vik."
Jason smirked, watching Padma's frustration grow as she failed to extract any details.
Across the table, Josh suddenly stood, brushing crumbs off his robes.
Jason raised an eyebrow. "Where are you off to, Josh?"
Josh straightened his shoulders, his expression determined. "To see Professor Flitwick. I want to learn a spell to deal with ghosts."
Tobi's eyes widened. He scrambled to his feet. "Wait! I'm coming with you."
Jason glanced at Vik and Simon, who both exchanged weary looks before sighing in unison.
"Let's go," Simon muttered, standing up.
Vik followed reluctantly, leaving the girls at the table.
Freya, Padma, and Talia watched as the boys walked off together, their postures tense and their whispers hurried.
Talia turned to Freya, her brows furrowed. "What do you think they played last night?"
Padma leaned back in her seat, shaking her head. "Whatever it was, it's got them spooked. I mean, Josh wants to learn ghost-repelling spells? ."
Freya sighed, taking a sip of her pumpkin juice.
Talia grinned. " we're getting it out of them. No way am I missing out on whatever this was."
Padma smirked. "Agreed. Boys and their secrets never stay hidden for long."

The boys walked briskly through the corridors of Hogwarts, their robes swishing with each step. The morning light barely reached the stone walls, giving the castle a faintly ominous feel. Josh led the group, his determination unwavering, with Tobi, Simon, Vik, and Jason trailing behind.
Jason, with his usual smirk, leaned toward Simon. "So, you think Flitwick's going to teach us a ghostbusting charm?"
Simon rolled his eyes. "I just hope he doesn't think we're mad."
When they arrived at Professor Flitwick's office, the door was slightly ajar. A warm, cheerful voice called out, "Come in, come in!"
The boys stepped inside, finding the diminutive professor perched on a stack of books behind his desk. His face lit up with excitement as he greeted them. "Ah, first-year boys! What a delightful surprise. To what do I owe this unexpected visit?"
Josh wasted no time. "Professor, we need your help. Last night, we... we played this game, and we might have summoned a ghost."
Flitwick tilted his head curiously, his smile fading slightly. "Summoned a ghost, you say? Go on."
Jason stepped forward, his tone casual. "It was a muggle game, sir. You look into a mirror, say the name of a vengeful ghost—'Blood Mary'—and apparently, she's supposed to appear. Some of us… well, some of us think we saw her."
Simon quickly added, "And we'd really like to know how to deal with ghosts. Just in case."
Flitwick listened intently, his fingers steepled as he nodded. When they finished, he chuckled softly. "My dear boys, let me assure you—there's no ghost at Hogwarts that would dare harm you. This castle has been a haven for peaceful spirits for centuries. Even Peeves, as mischievous as he is, poses no real danger."
The boys collectively sighed in relief, but Flitwick raised a finger, his tone turning serious. "That being said, ghosts in the wild—especially vengeful or malevolent spirits—are an entirely different matter. They can interact with the physical world in ways that are… unpleasant. It's wise to be prepared."
Flitwick hopped down from his chair, retrieving a slim, leather-bound book from a shelf. Placing it on the desk, he opened it with a flourish. "Let me share some knowledge that may be useful in your studies. Now, remember, these spells are primarily defensive and may not work on all spectral entities."
He pointed to the first spell in the book.
"The Patronus Charm.
While its primary purpose is to repel Dementors, it can also act as a barrier against malevolent spirits. If you ever encounter a dangerous ghost, casting a Patronus could give you the protection you need. The incantation is Expecto Patronum. The wand movement? A swirling motion, followed by a strong thrust forward, but its too advance for you now "
Josh scribbled notes furiously, while Tobi nodded intently.
"The Banishing Charm," Flitwick continued, "can be used to push ghosts or poltergeists away temporarily. It won't harm them, but it can create space. The incantation is Depulso, and the wand movement is a sharp jab forward."
Vik frowned slightly. "But wouldn't that just make them angrier?"
Flitwick smiled. "Possibly. Which is why you must use your judgment wisely. Now, the Lumos Duo spell—essentially a brighter version of Lumos—can sometimes disturb or repel ghosts in dark or cursed locations. The incantation is Lumos Duo, and the wand movement is an upward flick and hold."
Simon leaned forward. "What about really aggressive ghosts?"
"For that," Flitwick said, his expression more solemn, "there are advanced defensive spells like Protego Horribilis, a warding charm against malevolent forces. But these are beyond your current level. I recommend you read Spectral Secrets: A Wizard's Guide to Ghostly Encounters for more information."
Flitwick closed the book with a snap, his cheery demeanor returning. "Does that help ease your worries?"
Tobi gave a small smile. "Thank you, Professor. That really does help."
As they left Flitwick's office, the boys exchanged glances, their earlier fear replaced with a mix of relief and determination.
"We should hit the library," Josh said, clutching his notes. "If we're going to learn these spells, we need to practice."
"Agreed," Tobi said, though he glanced nervously over his shoulder as if expecting Bloody Mary to appear.
The group made their way to the library, where the towering shelves seemed to stretch endlessly. The air was thick with the scent of old parchment and ink. Jason led the way, scanning the spines until he found the section Flitwick had mentioned.
"Here it is," Jason said, pulling down a hefty book labeled Spectral Secrets. He placed it on a table, and the group gathered around, flipping through the pages.
Simon frowned as he read. "Some of these spells are seriously advanced. We're going to need help if we want to cast them properly."
Jason smirked. "Don't worry. We've got all year to figure it out. And anyway, it's not like Bloody Mary's going to come ."
Josh shot him a look. "You say that now, but I'm not taking any chances."
Tobi shivered. "Neither am I."
