Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The 12th hour

"You're going to be okay. I promise that you're gonna be healthy and fine, and you will be discharged in just a few days."

(Beep beep beep beep)

"Mam! Mam! Please take a deep breath! You need to teach yourself to lie on the bed with a straight posture."

(Screaming sounds)

"Nurse, please do something! Just wait a little bit—the doctor is coming for the operation."

(Running steps on the floor)

"Nurse Anna, hurry up! Check her vitals!"

"It's already done, Doc."

"Mam, it's gonna be painful, but you need to bear it for a second."

"Doctor, this is my second baby. This is my first son, Ivan. I had a miscarriage after his birth. His father… well, I don't want to talk about that. Doctor, do anything you want, but I want to see my child alive, playing in my arms. He's my only hope for living now."

(Suddenly, a state of absurdity filled the ICU. Doctors and nurses perceived that Ivan's mother didn't seem fond of her first child much, as he was the only...)

Ivan didn't change his facial expression. He kept consoling his mother, but she didn't flinch at all at his words or even respond.

At the CBD (Central Business District)

"Captain, do you think you're getting along with this magic and elemental stuff?"

(Legzer spoke in a mocking manner.)

In just the blink of an eye, a flying mechanized steam rifle appeared in the captain's hands.

"Son, you just might not live long enough to be getting along with stuff after I hit you with this heavy steamy rifle. It'll pierce your body at double the speed of light with no evidence of what hit you or from which gun."

"Ok, ok, Captain, cool down. I see you just wanted to show off your Aetan rifle. You know I can make one of those for you at the original price and for free if you—"

"Never mind. Excuse me, we are here for a job, not for sales and purchases."

(Honk honk)

(Driver in a heavy truck)

"Hey, cat! Hurry up and cross the road! Can't you see I have work to do?"

"Is he talking to a cat?"

(Legzer)

"Yes, you know, mage stuff."

"Our day is not gonna be fine if you believe black cats are a bad omen, Legzer."

"Why not? I still have a black cat, and I'm not promoted yet."

"For promotion, Legzer, you know what to do… you know what I mean."

Back at the Hospital

"Man, you have to wish harder."

"I am trying, trying—"

(Suddenly, the doctor started screaming.)

"Mam! You're not trying!"

(The demeanor of the nurses and doctors changed in a second. Everyone became irritated. Ivan became curious.)

"Something's not right here."

(Doctor)

"What's not right is your mother's condition right now."

"Mam!"

(Screaming and the sound of horns came from outside.)

(Ivan)

"Something's wrong…" (Ivan's brain collapsed but regained consciousness in a few seconds.)

"Something… something is wrong with the sound frequency."

At the CBD

"Captain, Captain! What's going on here? I'm starting to feel dizzy."

"Not again."

(Captain)

"Aren't the mages secretly doing something this time? We told them before that we shouldn't hold any secret machinery or magical techniques from each other, but they don't listen."

"It's the 12th hour now. The mage, Captain Blanka, should be here by now."

(A voice called from the distance)

"You called my name?"

(Blanka arrives.)

"Blanka! Tell me this isn't your doing."

"Not mine. There's a sudden change in sound frequency. It's like something is trying to come inside but couldn't."

(In the blink of an eye, huge blobs start appearing in the sky. The sky seemed filled with blobs like mother's wombs.)

(Captain)

"Blanka! What is this thing?"

"You should check and alert the others."

(A distant voice appeared from the sky.)

"We can't get inside! I told you, skipping dimensions isn't our thing. Now we are stuck here, like a baby in a mother's womb."

"But you're a grownup baby!" (Another voice responded.)

"And you're dying! You should cut it open rather than push yourself out."

"And let the sky scream in pain and agony? Let the people of the spectrum know that something is coming for them? I'd rather say mischievous guests."

"Yeah, that's right. Sounds interesting."

(Dark and green long arms started appearing from the inside of the huge blobs in thousands.)

(Sssss…)

"My arms are hurting. I can't take it anymore!"

(One long arm, laced with heavy blades strong enough to melt metal, pierced his head.)

"Then let me relieve you from your pain."

(The voice grew louder as a massive shower of green and red fluid rained down, emitting horrifying sounds.)

(Blanka)

"Captain! It seems like these creatures aren't used to this atmosphere, especially the sound frequency. It's like their blood doesn't know how to make a sound, and now it's emitting horrible noises."

"It's not good."

(Captain)

"Legzer, don't say anything. Lacy, prepare my steam suit. Let them taste the sound in the air."

(Legzer)

"Here we go again, seeing our steamy captain handling things alone."

"Blanka, indeed, has powers, but even he can't handle alone what's coming."

(Legzer)

"Your soldiers should also get ready."

"What about your mages, Blanka?"

"They'll be here in any minute."

Back at the Hospital

(Ivan murmured weakly as dizziness consumed him once more.)

"Not again. Ivan… Ivan…"

(Doctor)

"We're sorry. We couldn't save your mother or her child. I don't know—we put in all the effort, but something happened suddenly. I can't even remember it."

(Ivan, still unable to hear properly, saw his mother lying dead. He entered a state of trance, recalling past memories with her.)

(A huge creature crashed into the hospital building, breaking the ceiling of the top floor and landing on the 10th floor.)

(Ivan woke up from his trance to see a huge black, green, and red creature, double his size but in perfect, exquisite form.)

(The creature made horrible sounds, burning with fire and surrounded by steam. It landed upon his mother's bed, crushing her and a nurse beneath.)

*(The doctor attempted to run, but the creature's bare hands caught him, melting his face entirely without harming his body beneath the neck. The act of violence was disturbingly artistic.)
