The elevator doors hissed open, revealing a cityscape bathed in neon lights. Skyscrapers stretched endlessly into the sky, their surfaces covered in glowing advertisements for everything from robot vacuums to genetically engineered pets. Hover cars zipped through the air, leaving trails of light in their wake, and the streets below buzzed with activity.
Greg's jaw dropped. "This is incredible! We're in the future!"
Alex adjusted his hoodie, squinting at the chaos. "More like a dystopia. Look at all the surveillance drones. This place screams 'corporate overlords.'"
Mallory yawned, stepping out of the elevator. "Great. A world that works harder than I do. Sounds exhausting."

Welcome to Neo-Lounge 77
Before they could take more than a few steps, a holographic projection materialized in front of them. It depicted a woman with metallic skin and glowing blue eyes, her voice smooth and robotic.
"Welcome to Neo-Lounge 77, travelers," she said. "Please state your business."
Mallory blinked. "Business? I was hoping to find a couch and maybe some snacks."
The hologram tilted its head. "Error. Couch and snacks not recognized as valid business."
Greg stepped forward. "We're just… exploring."
The hologram scanned them, its eyes flickering red for a moment. "Explorers flagged as 'low threat.' Proceed. But be warned: Unauthorized activity is punishable by immediate detention."
"Lovely," Alex muttered as the hologram disappeared.
Mallory groaned. "If this turns into a chore, I'm going back to the elevator."
---
As they wandered through the crowded streets, a hand suddenly grabbed Mallory's arm and pulled her into a dark alley.
"Hey!" she protested, trying to pull away.
"Quiet!" whispered a young woman with vibrant pink hair and a cybernetic arm. She looked like she had just stepped out of a sci-fi action movie, complete with a glowing visor and a leather jacket covered in LED patches.
Greg and Alex stumbled into the alley after Mallory, looking alarmed.
"Who are you?" Alex asked.
"The name's Kira," the woman said, glancing around nervously. "I'm with the Resistance. You shouldn't be wandering around out here. The Corp will target you as soon as they realize you're outsiders."
"Target us for what?" Greg asked, clutching his sword uselessly.
"For breathing, probably," Kira said dryly. "Look, I can take you to our safehouse, but you have to trust me."
Mallory yawned. "Is there food at this safehouse?"
Kira hesitated. "Uh… sure?"
"Then lead the way," Mallory said, waving her hand dismissively.
---
The safehouse turned out to be an underground bunker filled with mismatched furniture and a dozen people typing furiously on holographic keyboards. Screens displayed surveillance footage, maps, and lines of code that made Greg's head spin.
"This looks… intense," he said, edging closer to one of the screens.
Kira introduced them to the group's leader, a man named Dex who wore a pair of oversized VR goggles and chewed gum like his life depended on it.
"So, you're the newbies," Dex said, looking them over. "We could use fresh meat for our next op."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Mallory said, holding up a hand. "I didn't sign up for anything involving 'ops.' I'm here for snacks and maybe a nap."
Dex stared at her like she'd grown a second head. "You're joking, right?"
"She's not," Alex said, smirking.
Before Dex could argue, an alarm blared, and the room plunged into chaos.
"Corp drones are inbound!" someone shouted.
---
The bunker shook as mechanical footsteps echoed overhead. The others scrambled to grab weapons and activate defenses, but Mallory just sat down on the nearest couch, propping her feet up on the table.
"Do these invasions happen often?" she asked casually.
"Yes!" Kira snapped, pulling a plasma pistol from her jacket. "So unless you want to get arrested, move!"
The ceiling cracked, and a swarm of spider-like drones descended, their red eyes scanning the room.
"Targets acquired," one of them announced in a robotic monotone.
Greg screamed and swung his sword wildly, missing every drone. Alex fired arrows, managing to disable one, but it was Mallory who ended the fight with a single wave of her staff.
The drones froze mid-attack, their eyes flickering before they shut down completely.
"What just happened?" Kira asked, staring at the motionless machines.
Mallory shrugged. "I made them too lazy to function."
Dex gawked at her. "You can do that?!"
"Apparently," Mallory said, leaning back into the couch. "Can I get that snack now?"
---
After the drone attack, Dex and Kira were convinced Mallory was some kind of secret weapon.
"We need your help," Kira said, sitting across from her. "The Corp is planning a massive operation to enslave the entire city. We have to stop them."
Mallory groaned. "Can't you just, I don't know, hack into their systems and shut them down?"
Dex grinned. "That's the plan. But we need someone to infiltrate their HQ and plant the access key."
Everyone turned to Mallory.
"Nope," she said immediately. "Hard pass."
"Think of the people," Kira pleaded.
"I'm thinking of my nap," Mallory replied.
---
Despite her protests, Mallory found herself dragged into the mission. Kira and Dex outfitted her with a sleek, black bodysuit that was supposedly "state-of-the-art stealth tech."
"This is the opposite of lazy," she muttered as they pushed her toward the ventilation shaft that led into the Corp's headquarters.
Greg and Alex waited outside, their faces a mix of worry and amusement.
"You'll be fine," Alex called. "Just don't trip over anything!"
Mallory shot him a glare before crawling into the vent.
---
Inside the HQ
The Corp's headquarters was a maze of sterile white hallways and ominous security cameras. Mallory moved as slowly as possible, hoping her sloth magic would keep her undetected.
She accidentally wandered into a break room where two employees were arguing over a vending machine.
"It ate my credits!" one of them shouted.
"That's what you get for choosing the cheap snacks," the other replied.
Mallory grabbed a bag of chips from the counter and slipped out unnoticed, munching as she went.
---
Eventually, she reached the control room, where a holographic CEO sneered at her from a massive screen.
"You think you can stop me?" the CEO said, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Mallory sighed, twirling her staff. "Look, dude, I don't even want to be here."
The CEO laughed. "You're no hero. You're just a lazy—"
Before he could finish, Mallory activated her staff, sending a wave of blue energy through the room. The CEO's hologram flickered and disappeared, and every screen in the building displayed the message: System Shutdown.

Back to the Apartment
The Resistance celebrated their victory as Mallory slipped back into the elevator, ready to leave Cyberpunk City behind.
"Think they'll be okay without us?" Greg asked.
"They'll be fine," Mallory said, collapsing onto her couch. "Now, let's find a dimension with better snacks."
The elevator's display changed to: Next Stop: Magical Forest.
"Why do I feel like this is going to be another headache?" Alex muttered.
Mallory smirked, her eyes already closing. "At least it'll be their headache, not mine."
