"Let's start with the bad news," Davi said without much thought.
"Your body still hasn't recovered. At the very least, don't use your enhancement ability for the rest of the week."
"What happens if I use it?"
Amelia sighed. "Go ahead, try it."
Obeying her command, the boy attempted to activate his powers, but his body was quickly overtaken by a wave of intense nausea. Everything began spinning, and a sharp, excruciating pain coursed through him. He quickly deactivated <Love the King>.
"Don't worry. A week of rest and you should be fine. Just leave the next phase to Ember."
Suddenly, the boy remembered the redhead and noticed she wasn't nearby. Why hadn't she come to find him yet?
"Can you tell me if Ember is okay and where is she?" he asked, already attempting to stand up.
Amelia let out a deep sigh. "You should know when to rest and focus on yourself."
Despite her scolding tone, her face carried a charming smile. She couldn't help but like his persistent nature.
"But if that's what you want, I can send you to her. However, first, I need to ask you a few questions," she said, ignoring the good news she still hadn't delivered.
Then, she made a chair appear and sat down beside him, crossing her legs in a sensual manner.
"Questions?"
"Yes. First, I imagine you've obtained your second class. What is it?"
Davi hesitated as he stared at the woman in front of him. He wasn't sure if he could trust her, and he preferred to keep his powers a secret for as long as possible. He had revealed them to Ember easily, but that had been an exception because he knew he could trust her.
"Don't worry, I won't force you to tell me anything," she sighed in a gentle tone. "Or at least, that's what I would normally say." Her expression became more serious.
Amelia didn't like to use unnecessary force, nor did she usually meddle too much in the lives of her students. But times had changed, and she felt increasingly pressured to find a way to defeat that thing. That's why she became more aggressive:
"I know you may not trust me, but this is an order. Tell me what your second class is and what powers it grants you."
"Well, the class is called Harem King, and..."
"No jokes!" The principal quickly interjected.
"But I'm not joking," Davi protested. As usual, people found the name of his class absurd.
Even more unbelievable were the things he could do. Even someone as experienced as Amelia had never encountered anything like it. At most, there had been an instance where a grimoire was found inside the rift that could grant a single ability. However, a class that could do that was just absurd.
Since Davi hadn't used this power yet, there was no way to know if the ability granted would truly be powerful, but Amelia had a feeling it would be. Moreover, granting an ability was simply absurd.
Normally, these abilities were only obtained after advancing 5 to 10 class levels, at least until the 10th ability was reached. After that point, acquiring additional powers became much rarer, and it was a very select group that had surpassed level 15. Even Amelia hadn't acquired more than 20 abilities.
In other words, the
After hearing all of this, Amelia was naturally surprised by this student who had once again managed to surpass her expectations.
"Do you know exactly what I did to defeat Rowan?" And with the woman having finished her round of questions, the boy wanted to take his chance as well.
Indeed, his abilities had evolved, and with that, he could now choose between using 20% of his harem's power for 10 minutes, or using 25% for just 5 minutes. However, what he did in that fight was completely different. He used everything that Luna and Ember had, perhaps even more than that. But only for a moment.
That didn't make sense and went beyond what his class should allow. Even after thinking for a long time, he couldn't understand how that was possible. He had never been able to do something like that before.
Upon hearing the question, the woman thought for a while. She wasn't sure if she should reveal what she knew, after all, it was confidential information.
"I'm an educator, so I think I should give you a little lesson about the system. Just don't tell anyone else about this," she decided that it wasn't worth hiding. "What you see when you open your profile is a lie. Or rather, it's just an approximation of reality."
She continued her lesson, pointing out a somewhat obvious fact: it was hard to imagine that a person's strength or speed could be measured in such exact numbers. Moreover, if two people with the same speed stats raced, they wouldn't necessarily finish together.
In other words, stats were not absolute, but they did represent something. There was still a lot of research needed to truly understand the origin and workings of the system, but the current consensus was that they represented the current limit.
In other words, having 100 in strength meant that, by giving your all, you could produce a blow equivalent to 100 strength. There were still issues with this theory, as there were cases where people seemed to exceed that 100.
Perhaps, instead of being a maximum limit, that was the safe limit. Or maybe there were other factors influencing the result.
Similarly, people with abilities that had the same name and description often did different things with them. In this sense, what happened was that the effects weren't different enough to warrant two different names.
It was clear that humanity still didn't fully understand its own power, but one thing they were able to comprehend.
"So it's possible to exceed the limits of your abilities?" Davi asked, filled with hope.
"Yes, but it's not something simple. And obviously, there's a limit to it. In your case, your power allows you to borrow the power of others, but only for a period of time that represents how much your body can handle. But what if you reduced the time limit? Wouldn't that allow you to borrow more power?"
What they called complete mastery of an ability involved understanding its description and, from there, finding ways to control that power freely.
That said, there was still something very unique about the boy's case.
"But don't you think that's a bit strange? Let's say your body's limit is to handle 20% of Luna's power for 10 minutes; isn't it strange that the limit is exactly the same for Ember, who is much stronger?"
The reason for this contradiction was that Davi's power had been extraordinary from the start. Among all the known and recorded abilities, there was none with a similar effect.
There were buffs and transformations, but these increased the user's power proportionally to their own
"Do you know what mana is?" And changing the subject completely, the woman asked.
"Well, it's like the battery of the system, right? Like, if a fire mage rested, they could use the fireball ability 1000 times, but if they had used 50 firestorms before, they'd be able to use it only about 900 times," he quickly replied, remembering what he had read in the books.
And that amount of mana was largely represented by intelligence. So everyone had an individual limit on how much mana they possessed.
The strange thing was: even if all of Davi's mana were converted into power, he shouldn't be able to have a status increase equivalent to 20% of Ember's.
"So who do you think is paying the price for this?" Amelia asked.
Maybe it could be the girls in his harem? No, after all, they didn't experience any negative effects when he activated that ability. So there had to be some other entity paying the price for that power.
"And what do you think the limit of that entity is? Would you be able to use 20% of my power, for example?" Finally, she suggested in a playful tone, gazing at the boy in front of her with a sensual look.
