In the previous chapter, Solomon successfully neutralised the threat posed by the Dark Order, bringing a brief period of calm to the Victoria family. However, the winds of change never cease on the Honour Continent. Beneath the surface of this fragile peace, dangerous undercurrents are beginning to stir.
The morning sun bathed the Victoria family castle in its warm glow, but it could not dispel the heavy tension hanging in the air. Solomon stood on the castle's terrace, gazing into the distance, his brow furrowed with concern. The steward, Alfred, approached quietly, breaking the silence.
"You seem troubled, Master Solomon," Alfred said respectfully.
Solomon let out a small sigh. "Alfred, you've sensed it too, haven't you? Although the Dark Order has been destroyed, the dangers on the Honour Continent are far from over. Other forces are watching our family's rise with envy. They won't pass up an opportunity to weaken us."
"Indeed, sir. Recently, troubling reports have been coming in from the border regions. It appears these forces are deliberately provoking us," Alfred replied, his expression dark with worry.
At that moment, Elder Claude approached, his face marked by a solemn expression.
"Solomon, I've just received word. These forces have formed an alliance. They believe that, while we emerged victorious against the Dark Order, our losses have left us vulnerable. They see this as the perfect opportunity to strike," Elder Claude said gravely.
"What are they planning?" Solomon asked, his gaze unwavering.
"They've begun instigating skirmishes along the borders, attempting to encroach on our lands. Worse still, they're plotting something much more insidious—a scheme to overthrow our family's position on the Honour Continent," Claude replied, his fists clenched in frustration.
"Do they really think they can succeed?" Solomon's eyes flashed with anger.
"We cannot underestimate them, Solomon. The family is facing a precarious situation, and we'll need to confront it together," Claude said, placing a firm hand on Solomon's shoulder.
"I understand, Elder. But I'm facing a new challenge myself," Solomon admitted reluctantly.
"Oh? What sort of challenge?" Claude inquired, his concern evident.
"As my power grows, mastering the Sacred Codex has become increasingly difficult. I need a far greater source of energy to support my progress. But right now, the family's resources can no longer meet my needs," Solomon explained, frustration etched on his face.
Claude pondered this for a moment before speaking. "Perhaps you need to venture beyond the family's lands to seek new opportunities. The Honour Continent is vast and full of mysteries. Somewhere out there, you may find the key to breaking through."
"That's exactly what I've been thinking, Elder. I've decided to leave the family and journey across the Honour Continent in search of answers," Solomon declared, his tone resolute.
"This path will be fraught with danger. You must tread carefully," Claude advised, his voice tinged with worry.
"Don't worry, Elder. I'll take care of myself. My heart is steadfast, and I won't be easily defeated," Solomon replied confidently.
Later, Solomon returned to his chambers, where Lianna was already waiting for him. Her eyes were filled with worry.
"Solomon, are you really leaving? This journey will be so dangerous," Lianna said, holding his hand tightly, her voice trembling with emotion.
"My love, I have to go. Only by breaking through this bottleneck can I truly protect the family—and you," Solomon said, his gaze tender as he looked at her.
"I understand, but I can't help worrying," Lianna said, her eyes reddening with unshed tears.
"Don't worry, Lianna. I promise you, I'll return safely. When I overcome this challenge, no one will ever be able to threaten our family—or our love—again," Solomon reassured her, pulling her into a firm embrace.
At last, the time came for Solomon to bid farewell to his family and friends. Mounted on his steed, he slowly rode out through the gates of the family estate. Looking back, he saw the figures of his loved ones growing smaller and fainter, but the conviction in his heart grew ever stronger.
Yet, as Solomon departed, a shadowy figure appeared near the family castle, cloaked in darkness and obscured from view. The figure's voice was a low, sinister murmur:
"Hmm… so Solomon has left. This is an opportunity too good to miss…"
Who was this mysterious figure? What sinister plans were they hatching? And what dangers awaited Solomon on his journey into the unknown? The answers lay hidden in a veil of mist, leaving an ominous sense of unease hanging in the air.
