JOHANSSON TOWN...
MONDAY 8, JANUARY...
7:00AM...
Athena's POV...
Beep! Beep!! Beep!!!
Went my alarm clock, jotting me out of my deep slumber.
"Oh shut up!" I groaned hitting the clock to make it stop beeping. Almost immediately my door shuts open and a woman on a wheelchair rolled in.
"Wake up Athena, it's already two minutes past seven, you're going to be late for your first day at school." She reminded, her tone sounding slightly annoyed at me.
"But mom I'm so tired, can I just go tomorrow?" I whined as I sat up lazily.
"No Athena! We've extended it enough. Now c'mon, you're gonna be late, Jade's ready and she's already having her breakfast, so get up already!" My mom chastised.
"Alright, alright, can you leave now?" I told, a little rudely though not expecting an answer. She let out a sigh before she rolled out of my room and shut my door.
I still remained in my bed for the next few minutes, thinking about the shitty stuffs in my life.
Just how could everything have gone wrong so quickly?
Life really sucks!
Just months ago my mom could walk but not until my cruel and and inhumane father purposely hit her with his car while she was attempting to take my sister and I away from him after finding out that he was the villainous and all fearful lord of an underground mob- He was a wanted criminal that deals on all illegal businesses.
But what really breaks my heart is that after all we've been through in his hands, my mom still loves him. Even though she denies it, I can see it in her eyes. How can she still love that man?
After the incident, she spent over a week in coma and when she finally woke up it was confirmed that she was never ever gonna walk again.
She became a cripple overnight, but in spite of this, she still puts it all behind her because she loves him, she decided to continue living with him, under the same roof, the same room and on the same bed because she didn't want a broken home, she thought she could change him.
But my dad was a lost cause, he was ungrateful and he even started putting up an attitude or maybe that was who he truly was.
My mom's a wonderful woman and there are a lot of men out there wishing to have a woman like her in their lives but my mom remained with my dad who didn't love her, who didn't appreciate her. He's supposed to be there for her since he's the one who made her a cripple but he wasn't, instead he became cruel and brutal towards her and worse of all, he cheated.
He cheated so openly with no guilt or shame. My dad's true colors were horrible, it was as if he changed overnight after my mom found out who he was. Soon, the beatings began.
He would beat my mom up so mercilessly for no good reason not minding her condition and everytime Jade and I try to intervene, he beats us up as well. He treated us like trash, we were all traumatized.
My mom couldn't take it anymore and so she finally left with us and surprisingly, my dad didn't stop us this time. Maybe it was because my Aunt- who was my mom's only sibling, got involved in the issue and she's kinda rich and affluent. She wanted to deal with my dad but it was way too dangerous for us and I guess my Aunt Liliana just struck a deal with him that he should let us go and we wouldn't get in his hair, she wouldn't report him to the cops and my dad sorta agreed I guess.
We all decided to forget everything about him, but could we really? We still bore his surname and anytime we're called by it, it just reminds us of what we went through in his hands, but what could we do, they weren't divorced yet.
We moved to Johansson town late last year to start a new life. It was a large, nice and peaceful town and today Jade and I are starting our first day at the highschool we transferred to here in Johansson.
It was Aunt Liliana that gave us the house we're living in right now in Johansson, she barely visits, she's a really busy business woman. She's single with no kids and she's our breadwinner now, what could my mom do? Her life has been ruined by the one person she says she loves. We'd really be forever grateful to my aunt for helping us stand on our feets again.
But I still have one fear in my heart, the fear that one day my dad's gonna come back pleading and begging for forgiveness and my mom's just gonna accept him back, just like that, she really can because I know she's still in love with him. She really fell hard, man! If this is how love works then I never wanna fall in love-(KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!)
I was finally cut off my unending trails of thoughts by drastic knocks on my door.
I think I already know who it was, sigh.
"Come in! The door's not even locked jeez!" I yelled, then my sister came in angrily.
"Athena! What are you doing? Crazy! You're gonna get us late!" She barked at me.
"Why don't you go on your own? Why are you waiting for me?" I told getting off from my bed.
"I would have, but mom literally begged me that we should walk together since it's the first day." She replied much calmer now.
"Alright, alright, fine. I'll be done in a jiffy." I assured.
"You better!" She ended and left my room without even shutting my door.
I closed the door myself. What's her deal? Since when did she start caring about school? Oh yeah that's right! It's the first day, she probably wants to show off. By now, you can tell my sister was one of those highschool divas and she can't risk not becoming one in this new school.
I quickly freshened up and wore one of the uniforms I was given. Stupid uniform! The school I used to attend formerly didn't wear uniforms. I packed my long waist length neat blonde hair into a ponytail.
I cleaned up my room and got everything I'd need into my backpack and I finally left my room and went downstairs.
I saw my mom and the housekeeper in the kitchen. Oh, there's a housekeeper in the house, she takes care of my mom and the house, her name's Alina. She was hired by my aunt, she probably in her thirties and even though she doesn't live with us, she's kinda part of the family now.
The kitchen was an open space so I greeted them which they responded.
"Here's your lunch AND breakfast since you're already so late," Alina pointed out.
"Thank you," I told her, collecting my meals.
"LET'S GO!" Jade yelled, enough to pull all our ear drums out, then she walked out of the house.
"Bye mom, later Alina." I uttered and ran after her. I finally caught up with her and we were soon walking together.
I looked up at her and smirked, we never really do this often, you know, just me and her time.
I decided to break the awkward silence.
