The bell finally rang, signalling the end of maths class. I decided to ask Brittany what class she was having next.
"Oh English, You?" She responded.
"Biology." I replied.
We stood up and was about to walk out of the class but we were called by Mr. Larry.
"Is anything wrong sir?" Brittany asked first, respectfully.
"No problem ladies. I just wanted you Brittany to show Athena around. You're new too but you've been here for six months, you'd already know everything about Johansson high, right?" He questioned.
"Yeah, yeah right!" She replied.
"And you guys seem to be getting along. So why don't you give Miss Rydinger here a tour 'round the school," he suggested.
"Yeah sure, that won't be a problem." Brittany responded happily.
You know, I'm glad it was her. She's quite an exciting person.
"Okay, that'd be all," he dismissed us. We both went outside and shut the door.
"Okay. See you at lunch?" She told and I nodded.
She ran off to English class and I did the same before I run late again.
When I got there, I opened the door and walked in. The class had already began. I was late!
"Who are you?" Asked a lady who was the teacher. She looked like she was in her late forties.
"Uhm Athena Rydinger- I'm new." I quickly added that last part so she can go easy on me.
"You're late!" She grunted at me. I know that ...
"I know and I'm really sorry. It's all because of-"
"I don't have time for your insignificant excuses," she cuts in angrily.
"There's only one vacant seat in this class and that's with Dickson Thomson over there," she continued and pointed to a seat close to it sat a really hot looking guy, and our eyes met immediately I turned to look at that direction. I just turned away immediately.
"Well?" She questioned.
"Uh?" I asked confused.
"Go and sit down and stop disrupting my class!" She ordered.
"Right," I replied and began walking over to my seat. What's her deal? Did I snatch her husband from her or was I the reason he refused to kiss her this morning. Jeez! What an attitude!
I sat down but ignored the guy that was staring at me intently.
"Hi," I heard him say with a smile.
"Hi," I responded. There was something about his sea blue eyes that just reminded me about those emerald green eyes from earlier. His eyes were pretty, accompanied by a nice looking jet black hair, just like Brittany's- Silky.
But still, there was something about those emerald green eyes that just gets me thinking.
"I'm Dickson Thomson, as you've just heard, Athena Rydinger. But everyone calls me Dick," he said nicely.
"Well people can be cruel," I replied, referring to people calling him Dick.
He laughed.
"Nice to meet you new girl," he continued.
"Okay. Can I be allowed to focus now?" I questioned nonchalantly. No, it was more like I told him.
He realized I didn't want this conversation to go on any further. He fakes a smile before we both turned our attentions to the teacher.
I sighed in my mind. Glad that's over.
The rest of the day went well. I finally found my locker, Brittany showed me around the school and told me a lot of things about the school. It was a prestigious school indeed, with so many awards, trophies, medals and nominations lined up on its achievement list.
Brittany and I also talked about ourselves. Her family was middle class just like mine, she lived alone with her dad in Johansson town, she doesn't have any siblings and her mom's late. I can't imagine the feeling of that, but she still had a loving and caring father unlike me.
She's really fun to be with, she is a nice person. I wasn't really that transparent with her, I didn't tell her everything about myself- Don't judge me! I've since lost the ability to trust anyone.
Mostly, I didn't tell her much about my past, neither did I tell her anything significant about my dad. I just told her my parents were still alive but they're not together anymore. She did ask me why, but I just brushed it off. I went further to tell her that I was currently living with my mom and big sister Jade who also newly started school here in Johansson high.
School hours were finally over for the day. I bid Brittany goodbye and walked around till I finally found Jade who was with three other girls.
"Hey sister. Girls meet my baby sister, baby sister meet my friends Susan, Chills and Miles." Jade introduced us, not like I was interested.
I waved curtly at them and they just smiled at me. I didn't really like them, because yes, I do judge a book by its cover. They didn't seem like people that would add value to Jade's life. The Chills and Miles girls seemed like flirts and troublemakers whereby the only thing going through their minds were either how to make trouble, while the Susan seems the same only that how to look pretty, expensive and hot was also going through her mind.
Susan and Chills started checking me out, I noticed it. Then Susan whispered something into Jade's ear, then Jade's lips pulled up in a smirk. I don't really have time for this.
"Are you ready to go home now Jade? I'm off," I told.
"No I'm not. I'm gonna hangout with my friends for some while. You guys shouldn't wait up for me," she replied. Wait up for her? That means she was gonna be late and she just said she was just gonna hangout with them for a while.
'This sister of mine' I shook my head in my mind.
I don't do waiting up for her, that would be my mom, so I'll just let her know once I get home.
I began walking home alone. I can't believe Jade has made three friends if not more, just on the first day of school. I only interacted and conversed with Brittany, that Dick guy and... Oh right, that Wally boy.
My lips subconsciously pulled up in a smirk as I remembered what had occured between us, which was very unlike me, smiling while remembering a boy.
'Snap out of it Athena!' I yelled in my head.
I finally got home and met my mom and Alina watching TV. I greeted them which they responded, before I rushed to the kitchen to watch my hands and grab an apple.
"Athena, you didn't come home with Jade?" My mom questioned.
"I didn't. She's gonna hangout with a couple of new friends she made from school today. Oh, she'll be late, so don't wait up for her mom." I answered and started dashing up the stairs.
"And you, how was school today?" My mom continued.
"Interesting." Came my simple response before I disappeared upstairs and into my room.
Done with the apple, I trashed it in the trash basket in my room. I dropped my backpack and slummed on my bed.
I was literally so exhausted.
And before I dozed off, the last thing that came into my mind was those emerald green eyes and the last thing I thought about was that boy and what had occured. Once again, a smile appeared on my lips before I dozed off to the dream world.
