Chapter 2 - By God's Will?

<>

<>

"What is this?!" Cedric screamed into the void, the only thing accompanying him was this mysterious voice.

<>

Cedric had no clue what these words meant, but he did know that he died. He died and he did not care, after all, he died in service to the Lord.

And yet he did not find himself in front of the gates of heaven, no he found himself in the void, his only company a strange voice that echoed from all directions.

Cedric clasped his hands together and began reciting a prayer, God would not leave him in such a place after all.

<>

<>

The voice broke, it kept repeating the same phrase for some time before it continued once again.

<>

Numbers appeared before Cedric, and yet he did not know what they meant.

He understood his name name age and race, but he did not know what Class was about.

After all his entire life he was a Crusader first and foremost, he wouldn't consider himself more than that.

As these words left his mouth the voice continued.

<>

He understood it now, he was being judged, the voice must have been Emissary of God, and that was surely the reason he could not understand it completely.

He wouldn't resist anymore, he would embrace the voice of God, and he would let God guide him as he did his entire life.

He relaxed his muscles, his posture became less tense, and he fully enjoyed the voice of God.

<>

<>

As the voice stopped speaking, he finally understood the full meaning of its speech.

'It seems my prayer has worked, God has granted me the blessing of understanding His voice.' Cedric rejoiced.

It took him a moment to gather his bearing from the immense joy he felt that God had heard him.

"Lord, I lived my life in your service..." He spoke with conviction and zeal as before and yet the voice did not care, instead it continued calculating and assigning.

Cedric would not expect anything else, after all, he was just a mere servant of His will. No matter how zealous and loyal he was nothing in front of God.

<>

<>

He understood it now, these skills. They were his reward for the service. Oh, how he rejoiced.

<>

It made sense, after all, he was the most zealous soldier of God.

<>

This one confused him, and yet he accepted it. It was a gift of God after all and it was not his place to question His will.

<>

Cedric felt himself become more powerful, his body growing stronger than he was by order of magnitude.

<>

<>

"What??" He asked a question into the void and yet no answer came back. He surrendered himself once again, as he felt himself become more and more powerful. for what purpose he did not know.

<>

Such an honor... Cedric couldn't believe his ears, he was to be granted the honor of being God's Apostle.

But he was interrupted by the voice once again.

<>

<>

"Such an honor..." Cedric could barely contain his joy, not only had he become an Apostle but he was granted the honor of becoming God's Chosen.

"I shall not fail you, Lord!" Cedric shouted into the void.

<>

<>

A screen appeared before Cedric, he did not know what it was. Alas as God's chosen it was not his place to choose.

He fully understood the writing, and he intuitively knew how to use such a thing. Perhaps because of God's blessing.

His fingers glided across the screen, it showed so much information. It was like having a whole library in his hands.

"God truly is amazing..." Cedric praised God once again. Not caring that he was floating in the void.

God has granted him honor above all honors, he did not know what God had in mind, but it wasn't something he would ever question.

The voice went silent for a moment before speaking once again.

<>

<>

What once was void was filled by what looked like a lush field, a large path, plated in gold stretched, leading into a swirling portal of gold.

He obeyed God's voice, and with swift steps he stepped towards the portal, his armor and blade at the ready.

"It seems it's not over yet, God has use for me yet," Cedric spoke with fervor.

<>

Cedric approached the gate, and with a touch he was consumed, his whole body disappeared within the golden spiral.

What would happen to him? Cedric did not know, after all, he had been given a mission by God Himself.
