Chapter 5 - Shatter That Which Is Demonic [2]

Cedric approached the human army, Equilibrium sheathed on his back but that did not lessen the fear they felt towards the man.

He might have been a hero who saved them, but his power was monstrous. The brutal efficiency with which he dispatched the army left everyone at a loss for words.

The human army left a path for the terrifying hero, letting him pass without any obstacles.

After all, what could they do to a man who single-handedly stopped an entire demonic legion?

Cedric made his way past the humans, their expressions showing both reverence and fear.

He had a target in mind, it would be useless to speak to a normal soldier. He needed to go to the very top and find the commanding officer of this army.

At least he wouldn't struggle to find the man, he wore gold-plated armor, shiny enough to blind anyone looking at it, the mane of the helmet almost reaching to the ground, and he rode on top of a large horse that also wore gold-plated armor.

His appearance alone made Cedric dislike the man; after all, servants of God should not indulge in such material displays. He met people like him, many noble houses of Europe used material wealth to display their worldly status.

'Acting like peacocks won't help you enter the kingdom of heaven... poor fools.' Cedric muttered to himself.

With stride befitting of a hero he approached the man, and yet the man's pride could be seen by his [Eye of God]. This man was afflicted by Pride, there must be a reason that God has granted him the ability to see the sin.

His pride blinded him so much that the man did not even deign himself to hop off his horse to greet a hero who saved thousands of human lives.

It disappointed Cedric to no end, but he knew how humans are. After all, God did grant all of humanity free will.

Cedric stopped some distance away from the commander, waiting for the man to speak. Even if he is riddled by the worst sin Cedric does not want to undermine his authority over the army.

After all, Cedric knew how badly a disorganized army would fare even against even lesser forces than them.

With a swift move Cedric unsheathed Equilibrium, before stabbing it into the ground as a sign of respect.

"My name is Cedric, former Crusader following the word of God, now His Chosen," Cedric spoke with pride as he gave a slight bow before the man.

With the activation of [Eye of God] Cedric analyzed the commander in front of him, all information flowed into his mind.

Cedric was surprised, to say the least, that what he assumed was a man was a woman, a woman was leading a charge against demonic forces.

Not only was it a woman leading an army against demons, but it was also a sinful woman who was afflicted by 3 deadly sins.

There was no wonder the human army was on the verge of being crushed.

Not only was the woman afflicted by sins, but she was not a follower of one true God.

Cedric activated [God's Eye] and his gaze swept over the terrified humans, none of them were followers of God.

"Pagans..." He muttered softly enough for the commander to not hear him.

'I know why God has sent me. This world is under pagan control.' He finally understood. Not only was humanity threatened by demons, but the very faith they held was wrong.

He could not hate them for it, after all, demons most likely tricked humanity into abandoning the light of God in favor of Demons disguising themselves as some kind of divinity.

He finally focused his gaze on the woman, his respect dropping with each information he dug about her, and she did not even speak a single word yet.

There was a small hope she would prove capable, despite being a pagan riddled by sin.

She finally got off her horse and stood before him, she removed her overly decorated helmet, revealing her long blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, the typical appearance of a noble.

She was beautiful indeed, and perhaps his type if she weren't an Infidel and someone who was afflicted by three deadly sins.

But this was not the time to slay infidels, demons were a real threat to God's creation.

He would show a virtue of temperance by allowing infidels to correct their ways, with a time limit of demon extinction.

"Greetings, Hero. I am Aurelia, Acting commander of the 4th legion, belonging to the Kingdom of Valar. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to?" She spoke with an obvious hint of seductiveness; Cedric was not blind to it. She wanted to gain something and it was obvious.

It was not the first time wenches tried to get him into their bed, he learned how to detect even a hint of seduction.

"I am a soldier of God, his Chosen. My name is Cedric." Cedric said before bowing slightly, giving respect even if not earned.

Aurelia looked at Cedric with a confused face.

"Which god, may I ask, Sir Cedric?"

Cedric almost gripped Equilibrium at this question before remembering that demons manipulated humanity. He needed to set it right as was his most holy mission.

"One true God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, Yahweh. You may know Him by one of these names." Cedric spoke with pride, yet confusion grew on Aurelia's face.

"Forgive me, sir Cedric, I do not know that god. Perhaps I could consult the libraries once we destroy the Demihuman fortress town." She crossed her arms as she spoke of her goal.

Now that piqued Cedric's attention, it was his mission too, and perhaps this would be an excellent way to spread the word of God.

"I do not know where such a powerful individual such as yourself appeared from, but would you be willing to accompany the legion? I will make it worth your while." Aurelia spoke, clearly trying to seduce Cedric.

Cedric shook his head.

"I will escort, and I will personally make sure no demon is left alive."

Aurelia smiled, clearly thinking she caught the hero who saved her men in her clutches of feminine charm.
