Chapter 6 - Shatter That Which Is Demonic [3]

Aurelia ordered her men to set up a camp until tomorrow, after all, humans needed a lot of rest to be able to fight at their full potential, at least that consideration he could respect.

In a war with demonic forces, one could not afford to not be at their 100%.

These humans were most certainly not that disciplined or well-trained, but he could not blame them. Their leader was a sinner and an infidel.

Cedric tailed Aurelia closely, making sure she wouldn't try to bring him to her quarters.

Fortunately, she seemed to focus on her mission of demonic extermination rather than her sinful nature.

Cedric wanted to ask her about the assault and her plans, but he preferred to stay quiet, it was taking all of his will to tolerate so many infidels around him.

"Sir Cedric, Forgive me for asking but where have you come from?" Aurelia stopped before asking.

Cedric registered the question before answering "Hm, I have crashed from the sky. I assumed that God sent me to rescue your men."

'It would be ill-advised to reveal anything more to infidels.'

Aurelia nodded, clearly not believing him. "I understand sir Cedric, please follow me. General Graham is waiting for us."

The duo made their way towards one of the tents, larger than the rest clearly meant to act like headquarters.

Cedric was well accustomed to these makeshift field headquarters, after all, leadership always needed space to be able to plan and strategize.

Aurelia made her way inside, shortly followed by Cedric. Inside the large tent, there was a large circular planning table. 3 Individuals were in a heated discussion before abruptly stopping as they noticed the duo entering the war tent.

"Ah if it isn't our glorious hero!" The older man spoke with reverence and fear in his voice.

Cedric nodded as he activated [God's Eye].

Unlike Aurelia this man was someone worthy of respect. While around half of the humans here had at least one virtue this man had 3. And with the only sin being pride he would be someone who would inspire legions.

While he was Infidel, someone that [God's Eye] recognized as overwhelmingly virtuous is deserving of at least a chance to convert.

His skill then observed other two individuals.

'A demon, they are here' Cedric's skill then switched to the other man.

"Why are you in the presence of demons, General Grahm" Cedric gripped Equilibrium.

Two disguised demons looked at each other with confusion and fear. "Sir, we assure you we are not one of those demihumans!"

Grahm looked over both of his attendants "I assure you sir, these two worked with me since I was appointed a general of 4th legion."

Cedric shook his head, filthy demonic servants of Satan dare stand in front of God's chosen and not embrace the release of death.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared behind one of the attendants, their heads flying off before he could register anything happening.

As the corpse collapsed the illusion dispelled, revealing a horned creature with red skin.

"I see, you have hidden from me on purpose but did not expect me to find you here Demons!" Cedric chuckled, his mind consumed by Zeal.

Grahm and Aurelia looked at the corpse, still in disbelief as one of their closest was a demi-human in disguise.

Grahm jumped back landing in front of Aurelia meaning to protect her, this unexpected attack proved that they were too relaxed, a demi-human was right next to them, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Other demon dared to look surprised as the corpse of his fellow assassin disappeared in the holy light.

"I swear I did not know..." The man tried to defend himself before he was struck down with immense speed.

Cedric sheathed Equilibrium onto his back before turning to Grahm and Aurelia. Cedric would not suffer for a demon to live in his presence. He was God's Chosen and he would not fail his mission.

"You need to be more careful when dealing with servants of evil." He spoke with slight disappointment in his voice.

"There is one more saboteur somewhere," Cedric spoke casually

Two leaders looked shocked, Aurelia collapsed as if it was the first time seeing a demon being killed so close to her, after all, she seemed to be here more as a figurehead than an actual leader.

But as expected of Grahm he collected himself before speaking. "Thank you, sir Cedric, I can't believe my closest comrades were disguised demi-humans."

Cedric was confused by them calling Demons something like Demihuman almost giving those filthy creatures the same rank of Ones made in His Image."You may thank me later, I will find the final demon."

With those words, Cedric rushed out of the war tent leaving Aurelia and Grahm stunned. While he needed to talk to the leaders of this legion his mission was top priority.

Grahm rushed after some moments, alerting everyone that an enemy was within the camp, putting everyone on high alert.

It was ill-advised to tarry, every man and woman in the camp needed to be at high alert. Demi-Human infiltration is to be treated with the highest urgency.
