Chapter 18 - Heaven's Blessing

After excusing himself from Maya, Leo went to another region of the forest. Finding a secluded corner, he sat down and used his internal sight to examine the changes in his body.

That was when he saw them—runes, each etched onto his blood vessels, each emitting a faint crimson light. Further, on the walls of his veins, he could feel pulses of shadowy dark aura surging through. These changes were stunning, but that wasn't all. He could feel the dimensional bots, lying sunken, dormant, waiting for his commands.

It was shocking. His body was already this powerful, and he hadn't even activated his enhancements. He was thrilled by this discovery; it was a testament to his growth. He continued his inspection, feeling his body filled to the brim with energy. The faint runes beneath his skin pulsed; they were called bloodline runes. According to Lin, it was evidence of the ninth plane, but even ninth plane creatures didn't have this many runes on them, evidence that he had stepped onto the path of extremity.

He could feel these changes at a fundamental level of his existence. Then he moved his observation to his soul and was stunned by what he saw. His ethereal replica shone with a faint purple hue, like an amalgamation of energy lines. It was like a literal deity, sitting in a meditative posture within his consciousness, silently hovering above the still ocean ever present within his mind.

Opening his eyes, Leo was filled with excitement at these changes. Though he didn't know where his limitations lay, he would have to figure it out little by little.

He had been hoping that with all the influx of energy he went through, maybe Lin would be back. But it seemed he had put his hope too high. He sighed at the disappointment and focused on stabilizing his energies.

.................

Maya sat by the side after Leo left. Beside her was Jayde, still unconscious, evidenced by the loss of pupils as his eyes had rolled back, showing only the whites. He was bound by energy strings, courtesy of Maya.

Maya had long stabilized her aura. What was left for her was to get home and start practicing her family's evo-art.

Evo-arts were secret canons that held the manuals for energy control and other secret techniques. The first evo-arts in existence were made by the genius scientist Kamar Singh himself. He created these manuals for the first made gods in existence. Every other evo-art made after couldn't hold a candle to the creation of the genius scientist. A total of 668 evo-arts were made. As for the made gods who died, they passed their evo-arts to their descendants. That was how Maya's phantom family got theirs. After her grandfather's death, he passed it on to them.

After thirty long minutes, Leo finally came back. He had noticeably reined in his energies and now looked normal. Apart from his compelling eyes, everything else was good.

Not wasting any more time, "We've delayed enough. Let's get out of here," she said, her voice laced with impatience.

Leo nodded but cast his gaze towards Jayde as he asked, "What are we going to do with him?"

"Leave him be. If my guess is right, someone else is laying in ambush outside. This guy was probably just the scout."

Leo was taken aback by this. Looking at her, he sighed. This was probably the consequence of coming from a prominent family.

The two of them navigated their way through the dimensional zone and finally exited the zone through the rift. Something unexpected happened, though.

..............

Leo, who thought his transformation had ended, was unaware that he still needed a crucial factor to complete his transcendence as a progenitor—he had to be blessed by his world.

So one could imagine the scene that played out as Leo stepped his foot back on Earth.

The very atmosphere trembled as the all but dying planet Earth seemed to come to life. The dark, mutated forest that surrounded the rock formation where the rift dwelled started to show some changes.

The time both Maya and Leo stepped out of the zone was noon. Normally, the sun was blocked by grey toxic clouds. If one wasn't in a city, it was almost impossible to see the sun. But suddenly, this afternoon, the clouds above this region of the outskirts parted, and the glorious sun emitted a ray of energy that directed itself to Leo.

Leo, unaware of what was happening, just happened to see the clouds part as a beam of energy landed directly on him, and all he saw was white. All he felt was pain.

Right now, Leo was on the verge of crying. He had barely been awakened from his slumber for a week, and he had been going through pain after pain. Couldn't the feeling of getting stronger be more pleasant? Other than this, he was confused. He didn't do anything just now, and he was attacked by the sun.

.............

If any other person could hear Leo's thoughts, they would really beat him up in anger. Even Maya beside him was staring at his silhouette, which was barely visible through the energy beam, her eyes revealing pure, utter envy.

She knew what it meant to be blessed by Mother Earth. That aside, even Earth's blessings had different levels: the land's blessing, the life's blessing, and then there was the legendary heaven's blessing, which was happening right before her eyes.

She quickly put all further thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on absorbing the residue of the energy concentrated on Leo. She could feel her connection in the third dimension getting stronger. She smiled; it seemed taking Leo with her had been the best choice.

..............

While this was happening, there was a silent spectator watching the scene. He had been sent here to steal the gene core acquired by the Phantom House princess and kidnap her if possible. But seeing the scene play out, he had a feeling that his superiors would be more interested in this little boy who was receiving the heaven's blessing.
