Chapter 37 - A good guy

But he simply laughed off my words and said,

"This isn't manipulation in any sense..all I did was bringing out the guilty conscience Arslan was responsible for my safety. When he wasn't able to fulfil his duties, he became desperate, desperate that the alliance he had been forging since childhood was on the verge of breaking, and he no longer will have the authority to be by my side all times so he had to do something to control the damage. To make me believe in him and give him a chance, You told me that he was by my side till the time I had not planned the rebellion,

But now things are different I had not planned anything and on the contrary I have been attacked due to which I could have lost my life. That is why he will be ready to do anything for me even if it means kill two or three innocent people."

Prince point was logical but I just couldn't imagine young Arslan thinking about things like forming relationships for authority or power At such a young age. It just didn't fit well. So I asked out my question, "but how do you know he was behind you for a reason? Wasn't he your friend?"

"Friend."..... Prince voice trailed out as if he was thinking about something in the distant past. But he immediately snapped back and answered my question, "It wasn't him, that was his father Duke Ornaland it was his order to befriend me and Arslan did a lot of hard work to achieve that and if he were to break his father's hopes dam.... Arslan has to face consequences. That's why he'll be ready to agree to do anything to stay by your side."

I can understand this after watching Prince. Why do people call him Prince? because he knew everything about politics and also knew how to bring other people on his side. But I still couldn't understand how such an intelligent person ended up planning a rebellion knowing it well that such a step could ruin his life and all the things he did for the throne would be of no use, what made him so desperate to take such a drastic step? I buried the thought deep in my mind hoping to find some answers in the future.

Prince showed me the way. He showed me how Arslan could be manipulated. I followed the same path and tried to get my work done.

"Arslan everything can be as it was before, you just have to do some task of mine. Can you do that task?" I ended my talk and a question was now hanging in the air,

Arslan nodded his head immediately and I said, "Arslan tonight I want you to fit some magic bombs under the dams I will mark them for you and do it as perfect as possible so that no one comes to know anything and when these bombs are blasted then the destruction that would happen from them should be huge that all the infrastructure, homes, factories and agriculture fields should no longer be of any use."

I knew that despite understanding everything I said, Arslan would definitely ask me some question or the other and my thinking was proved right.

Arsalan questioned me and said, "But my lord, if I do as you said, then who knows how many people will lose their lives. Who knows how much money our Emporer will have to spend to set all these things right and who knows how many people will die of starvation?"

'As expected of a good guy' I thought and immediately countered, "No one will die. I'll make sure of it and as for your other things are concerned, like how much money the emperor has to spend all the structure here are centuries old and reconstructing them has always been a priorty and with this, the plan might just be prepond and about food, I'll make sure that no one dies due to starvation, Arslan, This region is under the control of the first Prince and when such region experiences something like this. The people will raise questions on his ability, his capacity to be a ruler. When he isn't able to manage such simple things. So the headache is for the first prince not us and when he fails, we'll step into it and make sure that everything is perfect. Then the people here will be on our side, having people on our side can be of no use in short-term. But when the emperor is selected, people will have a say that's how it has always been."

Arslan wasn't exactly pleased by this decision. But he knew that he had lost the trust of the second Prince and to gain it back he had to do things which he was not comfortable with so he agreed nonetheless.

Christopher was pleased with Arslan and he immediately gave away his entire plan, explained all the conditions that had to be met, places where bombs had to be placed and in which parts they had to be placed so that they could cause maximum damage.

As the sky darkened, Christopher followed Arslan they went to 2 places. All they had to do was fix the bombs and set a timer. Initially Christopher was confused about the time they had to set. But once he asked a Arslan about the region weather conditions he knew that the maximum rainfall was expected to happen in a few days. So he set the timer according to it.

After a whole night of running back and forth Christopher was about to sleep when a thought struck his head , He had actually forgotten something really important. He forgot to make arrangements for his wedding...
