Kael's POV
The events played on a loop in my head, a relentless torment. I could still hear Lyra's voice in my mind, calling out to me through the link. Kael, help... The desperation in her tone was haunting.
I ran after the car, my legs burning with every step.
"No! No! Fuck!" But it didn't matter. They were faster. My wolf howled in frustration, clawing at my chest as if to force me to run faster, to do better.
When the car disappeared into the darkness, I stood in the middle of the road, panting and trembling. My fists slammed down on the hood of my SUV, leaving dents in the metal. My breaths were ragged, my vision blurred with anger and grief.
"Please stop!" Melora's voice broke through the haze. She reached out to me, her hand trembling slightly.
"How can you ask me to stop? I snapped, turning on her with blazing eyes. "She's gone, Melora! GONE!"
