Lyra's POV
We reached Selena and Violet was asked to leave. I stood frozen, my eyes darting to the guards who surrounded me, their stances firm and unyielding. My heart pounded as I took in Selena's smug expression. She moved towards me with a deliberate saunter, every step dripping with calculated menace.
"Selena," I began cautiously, "what is this?"
She raised a hand, silencing me with a cold smile.
"No need to be dramatic, Lyra. I'm not here to hurt you," she said, her tone almost sweet, but the threat was unmistakable. "I'd rather not let this get messy."
I glanced at the guards again, their expressions blank, as if they were mere extensions of her will. My wolf stirred uneasily, a low growl rumbling in my chest. I forced it down, trying to remain calm.
"What do you want?" I asked, my voice steady despite the storm brewing inside me.
