Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The burning man vs the water child

Monare was now back at the master's villa with so much in his mind. Carron had told him about helping to calm and stabilize spirit, and he had also pledged to assist in discovering the well.

Monare had informed him that he would think about it some more, so he merely ate and pondered about what he needed to do while eating dinner in his cold, lightless chamber, which he relished for its eeriness.

Monare sighed as he looked into the darkness:

"I will think about it more tomorrow."

Monare closed his eyes and slept on the blanket. The slumber was interrupted when a sudden sensation made him feel hot as he began to sweat.

A chill breath was exhaled from his mouth, which meant trouble was incoming. Monare got up with his eyes now deep blue:

 'We got trouble'

'I am aware, kid. Don't forget that we share a body, what you see I can see what you hear I can hear' said the voice within his body.

Monare slightly opened his door that made the villa doorway visible, the lights from the torches had enough light to see shadows. Yet he did not see the shadows of the intruder, he got out of his room with alert eyes and body ready to fight at any moment.

Monare stood between the villa doorway and his backroom, trying to locate the intruder. He walked steadily towards the farm, feeling the same sensation that made him sweat. He caught a swift presence coming from the other side of the entryway, but the person was not visible due to lack of light.

Monare was already rushing when he shifted his stance; he swiftly grasped the intruder's raised arm and threw the person to the ground utilizing the individual's weight as a medium. Monare continued to hold the person's hand after forcing them into the light and seeing what they were.

A man with blue hair and a powerful frame, his eyes were distinctive, just like Monare's when he used his powers. Like the intruder, Monare said right away:

"Spirit tether"

Monare backed away from the man with his combat stance still intact. The man rose up and stared at Monare, adding:

"A slave who inherited a gift from the stars never imagined that this day would come. Perhaps that is the reason he is interested in you. I'm sorry, youngster, but I had to catch you in order to return you to him.

Monare talked with a sense of excitement:

"The fat man made him move, huh? That sounds like fun for me and him." Mostly me, after I get his whereabouts from you.

The villa entrance opened, and Quinn dashed for the blue-haired guy, his sword prepared to strike him down. The blue-haired man sidestepped Quinn, causing him to miss the strike and lose his footing. That provided the opportunity for the blue-haired guy to strike at Quinn.

He lifted his fist with redder eyes, surrounded by aura, with the intent to maim his opponent with his might. With rapid reflexes, Quinn utilized his sword's blunt side to parry the strike, but it was insufficient to deflect the impact of the punch.

Quinn was thrown back and slammed the wall of Monare's backroom hard, nearly knocking the air out of him, but it merely led him to fall down because the agony may have paralyzed his movements slightly.

Monare's eyes were fixed on the combat, analyzing the motions and fighting without being interrupted:

'He is a tremendously talented warrior who uses his abilities carefully. He only reinforced his hand for a time, which is insufficient for me to determine his exile's condition. But I have a feeling that he has a heat type power based on the sensation he gives off.

'Of course he does,' said the voice in his thoughts as he added: 'Your affinity is water-based, you can sense when your affinity is being affected like water is being boiled'

Monare was already aware of this; he simply wanted to explore the options he had observed during the encounter. He dashed over to the blue-haired person, raising his fist and aiming for the gut; the blue-haired person attempted a sidestep again, but it failed.

Monare placed his weight on his hands and took advantage of his gravity. Using his hands as support, he delivered a swing kick to the stomach that caught the blue-haired guy off surprise.

The kick was not enhanced at all. Monare smiled as he did a dance based on swings and kicks, utilizing his hands as support and occasionally his feet as well.

The blue-haired individual dodged, both surprised and intrigued. His strength flowed toward his body with rage and control; he stomped on the ground, forcing it to tremble as he fired up an attack and retracted his fist.

A surge of energy was focused on his hand with tons of steam coming from the punch, he launched toward Monare who immediately sensed the sensation and dodged by sidestepping as well avoiding the punch. It produced an impact that caused the sand on the ground to part to the side as Monare want for the blue haired man with a spinning kick to the chest.

That strike caught him indeed, as the blue haired individual was pushed back as he fell on one knee on the ground. Monare stood back with a stance ready to pounce at him, he saw the man sweat a bit as it trickles to the cheek it immediately turned to steam.

The blue-haired individual was surrounded by hot steam from his body. He looked at Monare with malice in his glowing red eyes and growled,

"A spirit tether who does not rely on his gift is less perfect in the spirit society. We were chosen to inherit power, what is the use of it without putting in effort. You already got me interested in which buttons I should push to make you more interested in this fight."

Flora opened the door wide, as if fate might complicate matters. Monare's eyes widened as he exclaimed:

"Flora run"

It was too late; the blue-haired individual's eyes glowed bright red again as he moved with incredible speed toward Flora. The little girl was immediately terrified to scream as a man with a huge smile on his face barreled toward her, his hand raised as he attempted to catch or assault her.

Quinn was now awake as he attempted to rise up using his sword as support; his eyes saw life flash before them as he wanted to run and stop the man. He yelled as well:

"Nooooooo"

The little girl closed her eyes in fear, but then saw movement from the corner of her eye. Monare, who had caught the attack, had blue eyes and a dull expression on his face. His body was emitting a cold sensation, making the blue-haired individual feel chilly.

Monare took a breath and added with anger in his voice:

"Nobody touches the young lady of the house when her bodyguard is on duty"

"Bodyguard?" said the blue haired man with confusion in his voice "Aren't you a sl…."

He couldn't continue his sentence because a speed punch to the face landed on the bridge of his nose, followed by a palm blow to both ears and chest. The contact may have sent the man back, but Monare used his hand to tug at the neck as his elbow pressed against the side of the neck and face.

The man attempted to defend, but he was too sluggish, as the blow to the stomach hampered his counterattack and attack. Monare launched another palm strike on the rib sides, followed by a knee kick to the jaw as he dropped his body for a successful sweep. Monare grabbed the blue-haired man's garment to pull him up before finishing the attack with a hard kick to the gut.

With no energy being released by his beaten body, the guy was unable to regain footing and fell to the ground. Monare's eyes flashed brighter with blue as his aura surged, causing both Flora and Quinn to feel a sharp shiver.

Quinn stood there, using the wall to support his back and gripping the sword like a cane. His eyes were filled with emotions and surprise as he exclaimed:

"Just who are you really kid?"

Monare smiled and shrugged:

"Just a slave sworn to protect the young lady"
