Chapter 3 - The Guild

As the crowd started dispersing the group moved closer to the person that was willing to fight the cloaked man. The person was lying on the floor with multiple people surrounding him. Not a single person touched the skull man in fear he would attack them. The group inched forward, and Momo pulled out a book with magic. She started saying something not even Larry could understand. A sweet scent released from her hand as she casted a magnificent spell. The people that surrounded the skulled man moved back away from Momo. The man got up slowly realizing what had happened. The skull man took a deep breath and removed his mask.

The group gasped except Fred and Momo as they realized it was Jay that had fought the cloaked man. Fred bowed his head and looked at Momo who appeared to be filled with joy seeing Jay. Jay looked at the group realizing they wanted to know what was going on. Jay pulled out a piece of parchment and handed it to Momo. She peered down at the parchment and without a word left in a hurry and Fred followed without a single word.

"What did you give them?" Asked Larry.

"Now is not the time." Jay responded quickly while motioning them to follow him.

The Group did as Jay asked since they had no clue what to do anyway. Jay took them to an empty alleyway. He gave them all the same piece of parchment that he gave Momo. He told everyone once they read it to hand it back to him. They all looked at the note and it read 'Chosen Ones'. The group looked at Jay and handed the parchment back. Jay explained they need to think of that word as they walk through this alley. The group looked at Jay as though he had gone crazy but then remembering the fight they could barely see they figured it was best to do as Jay asked. One by one they walked into the alleyway thinking of the words 'Chosen Ones'. As they walked through, they felt a sort of change in the world. They felt like they were sucked in a wind tunnel, but it seemed very easy to move. They kept pressing forward until they fell a couple of feet down.

The group had never seen a castle like this before. The castle gates were gilded, A crest was shown on the walls, appearing to be half human half skull, and on the human side of the face skeletal wings protruded out and on the skull half angel wings protruded out.

"What is this place?" The group asked simultaneously. They felt a chill run through their bodies as they noticed half of the castle seemed dead and the other side seemed to thrive with beautiful trees, and water so clear you can see at the bottom of the moat. The water where everything appeared to be dead looked black and every now and then there was a glint of two red lights that seemed to be like eyes.

"My home." Jay replied as he walked forward to his castle. "We have been followed but the spell I have created will prevent anyone else from coming in here. Momo will be Bringing her group of trustworthy fairies and elves to join us here. I left instructions on how and where they can get to the place. There are 40 points around this world that I have connected to but there is a problem."

"What that?" Robert asked.

"The world that was created by our system no longer exists since it has taken the minds of millions of people to create this one. Meaning some of my points may have been overwritten. As of right now I only have four points I'm sure is safe. There are people on the side of these points trying to figure how to get it. Think of it as a guild. This place is not a city or town. It is my home that I have renovated to my own guild. You are all members of this guild since you read the piece of parchment and entered my home. If you care to leave the guild you may do so." Jay looked at everyone as they all appeared to be listening intently.

A screeching wind sounded as a floating door appeared wide open. Fairies and elves started storming through and falling a few feet onto the ground. Jay walked up to the group and greeted everyone as though he had known them for years. Momo floated down with Fred as she announced that these were the only people she could find on the list.

"Glad you made it here okay." Jay said, smiling at her. She blushed as he moved closer to her. "I have acquired a few items for you since the last time we met. I will show you as soon as we settle down." Jay motioned for Fred and Momo to follow him.

"You have all been asked here to join my guild. If any of you choose to leave your memories of this place and anything that has been discussed here will be wiped." Jay looked around looking for anyone that may have left. "I see no one has decided to leave. Please follow me since this is a very dangerous place to some of the newcomers." Jay said as he walked to the first set of gates.

He presented a ring that was on his index finger to the gates. The gates opened and dropped a drawbridge so that the group could walk with him over the moat. One of the fairies asked why they couldn't just fly over the castle. Jay stopped in his tracks and turned to the fairy. "Marque, do you think I wouldn't have thought of an attack from the sky?" Marque, a very muscular fairy, didn't say a word. Jay asked for Marque to go with him and asked everyone to stay still. Jay pulled out from his bag a large stake. Jay tossed the stake up into the air high above the castle wall. Red lights in the black water flickered. Up out of the water a dragon dark as a moonless night flew up to the stake and burnt it with its flaming breath. Its wings were black but boney, its claws stretched out almost 6 feet. The dragon looked back down at the group, some of which were cowering in fear. Marque looked at Jay with fear as Jay explained that he raised the dragon which he called Wrath from an egg. They pressed forward some of the people looking back at the moat in fear that if they didn't move fast enough, they would be killed.

They finally reached the second gate. Jay again lifted his ring, and again the gate opened revealing one side of the land looking dead and decaying and the other side thriving with life. Jay explained that inside the castle walls since everyone was in the guild they can train with each other without fear of dying in game. The combat will end when the player gets to half their health if training with another guild member. Invaders from different guilds can be killed but Jay explained he made sure his kingdom will be safe from any type of invasion.

"Only a handful of beta testers could crack the secret entrance to my guild but as some of you may know already, I have placed a screeching wind spell to notify us if someone is coming." Jay looked at his friends. "I have asked the castle servants to bring me keys to your rooms. Entering another member's room without permission could cost your life. Entering my room without Permission WILL cost you your life." Jay looked at Marque as he said his last sentence. The servants looked as though half were undead and demons and the other angels and sprites. The servants gathered around Jay with keys as he ordered them to stand by him and give the keys to the people of their faction.

"Those that wish to become skillers and do not want anything to do with combat please step forward." Jay announced. 30 people stepped forward and announced the skill they were going to be focusing on. Four of the 30 wanted to specialize in black smithing. Four servants stepped forward with keys outstretched two undead and two sprites. Jay asked them to follow the servants to their shop and quarters. 5 players asked to do alchemy and again 5 servants stepped forward, some from the dark side and some from the light side. This process kept happening until the last person who seemed undecided on what to do. Jay suggested that the person take up cooking and learn with the master servant chief since there is only so much an NPC (Non-Player Character) could do compared to a player. The player agreed and followed the Servant up to the castle.

"Now those of you that are willing to battle, will have rooms in the castle. The shops that our friends and family have chosen to reside in will best satisfy their needs. And please do not think that they are not being treated well. Our servants will bring them food from the castle, and they will have combat training to defend themselves. I will see to this myself. I would like for you all to split into two groups, except for Momo, Fred, Terry, Larry, Robert, Will, and Gale you all will follow me to your chambers. The servants will take you to your rooms." Jay started walking towards the castle with his group of friends.

The path seemed to be neither light or dark but a grayish color as if the path split the light and dark side of the castle. When they entered the castle, they noticed the beautiful onyx colored stone on one side with gold ornaments, and on the other side marble walls with golden ornaments. The entrance led to a pathway that ended at a crossroad. They kept moving forward and noticed that the walls looked like concrete the further and further they had gone into this path the more gray it seemed. The Path had no dead or living creatures other than themselves. A stairway blocked their path and Jay walked up the stairs. The others followed each one noticing that there were no objects around, no light around but yet it seemed as though they could see somewhat fine. They reached the top of the stairway and saw one door.

"Here are your keys." Jay announced to the group. "We will all be sharing a room." Fred looked as though he was going to say a remark to Jay, but Jay quickly said, "Momo You will have a room to yourself this is just a main entrance, and I will put an unbreakable spell on all the doors in here." Fred seemed satisfied. One by one the group entered and Fred mysteriously tripped over T's staff.

"You stupid knife ears pay attention to your surroundings." Fred yelled out.

Everyone turned to Fred, surprised he said such a hateful term to T.

T laughed and replied, "At least I'm not a 'fairy'.

The group laughed even Momo chuckled as well. Fred's face turned a bright red as he muttered some insults under his breath. When they all entered the room, it seemed bigger than the small entrance made it seem. Sculptures of angels and demons were sitting on either side of the room. One of the demons Seemed to look very familiar to Will, Robert, Gale, T, and Larry. There was a beautiful kitchen with what seemed to look like a chef NPC (Non-Player Character) located on the angel side. On the other side it seemed to have an Alchemist lab for magic users with every ingredient known to them for spells and potions. Located by the alchemist lab were shelves that had every potion possibly known with another NPC putting potions on their respective tags. T and Fred's room were next to each other; they both looked at Jay wondering if he purposely set these rooms aside for them. Jay paid no attention as he was directing Robert, Gale, and Will to the rooms across. After showing them, their rooms Jay took Larry and Momo up the dull looking stairs at the center and showed Larry to his room on the right and Momo to her room on the left. Larry walked to his room whose door appeared to be ominous. It was made of real bones and skulls. There was no handle to the door, and also no keyhole to put the key in. Larry took out his key and turned to look at Jay when from the corner of his eye he noticed the door grow out a boney looking handle.

Momo walked to her door which was covered in beautiful feathers golden in color. She too noticed her door had no handle or keyhole, but she pulled out her key just as Larry did and the feathers moved to reveal a keyhole. She was the first to enter her room and she was greeted by an NPC Called Fernran. His muscles were as big as boulders. He had white wings extending as he bowed to Momo his plate legs were just as white as his wings. His Warhammer was as big as a giant's hand. Behind him was a bed that seemed so comfortable you could fall asleep just by looking at it.

Jay walked through his door as if it wasn't there. Some of the group seemed surprised seeing Jay comfortable due to his reputation in the real world being very quiet. Jay returned back through the door and had multiple objects in his hand he was accompanied by a few NPCs that looked like imps and pixies each holding objects as well. Some of them carried the same object due to its massive size. "I Would like for all of you to come with me to the meeting room located behind the staircase, as soon as you're done unpacking." Jay called out to the group.

Jay walked with the horde of little creatures to the meeting room. The room had a giant round table with items placed upon them by the seats which had names embroidered on them. The group slowly entered the room and noticed their names on the seats. Each one of them stood behind the seats with their names on it. Jay looked at everyone and motioned them all to take a seat. The group started at the objects in front of them, some of them even grabbing the objects to take a closer look.

"These will be your new weapons and armor until we can upgrade them. Some of you use magic and you will want to practice your spells and others may want to refine their strength and agility. We have a practice area where the meeting room is. Jay pointed at the door located behind him. We have phoenix and immortal demons as targets. This will boost your experience points fast. We also have the basic training room downstairs by the courtyard. Which you can use as well…" Jay went on explaining how the training room upstairs is for leaders of the guild only due to the immense work it took him to bring these creatures from the realm of chaos which was located on the opposite side of the world.

Jay asked everyone to retrieve their belongings so that he could show them the world map. The group moved all the equipment from the table to the chairs they were sitting at and took a few steps back as they noticed the table start to sink into the floor and the ceiling above the table started to come down slowly. The Group looked at the ceiling, realizing that it was a globe of the world with some parts of the world being as if it had not been discovered.

Will pointed at the largest blank area on the map and asked how they could see that area. Jay smiled at will and told him that the sections that were blank were sections he could not receive a map from the stores or could not send a mapper in those areas because it is very dangerous. Jay went on telling them that he plotted the map and stuck it in this room in the beta. Jay also told them that he believes that the end of the game is in that area and the castle could be in the center of the large blank area.

"It could possibly be the first line of defense not being able to find the location on a map," said Larry. "You did that to your castle, Jay, so maybe the mappers you sent died because they tried to map out an unplottable point. Or they could possibly still be there trying to map out the point and it keeps getting erased so it's an infinite loop cycle of trying to find it."

Everyone started to agree with Larry and though perhaps there is a code error that could make it so the NPC mappers might not be able to plot the point on the map because of a spell to conceal the location. Jay got up from his seat and said to the group "Before we all go to sleep, I'm going to cast a spell on the doors to each room to ensure no funny business goes down." Jay looked at T and Fred as he said these words.
