"Maybe, not having a mate is not the end of the world," Valerie tells her wolf Anya internally. Anya grunts in disagreement. "I feel him. He is out there somewhere," Anya says.
Valerie rolls her eyes. "So you have been saying for the past six years love. If not for you, I would've found a regular wizard or human to date. It will be quite easy, you know?" Her wolf tunes her out, not wanting to entertain the thought of being with someone who is not their mate. Valerie rolls her eyes, and goes to their pack. The Great Treasure Lycans. Although it was a pack, some witches also resided there especially since her mother and father got together. It shocked both the werewolf world, and the witches cove, but it was fated.
The moon goddess picked them, and she never makes a mistake. Because her mother was a witch, one of the strongest, and her father was the next in line to being the next lycan king, both families rejected the ideas of their families joining. But it does not work that way. They were already fated for each other, and had no plans of severing ties. When her mother gave birth, all her kids ended up being hybrids. They could all change into their wolf forms, and also use spells. It strengthened their pack, and made them the most feared and respected. It also helped bridge the gap between the witches and werewolves.
Plus, her father was a product of a lycan prince and alpha's daughter's bond. Valerie goes to her family's house, and is greeted by everyone. She is a writer so, she goes on book tours sometimes. To be honest, she loved the book tours. As much as she loved her family and people, it was stifling. She heard what was being said. Her younger sister already found her mate, and people were talking. They tried to be subtle, but it was impossible. She was happy for her younger sister, but it hurt more. Her mother called her two years ago, and told her that if she does not find her mate, she can always date other people. After all, she was beautiful, smart and hardworking. These were all her mother's words. She goes home, and smothered by the love of her family.
They tended to filter some conversations, and treat her like glass so that she could pitch in conversations. At times, she made excuses so that they could say whatever they wanted to say without filtering their information. Valeries goes straight to play with her little nephew. Her mother then calls her for a chat, and she leaves her baby.
"Hello Valerie, are you done running away?" Her mother uses her spell to shut the door, and Valerie gulps. "I was not running mum." Her mum raises her eyebrow, and says, "You do know I am your mother, and a witch right?" Valerie sighs.
"I understand how you feel my love. You were born on February 14, you will find your love soon."
Valerie looks at her mum in question, and asks, "What do you mean by that?" She looks into her mother's hazel green eyes, the exact same kind she has. Her mother says, "I was told to tell you that. Have some faith my love." At that, Valerie's wolf Anya immediately perks up at that. Valeri scoffs, and says, "It is not like I don't believe your message, but it is to, when all I have known is loneliness. Sure, I have my family here with me, but it is not the same. I have not found my mate for six years, what makes you think I will find him now."
Her mother smiles gently, and her wolf chastises her. Her mother comes to stay beside her, and says, "On the day, you and your love will meet, a power like no one has ever known. A love that no one has ever seen. A beauty that can only be imagined. The strength we never knew, all these will happen."
Valerie wants to ask her mother to elaborate, but she sees her mother's eyes are no more glittering like before. She knows her mother is no more talking about the vision. Her mother smiles and hugs her, "It will be a love so beautiful, and there might be oppositions, but your love will stand."
Valerie heart beats faster. She does not want to believe this, but she can't help it. Visions has always been the thing she and her mother shared. None of her siblings could see like them. She knew her mother was not wrong, but the pessimistic side of her could not help but doubt.
Her hugs her immediately and says, "I know it may see hard to believe my sweet, but it is coming. It is getting closer. Brace yourse, and get ready for your full happiness." Valerie's green eyes glisten, and she says, "I hope so mum. I hope so." Her mother holds her daughter in her arms, and says, "I know you do baby, believe." She and her mother calm down. Her mother uses her magic to open the door, and in walks her father. The Lycan King. King of the Wolves.
He turns to his wife, and asks, "Why did you use magic to secure the door, and ensure everything being said won't be heard?" Her mother smirks. "We needed to have a chat," she says smugly. Her father narrows his eyes at his wife, and he asks, "And that is why the door needed to be shut?"
Her mother smirks and says, "It is not my fault your wolf could not open it." Her father growls at his wife playfully, and Valerie feels like she is intruding. Her father opens his hands wide, and carries his daughter up. Even though Valerie is 5'11, her father is still taller. Both her parents are tall so, every one of her siblings are as well. Her father hugs his baby girl, and asks, "How are you doing?"
Valerie smiles and says, "I'm fine dad. You can put me down please." Her fusses over her, and asks how her tour was. He ends up talking about her book, and he tells her he needs the third book in the series as soon as possible. Valerie is mortified because she told her family parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles not to read the book. It warms her heart though, that her father enjoyed her book. A book genre he does not normally read. She was asked him why, and he told her, "My favorite book genre, is any book written by Valerie Leah Huton."
She smiled, and thanked the moon goddess for family
