Chapter 3 - 2- His Parents Want A Wife

*In Mount Olympus*

Cupid looks at his mother Aphrodite, and his father, Eros. "You both asked for her," Cupid says. Aphrodite looks at her son, and grins, "My beautiful boy, have you decided who you will be getting married to now?"

Cupid gives his mother a bored look, which she ignores.

"You match-make a lot of people, and yet, you are single,"Eros says.

"Thanks for stating the obvious dad," Cupid drawls. "I just don't match-make dad. I do other things for our people too."

His father waves his arm at that, knowing that his son was right, but it did not change the fact that his son changed girls more than he changed his undergarments. "When I find someone, you both will hear about it," Cupid says. Aphrodite scoffs. "It is not just finding someone, love. It is finding a goddess to marry. Preferably Zeus and Poisedon's daughter."

"What about Hades' daughter?" Cupid asks while rolling his eyes. Immediately, his mother stands, and shouts, "The gods forbid."

"Not the goddesses though, right?" Cupid smirks at his words. His father, Eros pretends to read a book, and his mother says, "Over my dead body. Anybody but Hades' daughters. Especially Melinoe." His mother refers to one of Cupid's closest friends. Cupid rolls his eyes at her, and grins. "So a human will be alright?" His father sends a warning glance his way, but he pays no heed. His mother was the best to rile up, and he was bored so, why not take advantage of it now?

"Vampires?" His mother starts speaking in Ancient Greek, warning him that he should not bring the blood suckers to her home. "Werewolves then?" His mother glares. "Those wild animals? Never."

"Fairies?" His mother ignores him, and he says, "What about a witch?' That makes her very annoyed. His mother once had an altercation with a witch, and she still could not admit that she had lost, dreadfully. She probably should not have messed up with a witch from the strongest family. Cupid is sure she thought that, since his mother is a goddess, it would be an easy win. She should have known that, aside from humans, not all creatures are easy to beat. Especially not a witch.

His mother starts speaking in Ancient Greek, and her son, Cupid only laughs at her. He knew that he would be marrying who he wanted. Whether they were meremaids, werewolves, witches, vampires, goddesses and even humans. His parents, especially his mother, won't dictate his life. 'He is literally Cupid,' he thinks to himself.

Regardless of class, or who his other half will be, he will decide that, for himself. He just knew now was not the time to settle down. He was still young. Just thirty. He should have been older, but his mother had to give birth to him later so that her figure wouldn't be any less impressive. His mother is very vain. Although she is the goddess of beauty, so that is to be expected. Cupid finally leaves his parents, and goes to meet with his friends Melinoe, Perseus, Triton, Athena and Dionysis.

Athena says, "Let me guess, your parents were asking about when you will bring a wife to them." Cupid laughs and nods. Perseus says, "Is you mother not quite tired? I would be too. I mean it is quite obvious you still enjoy your playboy lifestyle. You still can't get enough of the nymphs."

Cupid rolls his eyes. "More like the nymphs can't get enough of me. To be fair, I haven't met someone. Yet. My mother is hell-bent on the person being a goddess." Melinoe says, "Is that a bad thing? It is only normal."

Cupid shakes his head. "I prefer not limiting myself to just one kind of woman."

Dionysis and Triton snicker. "I mean, there are different types. We have the humans, werewolves, vampires, witches, mermaids, and so on. The gods forbid I stick to just goddesses. Plus, if I was going to fall in love with any goddess in Mount Olympus, it would have happened a long time ago."

Melinoe frowns at that. Triton says, "I feel you brother. Plus, it is more exciting. I can not wait to go down to earth soon."

Athena rolls her eyes at them. "You guys are just tools." Cupid and Triton all pretend to be offended, even though they took it as a compliment.

Dionysis says, "To be fair, Cupid is right."

"Obviously," Cupid says.

"Of course, you will side him," Melinoe says.

"I am just saying. He is the god of love. The humans even see him as a flying baby with arrows behind his back which he uses to make people fall in love."

"The humans have always been naive," Athena says.

"Maybe," Dionysis says. "But if Cupid was destined to be with someone from Mount Olympus, he would have known a long time ago. Although, it is quite ironic you have not found out who you are going to spend the rest of lives with."

"Maybe, I am destined to be single forever because there are a lot of women I am meant to unravel," Cupid replies.

"Spoken like a real tool," Triton replies.

Melinoe rolls her eyes. "Like you are any better." Triton glares at Melinoe, and whispers, "Supporting Cupid won't make him marry you Mel."

Melinoe's face turns crimson. "Shut up," she tells Triton which only makes him laugh harder.

Cupid puts his hand on her shoulders, and tells Triton to stop mocking Melinoe. "As much as I enjoyed spending time with you guys," Athena sarcastically says. "I have some important work to do that does not involve looking for a new victim."

Cupid rolls his eyes at her, and Melinoe says, "Sorry guys minus Triton." That makes him scoff. "I do have to go with Athena. We plan on checking if people are really creating tunnels that will lead to the underworld." They bid farewell to the goddesses, and Dionysis says, "Luckily, I have no where to be, but I did hear from a friend of a friend, that there will be a party filled with nymphs, fairies and meremaids."

At that, Triton and Cupid grin, and follow their friend chatting happily since they had no obligations asides goint to look for beautiful females. Which in truth is not an obligation, but they would beg to differ.
