Chapter 11 - Preparation

"It's not…your Mother is not a noble Lady, your Father called it a rumor so no one will criticize her or you….She was a merchant, due to business reasons, we met by chance, became best friends and then sworn sisters. We shared everything with each other, even when your mother met your Father, it was just a pure coincidence"

She paused taking a sip of water as she carefully watched the shock in Corvina's eyes.

"Your Mother gave her first time to your Father by accident, though the result was promising, it was too risky. She was already bethroted before meeting your Father, but that didn't deter the young Crown prince from taking his bride. I was employed in the palace as a maid to watch over you till you become queen, but no one expected that unfortunate incident that happened 11 years ago, so…" She sighed.

"So what…?" Corvina's gently asked expecting more shocking news, but what she received was a chuckle.

"Find the rest out yourself, you're a princess after all…" She smirked

"Find the rest out myself…?" Corvina doubted her own hearing.

"Yes, there are a lot more to this, until then you must not act rashly, this is your first assignment, to be my successor"

"I'm not interested" Corvina replied bluntly.

"You'll be…trust me"

"But I….

"That's enough Corvina…!" She yelled, surprising Corvina in an extreme way.

"You've changed…"

"It's for you sake Corvina, you'll understand everything soon…"

"I don't want to understand…!" Corvina yelled rushing out of the room and the restaurant unto the street to who knows where.

"Anut why did you change…?" Tears streamed down her face as she kept running.

On reaching a quiet bar, unaware how she got there, she pushed open the door and walked in. The bartender watched the beauty lady who walked through the door, so as all the young men in the bar, no one was able to escape her charm.

Being used to all eyes on her wherever she went, Corvina boldly sat at a chair beside the door, waiting for who was about to leave, so she could asked her way back.

Five hours later,

The sun had gone down and the sky darkened, still puzzled, if she should leave first, but again, she didn't know this place.

"Just five more minutes" she persuaded herself as everyone refused to leave and just kept stealing glances at her.

After making up her mind, five minutes later, just as she was about to leave, about ten roughly looking men barged into the bar, stunned Corvina for a second, as she knows she has to leave.

"Come on brothers, It's time…!" A bearded man stood on top of the counter, shouting his lungs out, as cheers echoed through the whole bar.

Knowing fully well how trouble looks like, she tried to open the door again, only to be pulled back by a drunk man.

"I have been watching you for a long time, now it's time to have fun…Come with me…!" He said chuckling as the smell of alcohol filled her nostrils, making her nauseous, for some reason, she felt unable to breathe and her vision became blurry, she passed out.

Opening her eyes, The bright sunlight penetrating the window as the warm smell of daybreak filled her nostrils. As she stared at the ceiling absent mindedly for about a minute.

Suddenly, realization dawned on her, she did not know where she was as she surveyed the room with vigilance.

The bedroom was enormous, decorated in a masculine tone of gray and black, though it looked weary at first glance, it unknowningly gives a sense of security within it's dark colors with a sense of familiarity added to it.

Corvina found herself standing away from the large king sized bed, as her face twisted from bliss to horror, on what she saw.

"What?...stop…!"

"Please stop…! Don't hurt her…!"

Her tears fell like a broken dam, but all her pleading seemed to be unheard by the two people entangled on the bed.

"Anut…?"

Her vision quickly became blurry as the scene before her disappeared.

Panting heavily, she hurried up from the bed which she laid, scanning the room like she did earlier, but to her surprise everything was fine and clean, though the room gave off a weird vibe.

"Why am I… In this place…?"

"Where am I…?" Her voice trailed out as she tried to open the door before her eyes but, only to find out it was locked from the outside.

Unwilling to signal the enemies, she quietly remained in the room reminiscing on her dream earlier, or was it even a dream?

The sound of the door begin opened, as Corvina, quickly remained her posture of sleeping trying not to alert the other person in the room.

Soon enough, the door was closed as slowly footsteps walked towards her.

With a helpless sigh, the person walked away, into what seemed to be the bathroom as pouring of water could be heard as the door was slightly ajared.

Slowly creeping from the bed, she tiptoed beside the door as she watched the woman careful washing her body, which was surprisingly full with scratches and hickeys, all the way to her back, it was a horrible site.

Corvina unintentionally grasped loudly, shocking the woman as she hurriedly tried to cover her body but to no avail.

"So it's true…?"

Floria tried to explain but was unable to, due to the sore feeling of her body.

"Hiss…!"

"Why…? You promised you'll never do something like that again, why did you go back on your words…?" Her tears made Floria's heart clench in pain by she endured and looked away trying not to cry before the young princess, who was pampered, and knew nothing about the world and the men in it, who where driven by lust.

She knew one day, the princess will grow up, but she didn't want her to be in the mercy of others. especially men who dominated the Empire, wishing her a good growth and mature mind, but at the moment, she was having second thoughts, she couldn't hide her forever, and she knew that, the least she could do was prepare her.
