Chapter 17 - sneaking in

"Wait here, I'll go check if the Coast is clear, there will be problems if someone sees us like this…" Cynthiana offered.

"Umm…!" Corvina nodded in understanding at the same time hoping that Floria was not looking for her as she had been out for almost the whole day, talk less about the spies, if the had not already informed her.

Soon enough, a caretaker of the house was passing by, coming out of where seems to be the kitchen with a bag of trash as she dumped it outside the house before shutting the back door as the loud sound of the blots been shut was heard.

"There goes our ninety-three percent chance of not being caught…" Cynthiana sighed in frustration.

"Corvina…Corvina…Cor..What…!" She accidentally yelled as she found Corvina who didn't answer her when she called, speedily climbing the walls of her room like she was born to climb.

"Sh*t….!" She cussed as she also started climbing the walls of the house after ensuring that the was no one in sight.

Corvina arrived at her room which was not very far from the entrance, upon her arrival, she immediately ran to her bed, to check as she forgot about the snake earlier during her little adventure.

Rising her pillow, she found the bed empty, which was not unexpected but her fear lies if a servant came to clean her room when she was out and saw the snake by accident. But then again if something that serious has happened, she would have known on her return as there will be rumours.

Sure even, few minutes later, the hissing of a snake was heard from under the bed, as it crawled all the way to Corvina's hand, curling itself on her. As it hissed in her ear, though not threateningly, it was enough to make shivers run down a person's spine, but not Corvina's.

"I thought you would have been snake soup by now…?"

The snake hissed in protest but calmly laid on her shoulders as she brought it's body up to her face, checking for any injuries which she found non.

"So why and how did you get here…?"

Though talking to a snake seemed weird, Corvina had the feeling that the snake could understand her and so she proceeded with her inquiries.

It just hissed in response to all her questions which she found annoying, until the Snake attack her, biting her collar, it's teeth penetrating her bone, as she passed out on her bed from the excruciating pain that spread through out her body.

At the Palace

"Your Majesty, The Emperor has come to see you…" A maid who just entered the Empress Dowager's room, immediately went on her knees as she delivered the message.

"Let him in…" The Empress Dowager conculed as she awaited him.

"Good Evening Mother…" Derek went to his Mother's side as he gave her a peck on the cheek.

"I'm surprised you remember your Mother after spending your time with the young Lady Tiana…" She teased him awaiting his response, to which he said nothing as his gaze was in the painting she made.

"Mother this is beautiful…" He said taking the portrait as he took a closer look.

"If I may ask Mother, Who is this…?" His gaze not leaving the portrait.

"To be honest, I don't know…but I keep seeing her in my dreams…" The Empress Dowager responded.

It was a beautiful protrait, one could tell at a glance though the woman only had a back view. Her dark Curly hair cascading down her back as she faced the raising sun sitting on top a tree branch above a river in a peach pink dress as the wind played with her hair.

"It's so detailed, did you see her face…?" Derek asked.

"No…I just decided to draw it, you can take it if you want…" She offered to which he rejected at the same time excusing himself to return to his room to rest as he had been busy the whole day.

"I will excuse myself Mother…"

"It's alright…"

In the dead of night when no soul was in sight, a dark figure stood in the mist of ruins.

"Master…" the solitude was interrupted but a call.

"You come here everyday and go back empty handed everytime, why do you still return here…?"

"I thought I didn't care about anyone, until her met her, even if she never acknowledged me, I still can't stop thinking about her, hoping that one day I'll see her again…"

"But Master…What if you don't, what if like every other thing you had, she's gone for good never to return again…? Yuvo asked a little disappointed.

"She was the first one that came into my mind when I saw that protrait on my Mother's desk…"

"Then why didn't Master take it even if he wanted it that badly…?"

"It a normal thing for a human to refuse something that will remind them of their pain Yuvo…Don't asked again!" Derek ordered.

"But Master is not human…" This Statement earned a smirk from Derek as he said nothing else, leaving the ruined place and appearing in his bedroom in a matter of seconds.

"Yuvo…Stand outside, if anything comes in, you will have yourself to blame…" ordering this, he stepped inside his door as the doors automatically shut upon his entry.

'I never want to be human…' Yuvo silently swore as he extended his aura around the Palace not letting anyone and anything sneak pass under his nose, as he knew the state of mind his Master was in, and any mishaps can Tigger something unimaginable.

Meanwhile inside the Emperor's spacious room was an enlarged protrait of a familiar young lady with dark hair neatly packed in a bun in a beautiful red dress, sitting at a window with a glass of wine in her hand as she gazed outside the window under the full moon, adding a glow to her beautiful, calm yet charming demeanor.
