Chereads / Corvina / Chapter 7 - Misunderstanding

Chapter 7 - Misunderstanding

Panicked and frustrated, she ran to the bedroom, unpacking all of Corvina's clothes for the cupboards and Closet, stuffing them into a bag, without arranging them nearly.

"Corvina, hurry up and come back…!" Tears welled up in her eyes due to fear, as she rampaged everywhere not leaving any stone unturned.

"If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have allowed you to go to that ball…!" She silently swore, still engulfed in fear.

She searched everywhere, taking out all her savings and jewelries as she shut all the windows.

Fortunately for her, The Young man at the door, together with the gossiping neighbors had already dispatched as the quietness and silence returned.

Thirty minutes later,

Waiting for Corvina for almost an hour, Floria became anxious about her well-being, worried that she might have met trouble on her way back.

Together with all the thing's she packed, though not many, but still caused her some inconvenience, she ventured into the forest to find Corvina, as it was already past seven.

Though people lived at the outskirts, the forest was still forbidden to enter as dangerous creatures lured within, as the thick tall trees prevented rays of sunlight leaving the place dark and damp all year round as strange noises echoed from within every once in a while.

Corvina on the other hand, who just finished crying her eyes out, was about to return, thinking Floria must be worried about her.

On her way back, she suddenly heard the rustling of leaves, as slow footsteps wandered around the forest in the late night, arousing her curiosity on who that brave soul could be.

"Corvina…!" Hearing her name snapped Corvina out of her thoughts in an instant.

"What…?"

"Corvina where are you…?" The voice sounded like it was on the verge of breaking down.

"Floria… is that you?" Corvina couldn't think of anyone who would call her so desperately, the last time Floria called her that way was after the death of her parents, feeling it was something of urgency, Corvina wasted no time running to her.

"What happened Floria…?" Her voice sounded choked as she had been crying for almost an hour already.

"Corvina…! We have to move, he found us!" Though relieved to find Corvina save, the fear was still yet to settle as she panickingly narrated everything that happened to Corvina, though leaving out the part of the berating Crowd, she ended it with the anger expression on Derek as she shut down at his face.

"I have to go back and get something, I will hurry, just wait for me here…" Saying this she rushed back in the direction Floria came.

Being too late to stop her, Floria fell to the ground as tears once again welled up in her eyes. Unable to endure the fear and worry again, Floria ran after Corvina, not caring about their bags which she dropped due to its weight slowing her down.

After about ten minutes of running,

They both arrived at the outskirts of the city which luckily for them was closer to the forest.

To their astonishment, every building seemed to be rampaged, as some were torn apart, as the scent of blood filled the air.

Shock was so evident on Floria's face as she couldn't even move and just stared at the bloody scene before her.

"What happened here…?" The gruesome scene was enough to give someone nightmares for a lifetime, assorted body parts could be seen, of both men women and child, limbs and severed heads were lying around in a bloody mess.

"Corvina, we have to go…!" Floria cried, Unable to take it anymore, Floria pulled Corvina who seemed to be in a daze.

"We have to leave now…!" She kept yelling as she noticed Corvina's gaze, who was looking into the distance night as her pupils dilated, panic for the first time in many years flashed across Corvina's eyes.

"Anut Floria, you have to leave now…!" Saying this, she positioned herself in front of Floria, who gave her a puzzled look as to what she was being protected from.

"Aunt leave.. now…!" Corvina shouted, stunned Floria in which she moved subconsciously running back into the forest still unaware why, but one thing was sure, she trusted Corvina.

"Be careful" she muttered as she disappeared into the forest.

Corvina stood face to face with what seemed like a werewolf, but had six legs and three eyes, one horizontal in between his brows.

Howl…!

It let out a low howl as it stepped into the moonlight with what looked like a child's limb in-between its teeth as it gumbled it up whole.

"What the hell are you…?" She threatened and she just stared at it, ready to use magic and destroy it at any second.

'How could something be so powerful and destroy so many people at once…?' her thoughts remained unanswered as the battle began.

On returning to the palace,

He came towards a huge staircase and went up the stairs, he then went along the corridors, and he didn't stop until he went through a set of big doors, which led to an open air garden. The garden was a beautiful sight to behold, the flowers were in full bloom, an assortment of different types and colors, and the petals seemed to be glowing from the more light. But that wasn't all, the view from where he stood was Magnificent, but he was in no mood to enjoy all this.

Walking across the huge garden, he arrived at a huge door, which was facing the huge garden.

Opening the door, he walked into a courtyard, where servant's seemed to be doing one or two chores.

On seeing him, a young servant girl ran over in hurried steps, almost tripping. As she made a royal bow before him.

"Where's my Mother…?" His voice with it's usually indifference.

"Oh! The dowager Empress is in her room, should I get the eunuch to announce your presence, he is quite busy…?" She offered as she look at the ground.

Walking passed her without a word, he entered the room but was stunned to see a young lady in a nightwear serving tea with no presence of his Mother in the room.
