"You know, thinking of Mondstadt, I always think of it as a little chilly with all the wind." Shimmer commented, looking at the windmills spin, "You'd think that, but the most cold there is comes when wind blows from Dragonspine." Gloom explained, motioning to the frozen mountain near the city.
As they approached the entrance to the town, two guards immediately crossed their spears to block their advance, "Halt! Identify your-!" One of the two roughly started before lightening in recognition, "Oh Gloom! Sorry I didn't realize it was you." He apologized as he and the other let them through, "No worries, Snezhnaya also had quite a watch lately." Gloom reassured as she went in followed by Shimmer.
Looking back at the guards, Shimmer was a little confused, "Hey... Why is the City of Freedom so uptight?" She asked, confused at how aggressive they seemed, "There have been some less than amicable people coming from Remnant in recent months." Gloom explained with a slight frown, remembering how some had the gull to try and bully Melusines.
"Remnant? This place might be a lot more complex than I thought." Shimmer thought to herself, knowing that's the name of a completely different show, or world at this point, "Anyway, what do you want to eat? My treat." Gloom offered as she stopped at Good Hunters counter.
Shimmer paused to think about it, "A Pile 'Em Up, that seems good." she requested, prompting Gloom to place their orders and then brought them to a table when ready, "Didn't think you'd like meat." Gloom commented, referring to Shimmer's order, "Didn't think you'd like seafood." The white colored girl commented, looking at the Seafood Soup.
As they ate, some time passed and they chatted a bit about stuff, "So this world is a result of thousands being mixed together by the leader of this M.L.E. who is the same God that brought me here." Shimmer summarized, sounding a little too nonchalant about it, "Pretty much that's how it went." Gloom confirmed after she swallowed a bite of crab, looking pleased, "A lot has changed since M.L.E. fully came into Teyvat's business." She added.
That cryptic comment peaked at Shimmer's interest, "What changed exactly?" She asked curiously, "Well, the world mix as I said, an old place called Celestia was destroyed and the Fatui changed business tactics." Gloom listed off, surprising Shimmer with the last one, "The Fatui? Biggest terrorist organization on Teyvat?" Shimmer questioned for clarification.
"Wow you know really old stuff." Gloom commented, having heard that the Fatui used to be a menace years back, "But yeah, they are now Snezhnaya's main political and military force." She confirmed, and as if on cue, two Fatui agents passed by them, lightly bowing to Gloom.
The bow went unnoticed by Shimmer who was focused on her meal and the discussion, "Honestly that's not far from what I thought would happen after their objective was achieved." She admitted with a small smile, "By the way, you said you got here at five, that must mean someone raised you." She pointed out, figuring the time gap.
"That would be Father- wait you know who Father is right?" Gloom asked dubious of her assumption, "Must be Arlecchino everything considered." Shimmer replied with a shrug, "Guess you know more than I expe- What do you have on your ear?" Gloom questioned, having noticed something appearing on Shimmer's ear.
That note made Shimmer reach to her ears and find some kind of earring on her left one, "I don't know..." She responded as she took the thing off and inspected it, "...This is a Vision..." She commented, "...It's not normal to get one so randomly..." Gloom informed, "Like... Not at all." She insisted, looking a bit worried too.
The two took a very close look at the Vision to see what element it is and saw that it's white with what looked like a sun design in it, "Wow, an Archonless Vision..." Gloom said in awe, "...What." Shimmer let out in confusion, "Right: Basically with world merging and everything, new elements were created and they don't have Archons, yet at least, but you get what I mean." Gloom explained.
Having said that, Gloom reached in her shirt and pulled out a pendant that housed her own Archonless Vision, this one being black with an eye design in it, "After some comparing with people that also have one of this element, we decided to call it Shade." She explained, focusing some of it's power in her hand, creating a bubbling black substance that seemed almost corrosive.
"So what is mine then?" Shimmer asked to which she got a shake of the head, "This is the first one like this I ever saw." Gloom replied, "So I'm the first one, great." Shimmer summarized in a slightly agonized tone, "Well... Try it so you can name it." Gloom invited, to which Shimmer began trying various things to utilize the Vision.
After some failed attempts, Gloom stepped in, "Shimmer- Wait- y-you're doing it wrong." She stuttered a bit trying to word it well, "Really? I never would have guessed." Shimmer sarcastically responded, "Funny, anyway, you're trying to use it like a tool, you're supposed to use it like a part of your body." Gloom instructed.
With that new understanding of how it worked, Shimmer tried using the Vision by willing the power out, and it worked, but not knowing anything else other than that, the only thing that happened is that a blinding flash came out of it that blinded everyone for a few seconds.
"Okay I got it! The Shine!" Shimmer proclaimed proudly, still lightly dazed though, "Don't be so proud of that..." Gloom scolded lightly, "Lady Gloom!" A Fatui agent said as they came running, "The Tsaritsa requests your presence at the Palace!" He said with a bow, "Yeah okay, got it, "I'll be there in a moment." Gloom responded.
"Oh a business deal?" Shimmer asked, figuring that's what a mead maker would do, "I guess you can put it like that?" Gloom confirmed uncertainly, "Can I come?" Shimmer asked with her eyes shining a bit, "...I guess no one is going to get hurt by that." Gloom accepted, grabbing onto Shimmer's wrist and dragging her along.
