Zara bolted out of the bar, her heart pounding in her chest. The creature's feral presence lingered in the air, and she felt a primal fear coursing through her veins. She had to get away, to escape the darkness that threatened to consume her.
But her escape was short-lived. A powerful hand grabbed her arm, halting her in her tracks. She turned to see Zane, his eyes filled with concern and a hint of understanding.
"Wait," he said, his voice low and commanding. "Don't run."
Zara struggled to break free, but his grip was surprisingly strong. She could feel the warmth of his skin against hers, and a strange tingling sensation coursed through her veins.
"I know you're scared," he said, his voice gentle. "But you don't need to be."
"I'm not scared," she lied, her voice trembling. "I'm just... confused."
"I understand," he said, nodding. "We all go through a period of adjustment when we first discover our true nature."
"My true nature?" she echoed, her eyes widening in disbelief. "What are you talking about?"
"You're a werewolf, Zara," he said, his voice unwavering. "A hybrid, a creature of both worlds."
Zara's breath hitched. "A werewolf?" she repeated, still unable to believe it. "But that's not possible."
"It is," he said, his voice growing firm. "I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth. I'm a werewolf too."
Zara stared at him, her mind reeling. She had so many questions, but none seemed to matter in the face of this revelation.
"How is this possible?" she asked, her voice barely audible.
He motioned towards the bar, and Zara, still dazed, followed him inside. They found a secluded booth in the back, away from the noise and commotion of the crowd.
"Are you really a werewolf?" asked Zara, looking at Zane's blue eyes.
"Yes. I am" Zane answered, holding her gaze steadily. There is something mesmerizing in her hazel eyes that makes him does not want to look elsewhere.
"My parents... they never told me anything," Zara whispered, her heart heavy. "I was raised by my aunt. And she never mentioned about my parents being werewolf". Zara looked at her hand, still trembling.
"It's not uncommon," Zane replied. "Many parents choose to shield their children from the truth, fearing the dangers and prejudice of the world. But now that you know, you can embrace your true self and join us."
"Join you? Why? I need to ask my aunt. Maybe she can explain about my parents", She tried to move but was held by Zane.
"Wait. I know you want answers. But you need to calm down and take a deep breath. Don't act hastily. I will accompany you to see your aunt".
"No! What if she does not know anything? Your presence will scare her", Zara said, shaking her head.
Zane chuckles. "Why? Am I that terrifying? Are you afraid of me, Zara?", Zane asked. A smile plastered on his face.
