As Jay and Grayson walked further into the chaos world, the amount of creatures started increasing
"Woah!" Remarked Grayson "That looks like a 3☆ monster!"
There was a wolf like beast in the distance and looking at it Jay confirmed that it was a 3☆ monster.
[Warning! Predatory Instincts has detected a powerful being! Be cautious!]
"I can sense its aura, be careful," Grayson warned.
"I can see that," said Jay in response
As the 2 walked further away, they were suddenly thrown off their feet by an earthquake.
"Look! It's a 2☆ Earth Bear! If we kill it, we will get a lot of points! Grayson remarked.
"Here's the plan, as I have no talent, I will be the one to distract the bear and as it is chasing me, you will bring down your light sword and kill it" added Jay
"Sounds like a good plan, ready when you are!" Grayson replied.
Jay then took out a torch and lit it, attracting the bears attention "Over here you ugly monster! Your opponent is here!" Yelled Jay.
The bear soon began to chase after Jay, swiping is massive paws at him.
[Predatory Instincts detecting a fatal attack! Initiating quick dodge!] Jay looked behind him and saw the bears claw nearing him.
As the claw was about to hit, Jays body twisted unnaturally as he evaded the fatal blow.
"I gotta be more wary of attacks" muttered Jay "Good going there! I just finished up my attack, get out of the way" Grayson yelled, his sword beaming with a golden light.
[System detecting A-Tier talent: Holy Knight, do you wish to copy it?] A blue screen once again appeared in front of Jay.
"This was what I was waiting for!" Jay said with a smirk, pushing the "yes" button.
[Copying the A-Tier skill: Holy Knight! The skill will be temporary downgraded due to restrictions] [You have acquired the B-Tier skill: Paladin!]
[Paladin:
Effect 1: You will deal 50% extra damage to any darkness creatures including shadow beasts and the undead.
Effect 2: You can infuse your weapon with bits of holy energy to use in your fights.]
"Perfect" smirked Jay. "Rahhhh!" Yelled Grayson as he brought down his holy sword, bisecting the bear.
As the bears corpse faded a message rang out to all the students; [Attention! The first 2☆ monster has been slain by students Grayson and Jay! Double points will be awarded!]
A red screen appeared in front of Grayson and Jay, [Congratulations, you have slain the first 2☆ monster, double points will be awarded]
Another screen appeared in front of them, displaying their current points, "We are both at 1000 points! We only need 1000 more to complete the assessment and get on the leaderboard!" Grayson smiled.
During the assessment, students can stay longer and accumulate more points, placing them on the leaderboards and earning extra rewards.
"Let's kill more of those bastards" Sneered Jay.
Around 2 kilometers away, Damon looked on with a frown "Thay damn brat, relying on his friend and stealing my rewards!" "I will teach him a lesson when we get out."
Damon could only kill 1☆ monsters and was having trouble killing a 2☆, he could only look on in jealousy as the A-Tier geniuses were sweeping through.
"Leena, look! Someone got the first kill before you!" Leenas friend Mira said. "That's strange, I thought Jay had no talent, he seems quite interesting"
Leena then got off the corpse of a 2☆ with its heart pierced with a spear of ice. "Looks like I have competition for the 1st spot" Leena smiled.
Grayson and Jay continued cleaving their way through the crowd of monsters.
"Look! We have 1700 points, we are almost done!" Grayson cheerfully remarked. "All we need is another 2☆ monster to appear." Jay added.
After progressing a little while longer, Jay noticed something strange. "The ground here looks melted, it might be poison" "let's be cautious" Grayson replied.
As if in response to their observations a loud hissing sound came from behind the 2.
As Jay and Grayson turned around they came face to face with a 3☆ snake.
[Warning! Dangerous monster confirmed! Please be cautious.]
[B-Tier talent: Paladin has detected a shadow beast, increasing all stats by 50% when in battle]
"Jay, I can feel my powers rising, my holy talent counters this monster, if we kill it, we will definitely be first!" Grayson said.
"This is a dangerous monster please be careful, I will be the bait this time but this monster won't go down so easily" replied Jay.
The battle soon commenced with Jay drawing the serpents attention.
"Over here, no legs!" He yelled. As if in response, the snake gave a loud "Hisssss" as it chased after him.
[Warning! System had detected the snake using an A-Tier talent!] An A-Tier talent? Jay asked, confused.
[Monsters can have abilities too]
"I see" responded Jay
[Shadow Snake has begun to use its A-Tier ability: Whisper of the shadows! Do you wish to copy?] "yes" replied Jay.
[Whisper of the shadows has been successfully copied!] [Something has gone wrong with the system! Talent will be upgraded instead of downgraded!]
"What!?" Jay asked, even more confused, but before he could receive an answer, the snake began to use its skills.
As Jay looked at the snake, he didn't see any attack coming but when he looked down, he saw many projectiles coming out of his shadow
"Grayson, be careful! The snake can attack through your shadow!"
"Good to know, I'll make sure to remember that" Grayson replied, he had almost gathered up enough energy for the second swing"
Jay then ducked under some nearby rocks and looked at his new talent.
[Call of the shadows (S):
Effect 1: you are allowed to pass any object/attack through any creatures shadow.
Effect 2: You can melt into any shadow and hide there.
Effect 3: You can place a curse on anything with a shadow, the curse will slow down movement by 25% and cause blindness (only can be used on one target at a time)]
As Jay finished reading up the new skill, the snake finally found him and destroyed the rock that was hiding him.
"Jay! Move out of the way!" Grayson yelled, swinging down his sword.
The snake tried to block it but was hit hard in the skull, knocking it down.
The snake was not dead yet and was beginning to rise again before a quick movement happened and collapsed the snake.
[The 3☆ shadow snake has been defeated! An extraordinary feat! 5000 points have been awarded!]
"How did that happen?" Grayson asked.
