Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Luna got into the car and did not say a word as she stared out the window. This man was her living nightmare.

There was no point in her trying to refuse as she knew where this would go, with her seated in here at the end.

So the sooner the better, let her get over and done with.

"I see you're mulling over Dave."

Luna swallowed at his words, as she knew that they were true, and there was no point in denying it.

She also felt humiliation as to what he had made her do, and was grateful that their time had been cut short. What would he have made her do?

"I'm allowed to feel hurt. If I didn't, I would not be a human."

"Move on from him."

"I will, it takes time. I just can't flip a switch. We're all not made that way."

"Come to me. I will take care of you. You won't need to worry about anything. All you have to do is say, and you will have everything."

She turned and looked at him for the first time. "Who said I wanted to be taken care of?"

Ace shook his head, "This is a first."

Luna turned back and carried on staring outside.

"Why do you look defeated?" Ace asked and Luna could feel that he had gentled.

"I'm just tired."

"So take up my offer."

Luna sighed, "Not like that."

"Then in what way?"

Luna was surprised. "Why do you care?"

Luna could tell by the silence that he too had caught himself by surprise.

"You're right."

They did not say a word to one another, Luna got out of the car when they arrived at her place.

"Thank you."

With that, she went into her apartment and lay on her bed. Luna had not bothered to change.

Dave was in her mind, not caring or greeting her. After all that she had done for him, what a coward she thought.

He was beyond an absolute loser. The following evening Luna was glad that she was not assigned to their table as she hadn't got much sleep.

Luna knew that it was going to be a long and gruesome night. She couldn't ask the manager to be excused, as she had already done that.

"You look like a zombie."

She turned to Nora. "And I feel like one."

"Ask the manager to let you go early."

"Like he is going to let me, as I have already done that, he will think that I don't want to work. You know how he is.

Her friend smiled in sympathy as she headed to her table.

Luna worked, trying not to be too overwhelmed. She had a break on Saturday and Sunday. She just had to make it through tonight.

When they finished, everyone dispersed. Ace's car stopped next to her, and she climbed in. She was beyond tired and was grateful that he would give her a ride.

Luna leaned by the window seal and stared outside. Her head hurt so much, her feet were in pain.

She did not want to look at Ace, nor did she want to talk to him, and he seemed to have gotten the memo as he did not say a word. He only stared at her.

Which she did not care about, as long as they got to her place, that was all that mattered.

She began to feel slightly dizzy.

"Luna, Luna?"

Luna could hear her name being called out from a distance, but everything closed in on her.

Luna woke up feeling way too hot and took a deep breath, but then events from last night came dawning in.

She found Ace holding her tightly, and he looked peaceful, as he pulled her closer, she was still in her clothes.

When everything fully set in, she began struggling,

"Ace, let go of me."

He opened his eyes, and when he realized how he was holding her, he pushed her away from him.

"I don't know how that happened."

"Wipe the drool off your face." She teased him.

He chuckled,

"Wow, do I see a smile?" She too was surprised that he was capable of a genuine smile, and she hit herself in the head.

She should not play with him, he would take it the wrong way and implicate her further into his never-ending advances.

Ace became serious once more as if it was a weakness.

"What happened?"

"You fainted in my car and I had to take you home with me, and the doctor said that you needed rest and you're stressed."

Luna nodded.

"What is going on?"

Luna took a deep breath. "Nothing much."

"You can tell me."

"You care that much for me?"

Ace took her wrist and pulled her in, he kissed her, and when he pulled back, she was breathing heavily.

"That's what I want from you."

"Well, you're not getting it."

"We will see."

Luna noticed something. "Why are you shirtless?"

"That's how I sleep."

"Fine, let me get out of your hair."

"You're staying here for the whole day."

"No, I refuse."

"I was not asking you, I'm telling you."

"Why?"

"I need to see that you get enough rest. The bathroom is over there, a new towel, clothes, everything that you need."

There was no point in fighting once more. She was a bit tired, Ace would drain her further.

Luna went to the bathroom and locked the door immediately, and could hear that she earned another chuckle from him.

When she had freshened up, she came out and Ace was also done, he looked good, even in casual clothes.

What was she thinking? No, he was attractive, that she could not deny, it was human nature. Her finding him attractive was only natural.

"Come."

They went to the kitchen and ate. She wolfed down her food,

"Careful, you might choke."

Luna looked up, as she swallowed a huge bite. "I'm fine."

Ace seemed to be amused with the way she was eating and seemed to be taken aback when she went in for seconds.

"How much can you fit in?"

Luna carried on eating. When she was full she turned to Ace.
