Luna had waited for Ace to fall asleep, and she snuck out of his room very quietly. When she got to the living room, she jumped when she saw the girls.
The way they all looked at her with daggers, and that made her hair crawl a bit.
"Could you help me with transportation? I want to leave."
She knew that they would be happy at her words, as they hated her and did not want her here.
"Does Ace know?" Kenzie replied.
"No, but he had said he would let me go today. So I figured that it would not make any difference as to how I would get back to my place."
They all nodded. "Fine, just wait a moment."
Luna got into the cab and made her way back to her place. She locked the doors, showered to get rid of any memory of Ace, and climbed into her bed.
She had missed it so much and she felt some relief.
Luna had taken a week off because there was no way that she could face Ace and she had taken a picture to show her boss that she had gotten into an accident.
Which he allowed and Luna spent every day applying ointment on her bruise. After a week it had turned horribly purple and black.
She had to use a lot of makeup to cover it up and arrived at her work.
"You lost so much weight." Said Nora as she hugged her, and Luna knew that her friend knew that she was going through something.
Luna had to choke back the tears, and they pulled apart.
"I had an accident, and it affected my jaw, so I have been drinking liquids as I can't eat."
"How are you feeling now?"
"Better, I'm beginning to eat properly once, so I should be able to put the weight back again."
Luna wanted to tell her the truth, but she did not know how Nora would react. It was best that her friend would not be worried about her.
She already had stress, there was no need to drag her into this mess, too.
When Ace walked in, she trembled in fear and did not look at him. She refused to do so.
Sienna came back beaming after attending to his table.
"Lucky you." Said Ruby.
"I guess they replaced you." Valerie.
"With?" she asked, confused.
"Ace has been making Sienna serve him and gives her hefty tips," Ruby replied.
Sienna smiled from ear to ear. "He even speaks to me and lets me stand with him as he smokes."
"I'm happy for you." She breathed out in relief that he would no longer bother her.
"Are you?" Sienna replied.
"Of course she is. Don't you remember that Luna refused to serve him?" Nora cut in and she was happy her friend had come to her defense.
"Let's head back to work before we get in trouble." Said Ruby.
Luna smiled at Nora, and her friend smiled back at her, giving her a sign that she had her back. The night went on and it finished without any problems.
In the following days, Sienna was called by Ace, and Nora came to her.
"What are we doing Friday night?"
She smiled and made a dance motion. "Guess."
Nora laughed, "Dress to kill."
"Then we step on their necks."
"Step on who's neck?"
Luna turned to William, who looked at her, puzzled. She scratched her head and Nora burst out laughing. "Excuse me, my table is calling me."
Now Luna was left with William as he looked at her in amusement.
"I can explain."
"Yes?"
"The thing is......β¦."
"Yes."
She could not tell him about their plans. "Never mind, I can't say."
He didn't press her. "Which tables are you serving?"
She pointed, "Those."
"Please bring me the menu, Mam."
She gave him a are you kidding stare, "Why of course Sir, this way."
They got to the table, "Would you like me to open the seat for you, Sir?"
"It would be an honor mam."
As she was about to, he chuckled, "I was playing."
"What shall I get for you?"
"Your recommended wine."
"Anything else?"
"Does it come with you?"
She rolled her eyes and froze; he searched her face,
"Are you okay?"
Luna took a deep breath and remembered that William was not Ace. "Yes."
She went back and got him his drink, and poured it for him.
Luna and Nora went out, she felt free. Luna was thankful that Ace was truly interested in Sienna.
When was the last time that she was this carefree? When the night finished, Luna changed and went to bed.
When Sunday came, she relaxed the whole; the sun felt lovely. When she got ready for bed, Luna went to the mirror.
Her bruise had darkened, and part of it was disappearing. She was thankful that her face was about to back to normal.
The following days she went to work and served William. Tonight he was back, and she was serving him.
"Shit!"
"What?"
"It's my ex-girlfriend."
Luna did not look, not wanting to make it obvious, "You have to face her."
"She cheated on me and..."
Luna could feel the pain and vulnerability. "What do you want to do?"
"Could you pretend to be my girlfriend?"
Luna was surprised. "Are you sure?"
"Please Luna, I would owe you."
Luna motioned for Nora to come, and she did. Luna told her what she planned to do and Nora got her covered.
She sat down across from him and could see that his hands were shaking, so Luna placed her hands over his to calm him down.
Which seemed to work as his shaking stopped and she smiled at him reassuringly.
"Who is she?"
The girl was stunning, and the heavens were cruel to her, Ace was going to take his seat as Sienna followed.
No, Ace did not care about her, and William needed her.
"She is my girlfriend."
Luna could tell that Ace had stopped walking and swallowed, he was not looking at her; he had Sienna.
