Luna was sad that she had lied to Dave as she didn't want Ace following them and doing harm.
The following week Lana felt great she saw more of Dave as they went on dates and Ace had not shown up.
Tonight she made sure to dress up as Dave told her they would be going to a gala. Well, Dave had her select a gown and everything else was set.
He opened the car door for her at the back, and he climbed in next to her, and he held her hand.
"I want you to know everything about me before you become my girlfriend"
Luna nodded frantically, as she had wanted this so badly. They arrived, and he held out his hand for her.
She took it and they went inside. Lana saw so many people, most seemed to be scary, yet she held herself if she wanted to be with him.
She knew that she would do anything to be with Dave. They were escorted to their table,
"What is this?" she asked Dave, as other people sat down greeting them.
"People whom I'm involved with."
She nodded, "Okay."
"I will tell you everything later."
"Okay."
"Sir you have been upgraded to table one."
Dave seemed to be surprised and more than pleased. "We would be honored."
Dave took her hand, and they made their way. Luna felt as if she was going to vomit when she saw Ace there.
She averted her gaze, and Dave pulled out her chair as they sat opposite them on a round table.
"Who are they?" The lady asked snobbishly.
"Dave and my date Luna."
"Nice to meet you." She let out.
"I suppose."
"Ace and my date Sadie."
Luna could not doubt that his woman was very beautiful, with golden locks and blue eyes.
"Thank you for having us at your table," Dave replied.
"Don't thank me," Ace replied, and Dave seemed to be confused, but she knew what he implied. He had a girlfriend and he was still shopping around.
How was Sadie so comfortable next to a murderer, and what would she do when he turned on her?
The night began as starters were served and the lights were turned off and the only lights that were there came from the stage.
Dave leaned in and his breath was warm on her neck. "What do you think?"
"It's going well." She whispered back and Luna knew it was the alcohol as she kissed him on the cheek.
She turned her gaze back to the stage. The lights came back on and it was time to dance. She and Dave went to the floor as they danced.
"May I cut in?"
Dave relinquished her way too fast, and she froze. Why was Ace doing this to her? He had a date and there were plenty of other women that he could dance with.
Ace wrapped his hand around her waist tightly, and his other hand held hers.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you."
"Leave Dave and come to me."
"No."
"I will be able to take care of you way much better."
"I'm not with him for money."
"You're young and naïve."
"I don't think I am."
"Why do you say that Luna?"
"I mean, with your reputation, why would I put myself in a situation that could result in me being dead?"
"Fair point, but I don't murder women unless there is a huge reason."
She shivered in his arms. "You scare me too much."
"You will get used to me."
"Lastly, you have a girlfriend, isn't it wrong for you to cheat on her?"
"First of all she is not my girlfriend, I don't commit and Sadie is one of the women that entertain me."
Luna pulled back and looked at him, wondering if he truly meant and with the look on his face, he meant every word.
He grinned, and she averted her gaze, "No, that's a hard no."
"You want me to yourself?"
Lana shook her head. "Nope, you have too much baggage."
He chuckled, "That's a first."
"Well, I'm sure there are plenty of other women who you would find to your liking."
"Not now. You're the only one I want."
"Well, I apologize that the feeling is not mutual."
"It will."
"Your confidence truly knows no bounds."
"There is a reason for it." As he pulled her closer.
She was flush against him, "We have danced for a long time, relinquish me."
"The song has not finished."
"Well, I am."
"Are you dismissing me?"
"Why do you think that?"
"Luna.............."
He now sounded way too dangerous. "I would never dream it in a million years."
Luna wondered when Dave would come and claim her but no he was busy talking. Finally, Ace let her go.
She scurried back to Dave, he did not seem to even notice her, and she grabbed his arm. He just gave her a half-assed smile as if she was intruding.
Luna drank some more and started to feel a bit faint, and it was horribly hot. She went outside and sat on a garden table.
The breeze felt wonderful on her skin.
"This is where you went."
Luna did not care that Ace had followed her outside.
