Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 “Unspoken Bonds”

I really need to learn more, I have no knowledge of how to live in the wilderness. How am I supposed to survive without knowing anything about survival techniques? Lucian thought while walking out of the cafeteria and deciding to go back to the Libary to learn all he could about wilderness survival.

Lucian searched for books about Survival Techniques, Wilderness Skills and First Aid and picked up three of them.

He then made his way to the library and found a quiet spot in a corner.

Lucian opened up the book titled, 'Survival 101.'

It explained everything from the basics of surviving in the wild to finding edible plants and animals and how to hunt. There was also a section explaining how to build shelter and make fire.

Lucian flipped through the pages and read the sections about hunting and building shelters. He was amazed at how detailed the information was.

"Wow, this is really useful stuff. I've learned quite a lot." Lucian murmured aloud.

A few hours have passed

It was now time to go back to the Cafeteria to eat with Shana Lucian thought well leaving the library and going in the direction of the Cafeteria, as he arrived he saw Shana sitting alone at a table reading a book. Lucian walked towards her.

"Oh, you're finally here! Where have you been?" Shana questioned with a look of concern.

"Ahaha, sorry about that I was studying for Wilderness Survival techniques as I don't know anything about the God's Games, and I wanted to prepare myself," Lucian answered honestly.

Shana nodded understanding what Lucian meant by preparing himself.

"Are you hungry… cause I'm famished. Let's go and get some food together." Shana suggested.

Lucian agreed. They both went to the front of the cafeteria and headed straight to the Translucent screens. Well ordering their food.

What Lucian ordered was a plate full of vegetables, fruits, fish meat, eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns and sausages.

On the other hand, Shana chose a sandwich with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise and mustard on bread.

Lucian's meal coated 22 points. Witch left him at a measly 14 points. Ugh, these prices are slowly making me break Lucian thought while waiting for their orders.

While waiting for their order, Lucian noticed that Shana was staring at him.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something wrong?" Lucian asked with a curious expression.

Shana smiled awkwardly.

"No nothing's wrong… Just wondering if you're alright… Your face looks tired… Are you feeling unwell?" She replied.

Lucian shook his head. "I'm fine why? What makes you think that I'm sick?" Lucian asked.

"Well, you always seem so energetic and lively and since yesterday you haven't seemed yourself… Like you're depressed or something..." Shana said with a concerned tone.

"Unsure how to answer Lucian rubbed the back of his head unsure how to explain.

I'm not really depressed I'm just working on Surviving In this peculiar situation and dealing with all the crap that it's given me. It's not easy being a Slave, having to fight every day for survival. But it's not all bad news I have you to help me along the way. Thanks for helping me, Shana." Lucian said with sincerity in his eyes.

Shana smiled shyly.

"Shana blushed slightly, she had never had anyone say such sweet words to her before. Her cheeks flushed bright red as Lucian continued talking to her.

While thinking of a way to find a good way to ask Shana about the God's Games Lucian asked.

"Would you mind talking about the God's Games or is that a sour subject I'm just curious as you already have a Trait?" Lucian asked curiously.

Shana looked away.

"As much as I would love to talk about it I'm strictly not allowed to discuss them. I've been told to keep quiet about that topic. And if anyone asks about it I'm strictly told to not answer. Even if someone tries to ask me directly they'll receive a punch to the face. That's how serious it is." Shana explained.

"Ah… really? Why can't you tell me?" Lucian inquired.

Shana shrugged her shoulders and changed the subject.

"Anyway, let's eat!" Shana suggested.

They both took their seats and started eating.

The two continued chatting until their food was finished.

"Thank you so much for the meal, Shana. I appreciate it." Lucian said with a sincere look.

Shana blushed her face was a deep shade of pink as Lucian thanked her.

"It's my pleasure! Thank you for coming by!" Shana said with a big smile.

She stood up and offered him a handshake.

Lucian accepted her offer.

"Thanks again, Shana. See you later!" Lucian said with a friendly wave.

He left the Cafeteria and headed to his dormitory.

Lucian walked through the halls of the Academy this honestly didn't even feel like an academy it just felt like a place to keep a collar on our necks… it's like they have a goal. That we need to complete I know that we are their slaves or I am their slave I don't really know if they consider the rest slaves too. But what does it matter to me? I'm just trying to survive here.

Once he arrived at his room, Lucian opened the door and entered.

What greeted him was Emelia sitting cross-legged on top of their bed. She had a book open in front of her, and her legs crossed as she read intently.

Emelia stopped reading and looked at Lucian with interest.

"How was your day?" Emelia asked with a cute grin.

"It was alright, I guess. How was yours?" Lucian responded.

"Mine was pretty good, nothing major happened," Emilia replied happily.

"Good, well I should probably go to bed now. Goodnight Emelia!" Lucian said cheerfully.

"Night!" Emelia said as she closed the book.

Lucian laid down on their bed and prepared himself to fall asleep. When Lucian fell asleep Emelia hopped into the bed next to Lucian.

Her body pressed against Lucian as she kissed his cheek.

"Good night, Lucian..."

With that, Emelia fell fast asleep while holding onto Lucian tightly in a bear hug, not willing to let him leave her side.

****

It has officially been 1 month since I've been a slave of Shattered Fang this month all I've done is fight in the arena, earn points and hang out with Emeilia and Shana.

Today was the day that we would enter the God's Games the people that have already been inside and have completed the "Test" and have already awakened a "Trait" are sent somewhere else the only reason I know this is because of Shana and Emelia telling me.

Without any notice, a massive circle encircled Lucian and everyone with a collar around their neck. Then a large portal appeared and a bright light filled the area. Once the light disappeared 7 doors were standing in front of them. Each door has a number written above it. They're numbered 1-7. There were also numbers on the ground beside the door. These numbers correspond to the numbers on the door.

[Pick the difficulty of your test]

A loud voice echoed throughout the arena.

"What do you mean? Pick the difficulty? What does that even mean?" a man who looked like he was in his late 20s shouted angrily. With brown hair and blue eyes, he wore a black suit with a white shirt underneath. His hands clenched into fists as he stood there.

Everyone in the crowd began whispering among themselves.

"Easy mode? Easy Mode? Are you kidding me? Why can't they make it hard? We've earned this after everything we did. It doesn't seem fair that we'll be fighting easy monsters. It won't take us anywhere. It'd be better if we didn't fight at all!" Another man shouted loudly.

His hair was blonde and spiky. He wore a sleeveless hoodie and jeans with a pair of boots on his feet. As soon as the words were spoken, the air around him shimmered and a dark aura surrounded him. Everyone stared at the man with wide eyes and gasped.

He opened his mouth to say more but the sound of a bell rang out through the arena.

"Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Get in line! Don't dawdle! Move! MOVE!!" A woman dressed in a nurse's uniform screamed. She was short and slender with long blond hair tied into a bun.

"Why would I listen to people I don't know? I for sure won't listen to your orders… I didn't come here to be weak, or be put on a leash like a mut." a young teen who looked to be 13 with a small build and messy black hair said.

Everyone opened the door what was inside was a white blank space that had a portal at the end of it the portal was similar to a TV screen except it showed nothing.

They walked toward the portal until someone stepped in front of them.

"Move! Please move!" a man said he looked to be 16 he had greenish-gray hair and a goatee. He wore a tuxedo.

"Excuse me sir, but you need to let us pass. We're supposed to pick the level of difficulty. Right now you're blocking our path." the young kid said.

"Whoa, whoa, hold on there buddy! You shouldn't talk to strangers like that! Especially people who look like they're gonna hurt ya. Now step aside before I have to teach you a lesson."

"That's quite rude to speak to us like that! And anyway, you aren't doing anyone any favours by being in the way! Just wait for your turn to choose and then get outta my way!" the teen replied.

"Oh yeah? Well, maybe next time it's your ass getting kicked! Keep it moving!" the older man said pushing past the younger man.

"Hey!" the teenager shouted trying to stop him. But the man ignored him and kept walking.

The teen's face grew angry.

"Come on, hurry up and choose already. We don't wanna waste time here."

Without listening and watching the other people Lucian went through the 7th door walking down a white room with a purplish portal at the end of it Lucian walked through the portal
