Chapter 17 - Mayor Chu

Lin Yun quickly created budget and expense tables and exported them to a graph on a dashboard.

Chu Gaocheng and Chu Ling'er were immediately impressed by the easy-to-understand data showcase. Both could see the program's benefits; it would definitely improve working efficiency in any workplace.

"It's very advanced," Chu Gaocheng said with admiration. He had seen many programs since the emergence of commercial computers, and this QuickBooks was definitely the best in terms of function and visuals.

Lin Yun had adopted a minimalist design that was popular back on Earth, giving users a comfortable feeling.

"You developed this alone?" Chu Gaocheng asked curiously. "Don't get me wrong, I'm just curious. After all, there are not many top programmers in our country currently."

"Yes," Lin Yun replied firmly. "I have been studying it in my free time."

Chu Gaocheng nodded and asked, "Are you interested in joining the Eastern Academy of Science? I can give you a recommendation. They would definitely welcome an outstanding talent like you."

Lin Yun was surprised. He thought for a moment and said, "Thank you for your offer, Uncle Chu. However, I plan to create my own business. The science academy isn't suitable for me. But we can talk about cooperation."

If Lin Yun joined the Eastern Academy of Science, his freedom would be restricted, and he would have to follow instructions all the time. After living a second life, it was impossible for him to work for anyone. However, cooperation with the academy was definitely the best outcome.

Chu Gaocheng was surprised by Lin Yun's composure. His response was very professional, contrasting with his young age. However, when he considered Lin Yun's family situation, perhaps frequent interaction with customers had made him more mature than his peers.

"That's fine too," he nodded in understanding. "How much do you want to sell it for?"

"My initial price is 199 yuan per license. However, if civil units want to buy in bulk, I can give a discounted price. 100 yuan per license," Lin Yun replied firmly.

The discount might seem excessive, but Lin Yun valued the cooperation more. Once his product was sold to government-related organizations, his name would become known to them, making it easier to sell his next product in the future.

"That's quite a discount," Chu Gaocheng smiled meaningfully. He naturally understood Lin Yun's intention.

"I plan to sell it abroad as well. It will be 99 dollars," Lin Yun smiled faintly. In this world, one dollar was equivalent to two yuan, making it easier for him to set a price.

"Good. You are very ambitious," Chu Gaocheng praised. "I'm very satisfied with the program, and I believe everyone will feel the same. I'll bring it to my unit tomorrow. Now, you should focus on the national exam."

"Thank you, Uncle Chu." Lin Yun was relieved.

Lin Yun demonstrated more of the program and talked about its security aspects. With his decade of experience in programming, it would be difficult for anyone to crack it. Moreover, his encryption was beyond this era, ensuring data safety.

The more he listened, the more amazed Chu Gaocheng became. Each function Lin Yun introduced was a brand new technology and concept. He could no longer remain calm and had already decided to report Lin Yun's name to higher authorities.

In this world, the agriculture industry was number one, alongside real estate. The electronics market had slowly begun to flourish with the emergence of computers. Every country quickly saw the new blue ocean and began to focus on this field.

To catch up with the Federal States, the leader in this field, the Eastern Nation had adopted many policies and begun to cultivate talent. Although Lin Yun had stated his intentions clearly, Chu Gaocheng didn't want to give up.

After exchanging a few more words with Chu Gaocheng, Chu Ling'er and Lin Yun headed to the school for the last-day lecture.

Lin Yun returned home around 8 PM. He took a shower and surfed the internet for a while before going to bed and entering the DDL space.

"Welcome back, Master," Luna immediately greeted him.

"Hey, Luna," Lin Yun smiled. "I want to retrieve the game I exchanged for."

"Right away," Luna waved her hand, and a computer appeared in front of Lin Yun. "Would you like to start the first module?"

"Sure. Let's have a waterfall in the mountains as a background today," Lin Yun said and sat on the comfortable ergonomic chair.

"Understood," Luna responded and waved her hand. The surrounding scenery immediately changed.

Lin Yun looked at the computer and saw a tutorial with the base code of the game. He soon understood that he needed to go through each module to absorb all the knowledge about the game.

Without further thought, he began his learning session.

Unknowingly, 80 hours passed. With a notice from Luna, Lin Yun gradually opened his eyes in the real world.

"It's more troublesome than I thought," Lin Yun murmured to himself. The game looked easy to make, but adding more security aspects required a lot of time tweaking it, not to mention the complex AI.

Lin Yun estimated that he could finish the game within two weeks.

Without further thought, he got up and went to the bathroom. The national exam was finally starting today.

"Let's go, Son," Lin Canghai said and went out to start the mini-truck. Today, he and his wife were going to drive their son to school.

Lin Yun grabbed his bag and headed out with his parents.

Along the way, he saw a long line of cars and police officers providing assistance to all the students.

Lin Yun's mind drifted back to when he had taken the national exam in his past life. This world was the same; everyone paid attention to education. They hoped their children could study well and find good jobs.

Lin Yun used to have that mindset, but after experiencing the real world of adult, he didn't think studying was everything. Going to university was good, but not entirely necessary. In the end, it all depended on the lifestyle people wanted to live. As long as they found their goal early on, it would be much easier to find direction.

Fortunately, Lin Yun found his goal. In this life, he was bound to shake the world…
