Lin Yun spent his weekend working on the Plant vs. Zombie project. He would do his routine exercise and go to a nearby gym in the morning. His progress on both his physique and the project steadily improved.
On Monday, Lin Yun sat in his room, thinking about building his own website. Since he planned to sell QuickBooks abroad, he needed to find a distribution channel, and having his own would be best.
Looking at the internet landscape, Lin Yun discovered that CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript didn't exist yet. Websites were extremely rudimentary and full of unnecessary content. With the 56k connection speed, it would take several minutes to download a page's content.
"What if I create them myself?" Lin Yun suddenly thought about the prospect of becoming the "father" of these programming languages. He could write a book and sell it later, which would certainly bring him a huge income.
He called up the system panel and browsed through the programming languages.
[HTML5 - 100 TP]
[CSS - 50 TP]
[JavaScript - 200 TP]
Lin Yun was surprised by how cheap they were. However, when he thought about the books he already had inside the DDL space, it made sense.
Unfortunately, he didn't have enough TP at the moment. He had to wait for QuickBooks sales to increase.
"Well, never mind." Lin Yun put it aside and prepared to continue the Plant vs. Zombie project.
"Son, have you checked your score?" Wang Chulan suddenly knocked on the door.
Lin Yun glanced at the calendar and realized it was already Monday. The exam scores should be out. He picked up his exam card and went out.
"Let me check it for you," Wang Chulan snatched the card and hurried downstairs, dialing the number.
Lin Yun followed her and saw three familiar faces. It was his aunt's family, looking exactly the same as in his previous life.
"Little Yun," a gentle middle-aged woman looked at him with a smile. She was Lin Canghai's younger sister, Lin Xiaorou.
"It's been a while, Second Aunt," Lin Yun responded politely. In his past life, he had been quite close to his second aunt. After his parents passed away, she was the only one besides his sister who took good care of him.
"Brother!" a lively 15-year-old girl greeted Lin Yun with a bright smile. She was Lin Xiaorou's daughter, Song Yan.
"Little Yan, you've grown taller again," Lin Yun chuckled. He turned to look at a dignified middle-aged man, Song Ming, and said, "How are you, Uncle?"
"I'm good," Song Ming smiled. "We are here to cheer you up today. I heard that you got a good result on the mock exam. Are you confident?"
"We will see soon, Uncle." Lin Yun grinned mysteriously and sat down.
Everyone was looking at Wang Chulan, who was holding the landline phone nervously.
"Brother, I'm going to your school next year," Song Yan said proudly.
Lin Yun gave her a thumbs-up. "Congratulations. Unfortunately, I'll have left by then."
"Yeah, too bad," Song Yan said sadly. "Which university are you going to, Brother?"
"West Lake Institute of Technology. Computer engineering major," Lin Yun replied gently.
"WLIT?" Song Yan was surprised. "I thought you would choose Capital University like Big Sister Xue."
Song Ming and Lin Xiaorou looked at Lin Yun questioningly.
"I don't want to go too far from home, and Capital University's best major isn't computer engineering," Lin Yun explained briefly.
"Big Brother?" Lin Xiaorou turned to Lin Canghai with a questioning expression.
Lin Canghai spread his arms. "It's his choice. You know I never force my kids to do anything."
Lin Xiaorou rolled her eyes and ignored him. She looked at Lin Yun and said, "Little Yun, you might not understand this, but in today's society, a prestigious background can sometimes play a significant role in your progress. Moreover, each university has its own alumni circle. Once you graduate, these connections can benefit you. You must think about it carefully."
Song Ming, a high-level police officer who had graduated from the Capital Police Academy, remained silent, but deep down he agreed with his wife. Sometimes, connections were more valuable than talent.
Lin Yun smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Second Aunt. I am fully aware of this point. However, I value my mental health more than anything."
"Mental health?" Lin Xiaorou was puzzled.
Lin Yun nodded and continued, "It's true that the Capital University alumni circle is the best in the country. There are many successful people among them. Compared to the West Lake Institute of Technology, the difference is immeasurable. Their environments are different as well. I just don't want to live in the highly competitive environment of Capital University."
"Moreover, my major is relatively new. It's a new field that not many people have entered yet. As far as I know, those people in the circle are either catering industry tycoons or real estate tycoons. The chance of us crossing paths is very slim, and I don't think I'll need their help."
"Good. It seems you've thought it through thoroughly, Little Yun," Song Ming said with a smile.
Lin Xiaorou nodded slowly. "I see. The environment at Capital University is indeed too competitive."
She herself was also an alumnus of Capital University and knew very well how competitive it was. Everyone competed for the top spot in every aspect.
"Besides," Lin Yun added, "there's a huge advantage to choosing WLIT. It's much easier for me to compete for research funding. After all, there are not many people."
"You're right." Lin Xiaorou sighed softly. "Please forgive my inconsideration."
"I understand, Second Aunt. You don't have to apologize. It's common to choose Capital University." Lin Yun didn't mind.
"What!? Are you sure?"
Wang Chulan's exclamation immediately attracted everyone's attention. She exchanged a few words with the person on the other end while writing something on a piece of paper.
When she hung up, she turned to look at everyone with an incredulous expression.
"What is it?" Lin Canghai urged.
"Our son… got a perfect score," Wang Chulan said in a trembling voice.
"What!?" Lin Canghai and the others exclaimed in unison.
Lin Xiaorou got up and snatched the paper from Wang Chulan's hand. She saw 750 points written on it and couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure you didn't hear it wrong?"
"Yes. You can check it, Sister," Wang Chulan nodded blankly.
Lin Xiaorou picked up the phone and Lin Yun's exam card. A moment later, she hung up and looked at everyone. "It's true. Little Yun got a perfect score… He's the first one in history."
