It was almost dark and the sun was starting to set. The clouds were looking dark and gray. There were no animals to be heard and all you could hear was the sound of leaves being crunched and the sound of footsteps.
"It looks like it's about to rain. Just don't mind that! You need to keep running" Abigail told herself while she was trying to find a place to hide in the forest.
Abigail climbed a tree to hide from the people that were after her. After her parents kicked her out and tried to get rid of her, she was on the run. After she turned 17 years old, her parents called the director of "Mad Laboratory" and made a deal for money. They were going to give Abigail away for money because her family was always short on money. Her parents barely took her school too because she spent most of her time at home being trained.
As Abigail grew up, she was always told that she was a mistake and a disappointment. Her parents were abusive towards her. Abigail was part dragon and part wolf. She had the horns and the wings of a dragon. She also had the ears, eyes, and the tail of a wolf. Her father was a dragon and her mother was a werewolf.
Abigail hid in a tree and saved her flying strength for later because she knew the scientist's would come looking for her soon and since it was dark outside, they wouldn't be able to see her in a tree. 15 minutes later, she started to hear people yelling "Find her!" "Look for
her!" "Set traps so we can catch her!" and that's when she knew, this is not going to be easy to get away.
"I need to stay on high alert for the traps and the scientists! They'll do anything for money." Abigail told herself quietly.
"Should we chop down every tree and bush to make sure she isn't hiding in them?" the first scientist asked the director.
"No! We will do that first thing in the morning tomorrow. It's getting too dark out here and we won't be able to see. It will just be a waste of time if we do that right now. You must think of how to play the game right!" The director explained to the scientist as he sounded annoyed.
"I need to get out of here! I have to find a village to hide in for now. Then I can wait until it's safe to move again." Abigail thought to herself.
"Alright everyone! We need to pack up and leave! It's 10:00 pm and it's getting late. We'll look for her tomorrow!" the director yelled out to everyone.
"Sir! We caught someone else though." another scientist suggested to the director.
"You caught a Tiger Dog! I'm impressed! He'll do great with my collection. It's almost like playing pokemon. When you're out to catch something and you find something else instead. What's his name?" The director asked happily.
"His name is Diagoe and he's 17 years old. I forced him to tell me or I would kill him." the scientist explained to the director.
"Excellent! Put him in the van. We'll take him to the lab. He'll be fun to play with." the director ordered while grinning devilishly.
Then everyone left the forest and Abigail was shocked by what she heard and saw. She wasn't the only one in the forest! What if they were running from the director too?!
"Why would he take a child that wasn't his to the lab. What does he do with them? Why is he okay with kidnapping children?" Abigail thought as she panicked in her mind!
From the corner of her eye, she saw movement in the tree's. Abigail decided to follow the stranger. When she passed a few trees, the person was gone! When Abigail went to climb down from the tree, someone had knocked her off the tree and onto the ground. She was pinned to the ground and couldn't move. The person above her started to growl.
"Don't move or I'll tear you to pieces! Who are you and why were you following me?" The stranger asked in a deep and mean growl.
"I thought you were a scientist that was left behind to keep an eye out in the woods! I was just seeing if it was right! I'm trying to get away from the director." Abigail explained to the stranger nicely.
Then the stranger let her and stepped back. She got up from the ground and dusted the grass off herself.
"Are you hiding from the director too?" Abigail asked in confusion.
"Yes! I've been running from the director. What's your name?" the stranger asked.
"My name is Abigail. I'm part wolf and part dragon. What's your name?" Abigail told the stranger.
"My name is Weston and I'm a wolf. I escaped the lab yesterday and ran away. How long have you been running from the director?" he told her seriously.
"My parents just called the director to sell me to the scientist's but I ran away before they could catch me." Abigail explained to him.
"So you're a freshly new wanted lab experiment." Weston said jokingly towards her.
"Ha Ha! Very funny! What age are you? I'm 17 years old." Abigail said seriously.
" So you're older than me. I'm only 16 years old. How about we head out of here before they decide to come back. The director usually has two scientist's come and patrol this place to find people to kidnap." Weston explained to her.
"What time do they usually come and patrol?" Abigail asked.
"2:00 am in the morning." Weston told her.
"What time is it now?" Abigail asked worriedly.
"It's 11:30 pm right now. We should leave right now!!!" Weston demanded her as he checked his phone.
"I agree! We need to find a village and blend in. Then we can wait until it's safe to move again. We'll have to find an empty place to stay too. After we find a place to stay, we can find things we'll need to survive. If they end up finding us, we'll run." Abigail explained her whole plan to Weston.
"You have already thought about this whole plan carefully. You're really smart." Weston told her in surprise.
"Well…It was going to be my plan eventually until I met you." Abigail said, chuckling a little bit.
"Alright. We should get moving right now. We're wasting time sitting here and talking. We can do your plan and if that doesn't work, I'll make a new plan." Weston said.
Weston and Abigail ran through the forest to find a way out of it. They never stopped for breaks and they were careful to watch out for the traps that the director set out. They were both determined to get away and be free and they pushed each other to keep going. Two hours later, they both saw a village up ahead!
"Weston! I see rooftops from up here!" Abigail said as she was flying.
"I smell food and people! Weston responded back in excitement.
"It's almost 2:00 am! Look at the stars!" Abigail said worriedly.
"It's only 1:30 am. We'll be fine as long as we make time to find an empty house and stay hidden." Weston said as he was careful and looked around them to make sure nobody was around.
"Do you see anyone?" Abigail asked in confusion.
"No! But we're getting close to the village though." Weston said in excitement.
Once they got to the village, they looked around the village. They eventually found an old and empty house that looks like it hasn't been touched in three months. Weston and Abigail looked around the house to see what they could find. Then they went to the second floor to see what they could find, but they barely found anything useful. They went to the third floor and hid in the attic. They had a lot of stuff that was useful to them on the first floor.
They found two beds, a camera, a few pieces of candy, some books, a computer, three notebooks, one backpack, pen's, pencil's, a lamp, 2 walkie talkies, a baseball bat, four cans of green beans, and one can of corn.
"Well… We scavenged for some good stuff. It might work for a few days until we run out of stuff." Abigail said while resting on her bed.
Yeah, it might. I'm going to hook up the camera to the computer and once I'm done with that, I'm going to put the camera on the roof where nobody will see it. Then We'll keep watching from the computer." Wetson explained his whole plan.
"That's a great idea. It will keep us from being caught or seen." Abigail said, agreeing to his idea.
While Weston was setting up the camera, Abigail was writing in one of the notebooks keeping it as her own diary. She was careful on what she was writing because if the scientist's got to her diary, they would know what's going on and they would also know all about her too. Once Weston was done setting the camera up, they both took a nap so they could run during the night if they had to.
Abigail woke up from her nap later on and checked to see what time it was on the computer. It was 8:35 pm. She looked at Weston and saw that he was still asleep. She walked to the window and looked up at the sky. The night was quiet and the moon was bright. The stars were pretty tonight and the street lights were on too. So if someone was outside, Weston and Abigail would know.
"I wish I wasn't having to go through this right now. Why did it have to be me? If my parents don't love me, then why did they have me?" Abigail told herself.
As she looked up at the beautiful starry sky, she saw a shooting star. Abigail made a wish on the shooting star. Though she knew that wish would probably not come true. After she made the wish, she went back to bed and cried herself to sleep silently.
Then morning came and it was 7:20 am and Abigail got up to check the house. She wanted to make sure someone didn't break in during
the night. After she checked the house, she went back to the attic and looked through the window and saw children playing together.
"I wish I knew what it was like to have friends." Abigail said to herself sadly.
Abigail had always wished to know what it was like to be happy. Her parents always kept her inside the house. Her parents told her every time that she was too dangerous to be around people. Her parents abused her physically and mentally.
"Is everything okay?" Weston asked Abigail in concern.
Abigail was spooked when he came up behind her. She turned around and threw a left hook, almost hitting Weston in the face. When Abigail realized it was him, she immediately apologized to him.
"I'm so sorry! You scared me and I didn't realize it was you!" Abigail apologized in panic.
"It's okay! I shouldn't have come up behind you like that. I was also wondering if you were hungry. I was about to go make breakfast." Weston told her calmingly.
"Yes. I am hungry. What are you cooking for breakfast?" Abigail asked him in wonder.
"I found a bag of hashbrowns in the freezer downstairs. I didn't know if you wanted hash browns." Weston suggested
"Yes. Of course. We have to use what we have in order to survive." Abigail responded to him.
While Weston went downstairs to make hashbrowns for breakfast, Abigail looked through the window to make sure nobody was coming to the house. While she was watching through the window, she couldn't help but wonder why her parents hated her so much. Abigail wondered what it was like to have loving parents. Was there
something that they weren't telling her? Was she an accident or a curse? Abigail wished that her parents would tell her why they treated her like this.
"Abigail! Breakfast is ready!" Weston announced from downstairs.
"I'm coming!" Abigail responded back.
Abigail shut the blinds on the window and walked downstairs to the kitchen. She could smell the hash brown from upstairs. But there was another smell! What was the smell that she was smelling? She looked at the table and saw something that looked like a round soft marshmallow but toasted. She had never seen anything like it before!
"You've been awfully quiet this morning. Are you okay?" Weston asked in concern.
"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be okay? Besides, what are these?" Abigail said pointing at the round fluffy thing.
"These are called pancakes. You've never eaten one before?" Weston looked at her in surprise as he ate his food.
"No! I've never heard of pancakes. I always had cereal or oatmeal for breakfast." Abigail explained to Weston.
"Were your parents picky about what you ate?" Weston asked her in wonder.
"Yes. They were judgmental about food. I couldn't eat what I wanted." Abigail told him sadly.
"You should go ahead and eat your breakfast before it gets cold. You'll love the pancake." Westone suggested as he happily ate his breakfast.
When Abigail was done eating her hash brown, she tried the pancake and was surprised to see how good it was. Abigail wolfed down her pancake and went back for seconds to get two more pancakes! She searched the pantry for the syrup bottle to eat with the pancakes.
Weston couldn't help but look at her and chuckle a little bit. Abigail found a syrup bottle and took her plate with two pancakes to the table. Weston got up to get seconds before Abigail ate all of them.
"Remember! We have to save food for later so we can eat." Weston reminded her.
"I know this but the pancakes are so~ good! I claim the pancakes!" Abigail said happily.
"We have to share the food. You said we have to use what we have in order to survive." Weston told her.
Abigail glared at him with her death look and then began to eat again. She hated when people got between her and food. Weston knew not to mess with a dragon. Dragons eat more than any other species in this world.
"So~ you've been really quiet upstairs lately. Is there anything going on?" Weston said in concern.
"I'm fine. I don't like to talk about my feelings. I'm just afraid that you would think differently of me if I told you about it." Abigail explained to him.
"If you want to talk about it, just tell me." Weston offered to her kindly.
"I already told you! I'm not going to talk about it." Abigail told him seriously.
"I have lived a broken life too. So I know how you feel." Weston said to her nicely.
"Who did he think he was?! Why was he trying to force her to talk? Does he really think talking about it is going to solve things?" Abigail thought to herself.
Abigail finally gave up because she knew if she refused, he would not leave her alone about it. She told him all about her backstory before she was kicked out of her home. Weston gave her some life tips to use and he also gave her some advice about her anger issues. Abigail eventually thanked him for listening to her problems. After they were done with breakfast, they cleaned up the kitchen and made it look like nobody had been there. They had to keep it that way in order to stay safe.
Abigail went back upstairs to the attic where it was nice and warm. Abigail dragged her bed to the spot of sunlight that was shining through the window. Then she laid down on her bed, got under her blanket, and fell right to sleep. Around noon, she was woken by Weston slightly shaking her.
"Hey. Do you want lunch?" Weston asked her kindly.
"What did you make? I smell something good but weird at the same time." Abigail asked in wonder.
"I don't know if you'll like what I cooked but I cooked salmon, green beans, and corn for lunch." Weston suggested.
"Salmon!!!" Abigail said in excitement as she ran downstairs for lunch.
"Don't eat all of it! I still have to eat too!" Weston said, chasing after her.
"You used the only can of corn? We could have saved that for another time." Abigail suggested kindly.
"Well…I thought that we could have a decent meal. We don't want to run on an empty stomach if we are found." Weston told her.
"That's understandable. Let's eat before the food gets cold." Abigail demanded seriously.
"I hope you like my cooking." Weston said with a chuckle.
Abigail grew up eating mostly meat and her favorite fish meat was salmon! Abigail was always craving fish meat when she was growing up. She would go fishing every day at the lake for fish. As Weston and Abigail ate lunch together, they both shared stories together about their childhood days and had a good time. Abigail felt a lot better getting it off her shoulders about her life. Abigail would always stress about her life.
After they were done eating lunch, they cleaned up the kitchen and put it back the way they found it. They went back upstairs to the attic so they could stay hidden if someone was close by. Then suddenly, a rock hit the window. Then another rock came through the open window with a rubber band wrapped around the rock. The rubber band was also holding a piece of paper around the rock. Weston and Abigail froze and looked at each other in fear and horror. Weston quickly shut the window and closed the curtains.
"Weston! Read the note!" Abigail demanded in fear.
"Dear strangers. We know you're running from the director too. We have been watching your every move. We wanted to warn you that they will be coming to the village soon. We are leaving to make a run for our lives. If you care to join us, we are four houses down from you and we are hiding in the attic. We can be a team and work together if you would like." Weston said, reading the note out loud for Abigail to hear.
"What do you think? I'm getting a bad vibe from that." Abigail asked Weston worriedly.
"I don't know but why are they just now saying something to us?" Weston wondered.
"I'm packing everything up just in case they are telling the truth. We need to play this safe!" Abigail said in panic.
"Let's pack everything up and go where they told us they were going to be." Weston said seriously to Abigail looking her in the eyes.
"What if it's a trap! Are you insane?! We don't know who we can trust!" Abigail said panic.
"We could see if they are just like us. If they're running from the director too, then we could help each other." Weston said seriously.
"We could also get ourselves killed if it's a trap! What are we going to do if it's a trap?!" Abigail said demandingly.
"It doesn't hurt to try to meet new people that we could learn to trust." Weston told her.
"Fine! But if you end up getting us in a trap, it's your fault." Abigail said rudely.
Weston and Abigail packed up their stuff and headed out. Once they had everything packed, they headed four houses down and knocked on the attic window. Then a tiger demon showed up at the window and opened it to let them in. Abigail was shocked to see different species other than her kind.
"Hello! My name is Troy. The guy over there on the left side of the room is Damone and the girl on the right side of the room is Meria. We're finishing up packing our stuff." Troy explained kindly to Weston and Abigail.
"I see you got our message." Meria said sweetly.
"This is a bigger attic than the one we were in." Weston told them sarcastically while trying not to make it awkward.
"So…You're a tiger demon and their regular demons?" Abigail asked Troy nicely.
"That's correct." Troy responded to her.
"What is the difference between a tiger demon and a regular demon?" Weston asked Troy seriously.
"A tiger demon has more powers than an actual demon. We can do more than they can do in certain situations." Troy explained to Weston.
"Can you tell me what your powers are?" Abigail asked curiously.
"I keep my powers a secret. I let people guess what I can do because if someone knows my powers, then they can figure out how to defeat me easily." Troy explained his logic.
"I never thought of it that way. That's a good idea." Abigail said shockingly.
"It's also a good tactic to use in a battle." Troy said.
"So are you two related or are yall friends?" Meria asked kindly.
"I met Weston in the woods when I was running from the director. The scientists caught a tiger dog as they were trying to look for me. After I turned 17, my parents were going to get rid of me." Abigail explained while trying not to cry.
"My parents died when I was 14 years old. The scientist's killed my parents. I've been living alone for three years." Weston explained to them.
"I thought you were with that tiger dog." Abigail said in confusion.
"I met him that night. I tried to tell him not to attack the director but it was too late." Weston explained sadly.
"Attacking the director is not easy." Damone told them seriously.
"How do you know?" Abigail asked in wonder and confusion.
"My brother died trying to kill him. The director came after my family because my father betrayed him. My father did not approve of what he was doing to people in the lab. So my father sued him and tried to have the police arrest him." Troy explained his story.
" I heard what happened. My father worked for the director too. Then he left the science laboratory." Weston told Troy.
"I finally now know! Your father was the man that was trying to help my father." Troy said shockingly.
"We finally figured it out!" Weston and Troy said together.
"How do you three know each other?" Abigail asked, wondering.
"Damone is my cousin and Troy is my next door neighbor," Meria explained.
"I was staying with Meria's parents until they came after my family. Every week, the director would choose a random home to bust into and take the family to use as experiments." Damone explained their sad story.
"It was hard losing my parents. I was the only child in my family." Meria said while trying not to cry.
Suddenly, there was a loud noise coming from the kitchen! There was someone in the house. The noise got louder and the stranger was getting closer.
"Everyone! Run!" Damone demanded the group.
They grabbed everything that they could and ran out of the attic window while trying not to be heard or seen. Whoever was making the noise was unknown.
