Chapter 12 - Lightning

"Crackling and popping"

Sterling's entire body unleashed an electric current, and all the zombies within a 100-meter radius of him were instantly electrocuted and exploded.

The third-order zombie was no exception; the electrical energy traveled through its intestines, spreading throughout its body in an instant. The fleshy mountain, still in the pose of raising its axe, burst apart, with its rotting flesh flying everywhere.

"That was close!"

After seven seconds, Sterling felt like he had narrowly escaped death.

He had come within a hair's breadth of being killed.

He propped himself up and saw that within a radius of about a hundred meters from him, there were no zombies left unscathed. Everywhere he looked, there was bruised blood and minced flesh.

A few stray zombies wandered beyond a hundred meters, but they were no longer a threat.

[Ding, congratulations on killing a third-order mutated zombie]

The system's prompt sound came, and immediately after, a purple light appeared out of thin air.

"Purple equipment dropped, this must be a boss!"

He picked up the purple card.

[Mutated Fire Axe] Equipment card.

"Great stuff, just when I was about to sleep, they brought a pillow. Although the killing process was difficult, the result is good after all."

He equipped and used the mutated fire axe.

A fire axe as tall as a person appeared in his hand out of thin air, but the next second.

"Clank"

Sterling felt as if it weighed as much as a mountain. With his current strength attribute of [Strength: 56+(+5)], he couldn't lift it.

"Activate Eye of Truth, appraise!"

[Mutated Fire Axe (Upgradable)]

[Attack Power +1000]

[Special Note: Emits a violent and brutal dark energy, craving for blood, with a bloodthirsty effect]

[Usage Instructions: A-level mutated weapon with dark matter energy requires a base of 100 strength points]

"Need 100 points of strength, that's easy."

He had accumulated quite a few free attribute points and had not yet picked up many attribute cards.

Without hesitation, he quickly cleaned up the battlefield, frantically increasing his strength attribute until it reached 100 points, and then added other attribute points.

Now Sterling's personal attributes are:

[Host: Sterling (Mythical Level Talent)]

[Combat Power 776+1000]

[Strength: 100 (+5)]

[Speed: 15 (+5)]

[Reaction: 10.1 (+5)]

[Mental Strength: 10.1 (+5)]

After adding the attribute points, he felt refreshed, and picking up the axe again was effortless.

"Cool! An increase of 1000 points in combat power, almost invincible!"

Sterling swung the axe vigorously, cutting down the last few zombies directly, and killing zombies became even more effortless.

"It's about time to retreat!"

...

On the other hand, the students were not as fortunate as Sterling.

Originally, there were more than a hundred people, but now only more than 40 people remained. The timid and injured were basically all dead, and those who were still alive had run out of bullets. Many girls were crying while running.

It was a miracle that Abigail was still alive, supporting a lame female student, and she was still steadily at the end of the team.

As they got closer to the school gate, they could already see the soldiers on the vehicle, firing their guns and killing in all directions.

"Help! Come and save us!"

The rich second-generation student who was running in the front shouted.

As a result, the zombies gathered near the school gate, because they couldn't get out, turned their heads and pounced at them with bared teeth and claws.

The rich second-generation student was caught off guard and shouted for help even more frantically.

Just when the students were trapped on both sides, a group of people jumped out from the rescue convoy.

"Boom, boom, boom"

Heavily armored, fully armed, soldiers wearing mechanical exoskeleton combat armor, holding automatic rifles, and trained to carry out rescue operations.

"Dada, dada..."

The zombies were killed by bullets, and the rich second-generation students were saved.

One person was responsible for negotiation, while the others maintained a tactical posture on alert.

"Have you been bitten?"

"No, I'm completely unscratched!"

The rich second-generation student hurriedly proved that he was a normal person.

"Go to the car and hide!"

The rescue team continued to move deeper, soon meeting scattered students along the way.

"Are you okay? Have you been bitten?"

The soldiers asked the same question upon picking up each person.

"No, none of us have been bitten!"

After being rescued, some female students sat directly on the ground, crying their hearts out, their tears were heart-wrenching.

It wasn't until the rescue team reached Abigail and David that one person negotiated while the others fired at the zombies.

"Are there any more people behind you?"

"Yes, there's Sterling!"

David was resolute, and Abigail's gaze was expectant. Although she didn't like the ruthless Sterling, she still hoped that Sterling would come back alive.

"How did she get hurt? Was it from a zombie bite?" the soldier demanded.

"No, I fell. It wasn't a bite!"

The female student defended herself in a panic.

"That's good, hurry to the main gate and get on the bus!"

Just as the soldiers were about to retreat, David immediately shouted:

"There's one more person! Sterling hasn't come back yet!"

The troublemaking rich second-generation student came back to life, clamoring:

"Who cares if he comes back or not, he's probably already zombie poop. Let's not worry about this murderer and hurry up and leave!"

At this moment, the leader of the alert team shouted loudly.

"All units on alert, a high-level zombie is approaching!"

Upon hearing this, the rich second-generation student was so frightened that he turned around and ran towards the rescue bus at the entrance, stumbling as he went.

Seeing the rescue soldiers so tense, the other students also instinctively showed panic.

"High-level? Zombies are ranked too?"

David, on the other hand, was curious, looking up and waiting eagerly.

The rescue soldiers formed a human wall, aiming and firing at the zombies collectively.

Behind these ordinary zombies, there was a blood-soaked zombie holding a fire axe, approaching quickly.

According to the information, a zombie that could use weapons and was extremely fast sounded very much like a rare mutated high-level zombie, with all the characteristics matching.

The reason they hadn't shot it was, first, the distance was too far, and second, this high-level zombie was actually slaughtering its own kind!

This didn't match the information provided.

"Captain! Are you sure it's a zombie? I thought zombies didn't kill their own kind?"

While firing, a team member questioned.

"I don't know the reason, all units on alert, as soon as it's in range, kill without mercy!"

Sterling swung the axe, racing forward, and any zombies in his way were split in half by his axe.

"Rip"

After a regular zombie was cut in half, he saw a line of well-trained, fully armed soldiers, even some in high-tech combat exoskeletons, firing at zombies about a hundred to two hundred meters ahead.

"These are the soldiers of our country, so cool!"

Sterling excitedly approached, just a few steps away from being in range.

Just as all the soldiers were about to shoot.

David suddenly shouted.

"It's Sterling, Sterling is back, Sterling!"

David was so excited that he was about to greet him, but as soon as he rushed out, he was held back by a soldier.

"You're risking your life!"

David pointed at Sterling in a panic.

"He's my Sterling! He's a person, not a zombie!"
