Chapter 7 - REVELATION

I stood in the hallway outside King Xavier's study, my mind racing . The Lycan King. I had begged help from the Lycan King himself, and now I was his personal maid. The irony wasn't lost on me - from Luna to servant in just a few days.

As I made my way back to the servants' quarters, I couldn't help but wonder what this meant for me. Accompanying the Lycan King to his welcoming party? I'd be in the presence of Alphas and Lunas from all over. What if someone recognized me?

Back in my tiny room, I sat on the bed, my head in my hands. How had my life changed so drastically? Just a week ago, I was pregnant, married to an Alpha, living a life of luxury. Now, I had lost my baby, my mate, my pack, and my status.

A knock on the door startled me from my thoughts. An older maid entered, carrying a pile of uniforms.

"Here you are, dear," she said kindly. "You'll need to try these on. As the King's personal maid, you'll need to look immaculate."

I nodded numbly, taking the uniforms. As she turned to leave, a thought struck me.

"Wait," I called out. "What... what exactly does being the King's personal maid entail?"

The older woman smiled sympathetically. "It's a great honor, but also a great responsibility. You'll attend to all of the King's personal needs, accompany him to events, and essentially be at his beck and call day and night."

My heart sank. This was going to be harder than I thought.

"The welcoming party is in three days," she continued. "You'll need to be ready. It's a big event - all the major pack leaders will be there."

With that, she left, closing the door behind her. I stared at the pile of uniforms, reality setting in. In three days, I would face the werewolf community not as a Luna, but as a maid. And not just any maid - the personal maid of the Lycan King himself.

As I kept thinking of the situation I found myself, I realize that going to the welcoming party only means that Alfred and the pack members will see me and realize that I am no a mere maid to the Lycan king. I shakes my head, trying to console myself. It's better to be a maid than be known as the barren Luna who her sister snatched her mate from. After a while, I dozed off with tears rolling down my chin.

The following morning I woke up and got dressed preparing for the day ahead. The head maid gave me a draft of my duties as the kings personal maid. After going through it, I went straight to the Kings Room to clean up and then go ahead to bring his food. After he was done eating, I took the dishes to the kitchen and came back to clean up. While I was cleaning, King Xavier spoke to me for the first time since today. " Where do you stay and while were you asking a stranger to accommodate you?" I bowed my head In respect thinking of how to answer him. Should I tell him I am a Luna who ran away from her pack? Or should I just lie to him?

I stood there in thoughts not knowing how to respond to him. Finally I found my voice.

" My king, I….i ran away from my pack ." I told him bending my head down. "Raise your head up and answer my question." He said calmly.

" Why did you run away from your pack?"

I paused immediately he dropped the question. I wasn't sure I was ready to talk about it, how shameful would it be for a Luna to run away from her pack.

My king, I …. I, I tried to talk but instead I burst out crying. King Xavier didn't say a word , all he did was sit quietly waiting for me to continue. Finally I found my voice to told him the truth.

"I am a Luna from Moonlight pack," I said, my voice trembling. "I ran away because... because my husband betrayed me with my step-sister. She got pregnant, and intentionally killed my baby. They turned the whole pack against me, even accusing me of attacking her when it was the other way around."

I couldn't look at King Xavier as I spoke, my eyes fixed on the floor. The room was silent for a long moment, and I feared his reaction.

Finally, he spoke, his voice surprisingly gentle. "Look at me, Lucy."

Startled by the use of my name, I raised my eyes to meet his. His expression was unreadable, but there was a glimmer of something in his eyes.

"That's quite a story," he said. "And a difficult situation. But why didn't you seek help from another pack? Why come to a strange town and beg a stranger for help?"

I swallowed hard. "I... I was afraid. Afraid that no other pack would take me in, that they'd send me back. I just wanted to disappear, to start over where no one knew me."

King Xavier nodded slowly. "I see. And now you find yourself as a maid to the Lycan King, about to face the very people you were running from at the welcoming party."

I felt tears welling up in my eyes again. "Yes, my King. I... I don't know what to do."

He stood up and walked towards me. I instinctively took a step back, but he held up a hand to stop me.

"Lucy, listen carefully," he said, his voice firm but not unkind. "You will attend the welcoming party as my personal maid, as planned. But you will not reveal your true identity to anyone. Do you understand?"

I nodded, relief washing over me. "Yes, my King. Thank you."

"Don't thank me yet," he warned. "This won't be easy. You'll have to face your past, but from a very different position. Can you handle that?"

I took a deep breath, straightening my shoulders. "I can, my King. I have to."

King Xavier studied me for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. Now, get back to your duties. We have a lot to prepare for."

With those words, I left his room, my heart pounding. I had told the Lycan King my secret, and he hadn't turned me away. Instead, he had offered protection. For the first time since I'd run away, I felt hopeful . Maybe, just maybe, I could survive this after all.

I went back to the maids quarters and met some maids gossiping but I didn't pay much attention to them as I was thinking of what just happened. I got distracted from my thoughts when I heard one of the maids mention King Xaviers Mate.

"Can you imagine that after King Xavier sent that wicked lady, she still came back here? One of the maid grumbled. Despite cheating on him, she still has the audacity to come here." As they were talking the woman that came earlier to meet me walked in, making the rest of them stop talking.

"Madam Zina requests your presence." The woman said facing me. I looked at her confused.

Ohh sorry for not informing you properly. I mean the King's ex-mate requested your presence.
