Chapter 12 - THE TRAP

Lucy's Point of View

I rushed back to my room after my talk with Alfred in the garden. My heart was racing. I couldn't believe he had snuck onto the palace grounds to talk to me!

As I closed my bedroom door, I let out a big sigh. What Alfred said about Xavier kept running through my mind. He said Xavier was dangerous and had some kind of history with him. But how could that be true? Xavier had been nothing but kind to me and though he did not explain exactly what happened but he also mentioned having an history with Alfred.

I sat on my bed, feeling confused. Should I tell Xavier about Alfred sneaking in? Or should I keep it a secret? I didn't know what to do.

Just then, there was a knock at my door. "Come in," I called out.

It was one of the maid and that was officially assigned to me by King Xavier. She came to serve me my food. While she was dishing the food, I zoned out and she tapped me asking me if I was ok.

" Yes, I am fine " I replied her.

THE NEXT MORNING

I woke up with a note right beside my bed stand. It was boldly state " YOU ARE IN DANGER, KING XAVIER IS DANGEROUS AND USING YOU FOR REVENGE. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ALFRED AND XAVIER HISTORY, SEE ME AT NOON CLOSE TO THE BORDER."

I felt chills turn down my spine after going through the letter. Who the hell sent these note and who dropped it on my table. I quickly called the maid that came to serve me last night. She was the last person that entered my room.

Did you see anybody come in here last night after you left? I asked the maid. But she did not give a positive answer.

The maid looked confused. "No, my lady. I didn't see anyone enter your room after I left last night. Is something wrong?"

I shook my head, trying to appear calm. "No, nothing's wrong. Thank you."

After she left, I stared at the note again. My hands were shaking. Who could have left this? And should I go to the meeting place?

I spent the morning pacing in my room, torn about what to do. Part of me was curious to learn more about Xavier and Alfred's history. But another part was scared it might be a trap.

As noon approached, I made up my mind. I had to know the truth. I snuck out of the palace, careful not to be seen. My heart was pounding as I made my way to the border.

When I got there, I didn't see anyone at first. Then I heard a voice behind me.

"I'm glad you came."

I spun around and gasped. Standing there was Zina, Xavier's ex-mate.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, taking a step back. "Did you leave that note?"

Zina nodded. "I did. So why did you call me here then? What is it about Xavier and Alfred you want to tell me? I asked her calmly. But instead of the response I needed to hear, she burst out laughing.

" So you think I actually have something to say to you . Don't make me laugh at your stupidity." Anyways I brought you here so I can return you back to where you're coming from. The Lycan's mate doesn't belong to you. I deserved to be announced as his finance because I am his true mate.

I looked at Zina in an awe still wondering what the hall was going on. But that only changed when I saw three hefty men coming out from nowhere. They looked so scary that I wanted to scream. And from nowhere, Alfred came out too.

I told you I was going to come back for you didn't I ?

I froze in shock as Alfred appeared. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest. How could I have been so stupid to fall for this trap?

"Alfred, what are you doing?" I managed to choke out. "You can't just take me!"

Alfred's face was cold, nothing like the man I once loved. "I'm sorry Lucy, but I have no choice. You need to come back with me."

I looked around desperately for a way to escape, but Zina and the three large men were blocking any path I might take. Fear gripped me as I realized how helpless I was.

"Please, don't do this," I begged, my voice shaking. "Xavier will come looking for me. You can't get away with this."

Alfred took a step closer, his eyes intense. "Xavier isn't who you think he is, Lucy. There's so much you don't know."

As he reached for my arm, I jerked back. "Don't touch me!" I shouted, surprising even myself with the anger in my voice. "Whatever history you have with Xavier, it doesn't justify this!"

Suddenly, we heard shouts in the distance. My heart leapt - maybe someone had noticed I was missing! Alfred cursed under his breath.

"We need to go. Now." He nodded to the men, who started moving towards me.

I knew I had to act fast. Taking a deep breath, I screamed as loud as I could, "Help! Somebody help me!"

One of the men lunged forward to grab me. I ducked and tried to run, but Zina caught my arm, her nails digging into my skin.

"You little fool," she hissed. "You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into."

As they started dragging me away, I fought with everything I had, kicking and screaming. But deep down, I was terrified. What if no one came? What would happen to me?

While I was struggling to get off their grip, one of them hit me on my neck and I instantly passed out.

I woke up my hands and legs tied in a dark room. Help!! Someone should please help me I yelled louder. After about twenty minutes of yelling and screaming and no one responding to me I finally heard the door click open and the devil himself walked in.

I heard you screaming for help my love?" Alfred smiled wickedly moving closer to me.

You bastard, what else do you want from me? Haven't you caused me enough pain? You cheated on me with my sister and even got her pregnant. What else do you want me for? I screamed tears pouring down my chin.

" All I want is for you to stay with me, and I wouldn't have resulted to this if you'd just obeyed me when I asked nicely "

While Alfred was talking to me his mom walked in smiling sheepish. Finally she's here.

I couldn't read her expression, and it made me very nervous . I was wondering what she was thinking.

Alfred turned to his mom, and gave her a nod.

I stared at Alfred's mom in shock as she walked in with that smug smile on her face. My heart was racing and I felt sick to my stomach.

"What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice shaking. "Why are you doing this?"

Alfred's mom came closer, looking down at me like I was nothing. "Oh Lucy, you poor thing. Did you really think you could just run away and become the Lycan King's fiancée? That's not how this works."

I glared at her, feeling anger build up inside me. "I didn't run away to be with Xavier. I ran because you all treated me horribly! You have no right to keep me here."

She laughed, but it wasn't a nice laugh. It was cold and mean. "We have every right. You're still Alfred's mate, whether you like it or not. And we can't have you spilling our secrets to Xavier."

I was confused. "What secrets? I don't know anything!"

Alfred stepped forward, his face serious. "That's the problem, Lucy. You don't know what you've gotten yourself into. Xavier is dangerous, and he's using you to get back at me."

I shook my head, not believing him. "No, you're the dangerous ones. You kidnapped me! Xavier has only been kind to me."

Alfred's mom snorted. "Kind? Oh honey, you have no idea. But don't worry, you'll learn soon enough. For now, you're staying right here until we figure out what to do with you."

As they turned to leave, I called out, "Xavier will come for me. He'll find me!"

They just laughed as they walked out, locking the door behind them. I was left alone in the dark room, scared and angry. I had to find a way out of here. I had to get back to Xavier and warn him about what Alfred and his mom were up to. But how?

I tugged at the ropes around my wrists, trying to loosen them. They were tight, but I wasn't going to give up. I had to escape, no matter what it took.

As I was struggling to get the ropes off me I heard

Alfreds voice like it was coming from a speaker. " Don't bother yourself, you cannot get out from there and you're being monitored."

" You bastard, how there you put cameras on me?" You just wait let Xavier finds out you abducted me.

Alfred's voice crackled through the speaker again, sounding smug. "Oh Lucy, you still don't get it, do you? Xavier isn't coming for you. He probably doesn't even know you're gone yet."

I felt a chill run down my spine at his words, but I refused to show fear. "You're wrong," I said firmly. "Xavier cares about me. He'll notice I'm missing and he'll come looking."

"Keep telling yourself that," Alfred replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But while you wait for your 'knight in shining armor', why don't we have a little chat about the past?"

I frowned, confused by his words. "What are you talking about?"

"Oh, just the history between me and Xavier," Alfred said casually. "The things you don't know about your precious Lycan King."

My heart started racing. Was this what Alfred had been trying to tell me before? Part of me didn't want to listen, didn't want to believe anything he said. But another part was desperate for answers.

"Fine," I said, trying to sound brave. "Tell me then. What's this big secret history between you and Xavier?"

There was a pause, and for a moment I tho

ught Alfred had left. But then his voice came through again, low and serious.

"It all started years ago, before either of us became Alphas..."
