Alfred's Point of View
I stormed out of King Xavier's quarters, my blood boiling with rage and frustration. How dare he? How dare Lucy? The events of the evening played over and over in my mind as I made my way through the palace corridors.
When I first saw Lucy standing next to Xavier, looking radiant in that gown, I couldn't believe my eyes. My Luna, the woman I had cast aside, was now being introduced as the Lycan King's fiancée. The shock and anger I felt in that moment were indescribable.
And then our confrontation in the hallway... Lucy's newfound confidence infuriated me. She was supposed to be broken, desperate. Instead, she stood there, looking very strong. It wasn't supposed to be this way.
But what truly shook me to my core was my conversation with Xavier. The way he spoke, the things he knew... it was as if he had been watching us all along or maybe Lucy had told him everything that happened.
I got back to the main hall and met Aris there, she looked curious and wanted to ask what happened but I didn't give her the chance to. We both went back to our pack in silence.
On getting back to the palace, Ari's immediate blocked me. " What the hell is going on? Why won't you speak or say a word to me?"
I took a deep breath before responding to her. Lucy is getting married to the Lycan king, that's the problem here." I yelled.
" And so what? Isn't this a good news? We can finally be together."
I stared at Aris, dumbfounded by her response. "A good news? Are you serious right now?"
Aris shrugged, her hand resting on her swollen belly. "Why not? Lucy's out of our hair, we can be together without any guilt or complications. Isn't that what we wanted?"
I felt a surge of anger and frustration. "No, Aris. That's not what I wanted. Lucy was my Luna, my mate. She wasn't supposed to end up with someone else, especially not the Lycan King!"
Aris's eyes narrowed. "Oh, I see. So what about me and our baby? What then will happen to us? Is that it, Alfred?"
I ran my hands through my hair, In frustration . "You don't understand. There's something more going on here. Xavier... he knows things. Things he shouldn't know. And he is trying to get back at me, he is trying to use Lucy against me.
Aris's eyes narrowed, her voice rising. "What are you talking about, Alfred? What things? What aren't you telling me?"
I paced the room, feeling trapped. "It's complicated, Aris. Xavier and I... we have a history. But that's not important right now. What matters is that he's using Lucy to hurt me, to get revenge."
Aris stepped in front of me, her face contorting with anger. You see it as revenge because you're still thinking about the Useless girl.
"I can't believe what I'm hearing. Are you actually worried about Lucy? After everything we've been through?"
I stared at her, taken aback by her reaction. "Aris, it's not like that. I'm just trying to-"
"To what, Alfred?" she cut me off, her voice sharp. "To get her back? Is that it? Am I not enough for you?"
I stood still not knowing what else to do. "No, Aris, that's not what I meant. I'm just concerned about what Xavier might do."
"Concerned?" Aris scoffed. "You sound more than concerned. You sound jealous."
I tried to reach out to her, but she stepped back. "Aris, please. You have to understand-"
"No, you need to understand," she snapped. "I'm carrying your child, Alfred. We're supposed to be starting a life together. And here you are, all worked up over your ex-Luna. I won't stand for it!"
As I looked at Aris, her face was a mix of hurt and anger. Despite Aris carrying my child, I never actually loved her, I was only using her to pass time and have fun but now that she's pregnant and my mom approves of her, I had no choice but to accept the child. If only I knew that Lucy will also get pregnant at almost the same time as Aris.
I made a guilty face and hugged Aris pretending to be as sad as she was. I asked her to go and rest and that she needed it. After she left, I immediately went to look for my mom.
Mom, we are in a big mess , Mom looked up from her desk, concern etching her face. "What's wrong, Alfred? What mess are you talking about?"
I paced the room, trying to find the right words. "It's Lucy. She's... she's with Xavier now. The Lycan King introduced her as his fiancée at the party."
Mom's eyes widened in shock. "What? How is that possible?"
"I don't know," I said, running my hands through my hair. "But that's not even the worst part. Xavier... he knows things, Mom. Things about our past. I think he's using Lucy to get back at me."
Mom stood up, her face grave. "Alfred, what exactly did Xavier say?"
I recounted my conversation with Xavier, watching as Mom's expression grew more worried with each word. When I finished, she sank back into her chair, looking older than I'd ever seen her.
"This is bad, Alfred," she said softly. "If Xavier knows about... about what happened back then, we could lose everything."
I nodded, feeling the weight of our secrets pressing down on me. "I know. But what can we do? He's the Lycan King now. We can't exactly fight him."
Mom was quiet for a moment, deep in thought. Then she looked up at me, determination in her eyes. "We need to get Lucy back."
I stared at her, confused. "What? But Aris-"
"Aris is not important right now," Mom cut me off. If Xavier is truly using Lucy against us, then we are in a big trouble ... we can't risk that. We need to bring her back, by any means necessary."
"Okay," I said finally. "But how do we do it? Lucy seemed pretty set on staying with Xavier."
Mom's eyes glinted with a cunning I'd seen many times before. "Leave that to me. I'll come up with a plan. In the meantime, you need to keep an eye on Aris. We can't afford any more complications."
