Prince Angelus fanned himself in the cell. He coldly stared up at the ceiling, picturing a scene where he was in his room making a painting of the kingdom he hoped to rule with the blood of his enemies.
"It seems the beast has angered the king with his presence. That explains why the king forbade anyone from celebrating his birthday!"
"I can't believe our beautiful queen birthed a monster. One which the royal family can't parade out in public!"
"The king is handsome, and the queen is a rare beauty; why is the crown prince a troll?"
"I hope the beast won't be allowed to ascend the throne and be our king."
"The crown prince should be deposed at the earliest! "
"The king should crown Prince Ambrose or Augustus as next in line for the crown! "
"The beast should be slaughtered and sent to the heavens to bring peace to Sevigoria! "
"Prince Angelus is a bad omen, he should be sent into exile! "
"Such a foul beast shouldn't be allowed to live. He will be Sevigoria's undoing! "
The curses of the subjects of the city echoed in his head. Their words sounded louder and louder, pounding at his head. It made it easier to imagine their suffering after he attacked the city.
He swung the fan back and forth, and a cool breeze hit his face, bringing joy to his heart. He had endured enough hatred from ignorant people who didn't know him, including his father.
Prince Angelus brushed his hand over the hairpin Cassiel gifted him. Fireworks went off in the pit of his stomach. Cassiel wasn't anything he imagined for his life, the man was better than everything he hoped for.
His shapeshifter made being imprisoned feel romantic. Prince Angelus's eyes lingered on the spot where they shared a dance. A smile bloomed on his lips, his eyes lit up, giving a new light to his face.
Cassiel promised to send down an army to save him from his darkness and keep true to his word. He gave him a fleet of twenty thousand men that he commanded to his cause. An army that maim his enemies and brings them to their knees.
Prince Angelus couldn't think of a better gift anyone could accord him. The king gifted him a bitter royal decree, Princess Elveryn gifted him her sister and Gael's wedding, and his subjects hurled insults at him. All of him he intended to break and reduce to dust.
The sound of drums beating in the distance echoed within the walls of the prison. Prince Angelus swayed to the beat of the drums. The drums alerted the people in the castle of the danger to the crown and urged them to stand guard more than ever.
Angelus removed the pins holding his hair in place and let his shoulder-length hair bounce freely on his shoulders. He jubilated with the walls of his cell, celebrating the fear and panic spreading to the hearts of his enemies.
The first step to his revenge. The king of Sevigoria underestimated him and how far he was willing to go to have the crown of Sevigoria sit on his head.
Captain Davon walked into the cells with Prince Angelus's food. He was worried amidst the chaos; the guards might forget to feed the prince.
Davon's feet froze on the spot as he witnessed the prince dancing happily in his cell. Captain Davon narrowed his eyes at the prince, his mind replaying the chaos ensuing the city, he couldn't help but think that the little wild prince was responsible for it.
"What makes the Grand prince so happy this morning?" He inched closer to the prince's cell.
Angelus paused in his dance and stared at his favorite head of security. He was overflowing with joy that he pushed Davon's mistakes to the back of his head and walked up to the metal bars separating him and Davon.
"Why wouldn't I be happy, Davon? The city is on fire, and I can't help but be bewitched by the flames," he let out an evil laugh.
"How do you know that theirs chaos in the city?" Captain Davon asked, as far as he knew, the prince hadn't had any visitors since his arrest. No guards had come to see him, and hence, it made no sense how the prince was aware of the disorder in the city.
"You have no idea what the people of this kingdom think of me. They call me a beast, a monster, a troll, and a bad omen. They wish for me to be killed, deposed of, exiled, and slaughtered," Prince Angelus leaned on the metal bars. "The king ordered everyone not to celebrate my birthday, he got the mab I love married to my sister on my birthday, he sneakily tried to replace me with Augustus and on top of that got me arrested," he added softly.
A moment of silence, which felt like an eternity, went by before he continued. "The chaos in the city is the least they can do to pay up for all that I've had to endure," he said, Prince Angelus turned around and locked eyes with Davon. "They've hurt me a lot and now they'll bleed."
Captain Davon's jaw dropped. He knew the prince to have a bad temper and terrible impulses but he didn't think him capable of massively attacking the city overnight.
To date, Angelus's temper resulted in horrible childish pranks, but now this attack had gotten lethal.
"They drew blood, and it hurt, and now it's my turn, and I'll drain them of every ounce of blood in their veins until I'm heard," Prince Angelus expressed from the bottom of his heart.
Dark intentions played in his beautiful hazel eyes. He was a prince of the first order, cruelty and savagery ran in his royal blood. It was his first impulse, and he was determined to show Sevigoria how beastly he could be.
"Look at what you've done. Because of you, the entire kingdom shall suffer!" Davon exclaimed.
"No, not the entire kingdom..." Prince Angelus said, "Just those who condemn me and those who refuse to listen to me."
"As I said, the entire kingdom!"
Prince Angelus sneered deviously. He continued his dance and happily waltzed around the room. They thought him a monster, a beast, a troll, and a bad omen, and he made a vow to live up to all of their expectations.
