Chapter #1
Your positioning and timing is off, start again." An almost seventy years old man grunted to the kid.
He had a white haired beard with a croaked but silent voice his face was always so serious and focused.
He imbued intensive training to the little boy in order to make him the perfect shadow. His intuition always led him to believe that the youngster before him was kinda of special compared to the others.
The hard work he put in to learn and his ability to adapt so fast was something that caught his eye. The boy had great talent in many things and his ingenious way to approach matters in hand was very remarkable indeed.
"Yes sensei." I replied with my head facing down.
Ever since my arrival to this world I have only known the art of depending and fighting for my self.
I was an orphan but still it didn't bother me. Compared to my previous life this was nothing.
I can keenly trace back how I finally got my end.
I was caught between an onslaught during a gang raid as a stray bullet found it way to my rib cage and dug itself to the right side of my heart.
I finally succumbed to death as I so thought but when I opened my eyes I found myself in the body of a young baby at a trash bin.
I was found by the sisters and raised as an orphan and when at the age of nine I ran away to the street why I fed for myself.
After three years I was taken I my the league of assassins to work as one of their minions.
I had a vast knowledge of this world. I never hoped that my obsession with comics would be my blade to survival.
Sensei was the one who found me and taught everything I don't know. He taught me to commit my self to the cause and so I become one of the demon head's elite force.
Sensei was teaching me on knife throwing and catching. The training seemed to be somewhat dangerous but still if it was to better myself then the risk was worth it.
My knife training course was over and the only final difficulty left was to beat my master in a combat.
I was like what a fuck! How the hell could I even compare to the man who had a life time experience and to top it up he was my trainer. Everything I know I was taught by him.
This was gonna be the most difficult challenge that I will ever face.
It was during a dark night and you could feel the gentle breeze away washing away all my fatigue as it refreshed me to keep standing and pushing.
Sensei had handed my ass to me with a thorough beating. He wasn't holding back anything.
" Are you not ashamed old man? Beating your student like a punching bag." I couldn't help but think of how he didn't try and go easy on me.
After all I had been his disciple for a period of two years but I guess what did I expect. To him am a tool to be used for obeying orders and performing them. There is no need for a tool if it can't show its worth.
I felt a surge of anger rise up in me but I controlled myself. Controlling a one's emotions is a key factor to winning a battle.
I had to come up with a way to best him somehow. Melee combat was out if the option but still if I can land one blow on him that would be enough for me.
I unsheathed my twin blade and threw one on him but he managed to catch it between his fingers. Then I charged towards him with with the other blade on my mind. It was a foolish idea, as it appeared as it I had leaded him my weapon. Sensei couldn't help but become bothered by what I was thinking.
I was pouring every skill in my book to outwit him. The blades collided and the clinging sound of the crash echoed through the night.
I switched the dagger from my left hand to the right as I attacked him senselessly without giving him much of a chance for him to return the favor.
My eyes sharpened into slits leaking a vast amount of bloodlust. The shockwaves of the crushing blade made them start to crack and before I knew my blade completely shattered to pieces but Sensei's blade was still intact.
"Such an amateurish display." Sensei scoffed with disappointment
Then I felt a piercing pain from my left arm which spread to my whole body.
I was vulnerable to his attacks and was on the elusive side. He performed an upward slash but I managed to evade it but then I was left open to his next attack. From his position there was an hopeless chance for me to evade it.
He lifted his hand with the blade clenched on his fist as he went for the killing blow. He had increased his attack speed and was about to perform a downward cut as the sharp edge of the blade glittered to cleave on it's prey.
I remembered that he taught me that sometimes if your opponent is much stronger than you, you surrender or runaway.
It is not cowardly to try and save your own life. But from this position there was no way I could survive.
He could absolutely kill me in an instant if the blade landed on me.
But amidst the chaos, much to his shock I was smiling.
"You fell for it." I smirked.
My smirk gave him a moment of hesitation. I kicked the blade of his hands by targeting his fingers to let go of it.
The blade then flew I the air as I caught it and pointed the tip of it at close range near his neck.
I had baited him and my plan worked accordingly but still this old man was something else entirely. His right foot was inches from my stomach with a small dagger necked out at the edge of the shoe.
"It's good that I had no intent of killing him because I would also be lying down at a pool of my own blood."
The duel was a draw and I was finally ready to be sent on my first mission.
Not many who make out alive during a fight with sensei.
I collapsed after the duel ended as I lost consciousness. I had been on the receiving end and incurred alit more damage.
"Well am surprised you were able to keep up this long." Sensei remarked as he gazed down to the body of student. He was astonished by his endurance.
