Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Evil be gone

Hyrus POV:

I saw a bright flash of light out of the window, just as the shadow turned to look at me, the light was so blinding I could only see its immense power and nothing else through my vision.

The windows smashed inwards, the sharp glass slashing the skin on my arms as I had them up against my face.

I screamed, the power throwing me father into the room, my back painfully slamming against the wall.

When the light dimmed, just enough to be able to see, the shadow had been affected just as much as I had, it had been thrown onto the floor, I could see it getting onto its feet on unsure legs.

This was my moment. I forced myself through the aching pain coasting through my body, forcing myself to run.

I heard the shadow give a scratching scream, heard it getting onto its feet as I sprinted down the stairs, I didn't care if anyone saw me as I ran out of the house.

There I saw Cal, above everyone, floating in the sky with wings as large as houses, emitting an ethereal bright blue and white glow, even from back here I could see his eyes were white and brimming with magic.

Cal POV:

The magic was almost painful as it took over me, feeling like I would almost burst with the magic.

I raked my head, even with this new power I didn't know if I could stop the dozens, maybe even hundreds of shadows still tearing through the city.

I raced through my memories. That's it! I remembered one particular passage from the spell book my father had given me back when I was still just a pup.

The book went:

Though evil runs so prevalent

The magic may be so relevant

Using the power of the moon and stars

Evil should be banished to land so far

Never to be seen again

As I recited the words, I felt the spell take control, a blue spark of magic appeared, becoming larger and looked like bolts of static energy, they careened downwards into the city.

Shadows screamed as the magic slashed through them, ripping them into pieces, killing them with a shocking effectiveness, the shadows all dropped dead, disintegrating into dust.
