Kaelyn Jenkins stood outside Reed Global's sleek glass doors, her heart racing. She had dreamed of working here. With a deep breath, she stepped inside.
The receptionist's smile welcomed her. "Kaelyn Jenkins, Mr. Reed's assistant?"
"Yes."
"Right this way."
Kaelyn followed her to the 20th floor, Asher Reed's office. The receptionist knocked, then opened the door.
"Kaelyn, thanks for coming," Asher said, rising from his chair. His piercing blue eyes and charming smile made her pulse quicken.
"Thank you, Mr. Reed," Kaelyn replied, extending her hand.
"Call me Asher." He gestured to a seat. "I must say, your résumé impressed me."
Kaelyn sat, poised. "Thank you."
The conversation flowed effortlessly. Asher outlined her responsibilities, salary, and benefits. Kaelyn listened intently.
"As my personal assistant, discretion is crucial," Asher emphasized. "My family life...can be complicated."
Kaelyn nodded. "I understand."
Asher smiled. "Welcome to Reed Global, Kaelyn."
Their hands met again, sealing her fate.
