Kaelyn's heart raced as darkness enveloped her. Asher's voice cut through the shadows.
"Vivian, enough!" Asher warned, rising from the couch.
Vivian's laughter echoed, icy and mirthless.
"You're cornered, Asher," Vivian spat. "Kaelyn knows too much."
Kaelyn's eyes adjusted slowly, revealing Vivian's menacing stance.
"What secrets?" Kaelyn pressed, defiance rising.
Vivian's smile twisted.
"Reed Global's empire rests on embezzlement, forgery, and blood money," Vivian hissed. "Asher's dirty dealings will ruin us all."
Asher lunged, but Vivian sidestepped him.
"Kaelyn, don't believe her," Asher pleaded.
Kaelyn's gaze locked onto Vivian.
"Prove it," Kaelyn demanded.
Vivian handed Kaelyn a small drive.
"Evidence," Vivian said. "Use it wisely."
Suddenly, footsteps echoed outside. Heavy knocking shook the door.
"Asher Reed, you're under arrest," a voice boomed.
Police stormed in, surrounding Asher.
Vivian vanished into the shadows, leaving Kaelyn reeling.
Kaelyn clutched the drive, her world crumbling.
What would she uncover?
Would Asher's empire fall?
