Chapter 2 - Levanter

The Kingdom of Cadfael was a prosperous kingdom led by the sixth king, Martius. It was famous for its honest trading commodities and its generosity, which made the kingdom grow rapidly from year to year.

Of course, the territory of the Cadfael kingdom was expanding, thanks to the services of the Virendra Fael family, who always brought victory in war. This family, which dominated almost fifty percent of the royal army, became the most respected family in the kingdom.

The power of the family was even able to create a new kingdom. Fortunately, the head of the Virendra Fael family was very loyal and had a strong bond with the previous kings. They were very satisfied with their status and never desired the royal throne.

The second-ranked family in the kingdom of Cadfael is the Narendra Fael family. It is said that the ancestor of the Narendra Fael family was a fortune teller who became a state advisor; thus, the Narendra Fael family possessed fifty percent of the wealth of the entire kingdom.

However, his descendants did not learn the knowledge that his ancestors passed down until finally, the Narendra Fael family no longer had the ability to predict the future. Then, the advisory position was transferred to the Jayirendra Fael family.

The position of the Narendra Fael family is increasingly threatened because the royal family no longer protects them, even though they are the largest taxpayers every year. Rebellion occurs every time the Narendra Fael family is careless.

Then, the head of the Narendra Fael family planning the murder of the Jayirendra Fael family to regain his position in the kingdom. However, the head of the Narendra Fael family was killed while attempting to kill the head of the Jayirendra family.

The Narendra Fael family lost its leader, and the rebellion increased. Lady Narendra Fael was killed when a group of bandits attacked her house. They lost twenty percent of their wealth, and then their only daughter took away the remaining twenty-five percent of the family's wealth. She hid herself from the pursuit of the enemies who wanted to steal her wealth.

Harin sighed heavily, wondering whether this was a dream or if indeed the world was joking with her again. But this is where Harin was now, becoming the daughter of the only heir of the Narendra Fael family who was hiding from the kingdom.

Harin felt that she had half of Putri Narendra Fael's memory. She remembered where she buried all of Narendra Fael's possessions, and also that only she and her loyal servant named Naeyra remained. Both of them had traveled somewhere for years.

The rest of Narendra Fael's most loyal soldiers also disappeared; some had joined the Virendra Fael family. It is written in her mother's book that those who were loyal to Narendra Fael hid in the Red Snow village and became farmers.

That's all that Harin remembered; she also forgot how the story of the daughter of Narendra Fael continued in the book written by her mother. In fact, Harin repeatedly read the story every day.

"Aishhh! Why can I forget the story? Damn!" cursed Harin, frustrated. Harin most to go crazy because she was in the story made by her mother, Harin hit her forehead on a wooden pole, asking Naeyra to pinch and slap her hard. But Harin didn't wake up from that dream. It felt very unreasonable that she had gotten into the story that her mother left behind.

"Princess, do you really not want to see the festival?" asked Naeyra. She knocked on the door of Harin's room, where she had locked herself in to think clearly for a while.

"No, I'm sick. Go alone, Naeyra. Bring food for me when you get home later," said Harin.

"Alright, Princess."

'Wow, look at Harin... You're even used to order people,' she muttered. Harin noticed the soft, white fingers that were free from any incision marks. No bruises or other wounds were found on her body that her stepmother had ever inflicted. Really smooth, white, and well-groomed. Like a royal princess.

'Is this the chance of life that you gave me?' Harin suddenly remembered the last request before she was shot to death; she wanted to finish the script that her mother had created. But all the goals became a mess since her stepmother went crazy.

'Is this also my chance to finish what Mom left behind?' Harin felt dizzy five times. Her body was hot again because she was thinking too hard. It felt like Harin wanted to shout, 'Just die, all of you!' because her head also twitched hard, following the rhythm of the sound that was playing on the street there.

'What should I do now...'

"WELCOMING!!! THE VICTORY THAT THE YOUNG MASTER BROUGHT FOR THE KINGDOM!!!" Harin get rid of the blanket when the sound of the trumpet grew louder. She immediately approached the window sill. This building, which feels very lively, resembles an traditional apartment building.

Everyone cheered outside and filled the narrow road flanked by two buildings. Sprinkled flower petals scattered, filling the path of neatly arranged rocks. Leading at the front was the equestrian prince, who made Harin's heart pound fast because Nathan Virendra Fael's face was really similar to the face of Nathan who had bought her.

His sharp jaw and firm nose enhanced Nathan's parage and handsomeness as he was wrapped in blood-stained armor that had not yet dried. Thousands of soldiers followed behind him. Nathan turned his head towards the right building, exactly where Harin was now. All women wore nice and colorful dresses. Only Harin herself showed up on the second floor balcony, wearing pajamas and not scattering flowers for him.

'Does he know me?' However, Nathan straightened his gaze and focused on the palace.

'I don't think so....' Harin bent down in confusion; it seemed like she was the only one stranded here. Maybe there was a reason why she met Nathan before they died and could be here. Harin stared at her sweet feet until a memory of the book she was reading suddenly appeared.

Nathan's return to his residence tonight would be attacked by a hitman sent by his brother. Nathan would be injured and fall into a coma for a month.

Harin also recalled a shadow of a secret passage that only Nathan knew about; it suddenly flashed into her memory. Harin seemed to have a vision of what would happen tonight, as if she were destined to help the man avoid his enemies. "This is the power of the ancestors, the future fortune teller of Narendra. Do I have to go there, Mom?" asked Harin. She looked up at the sky, which would soon turn into night.

Nathan Virendra Fael's brothers were indeed competing with each other for the position of head of the family, and the most dominant and influential one would be chosen by the head of the Virendra Fael family.

Her mother's book mentioned that Nathan is an illegitimate child who controls twenty-five percent of the family's soldiers. However, Nathan does not have many supporters from other family heads, so it is minimal for him to be able to become the head of the family.

Harin doesn't understand why she is in a place like this and becoming the heir of the Narendra Fael family, which is hidden. But from the memories that just crossed her mind, the first step Harin had to take was to meet Nathan. At least that's what her heart desires now. Why and how she got here, Nathan may have the answer.
