Chereads / Ultimate Spider-Man System / Chapter 26 - A Cat?

Chapter 26 - A Cat?

"I think it is better if I get away from everything for some time, and sort out my thoughts" he said, while changing.

After changing into the spider-man suit, he left through the secret entrance and swung through the city, his mind racing.

Suddenly, the System activated and started speaking into Peter's Head after such a long time of not initiating the contact.

"Host, the Shop has updated" The System said and flashed open, showing me what was new.

Over the week, Peter had made some Points and with that pinned the things he thought would be most helpful in the future.

But now the Shop looked entirely different from last week and his dopamine levels spiked, thinking about the possible Items.

Now Peter was quite overwhelms as he sat down on a rooftop and started realizing how powerful the shop could one day make him. He knew that the Phoenix Force was a Multiverseal being, and the shop gave him the opportunity to buy a part of it. "Well, I will probably not get enough points to buy most of this time's shop, but I always liked the thought of Magic, so I guess I will go with the Spell book, even if I don't really know who this yuumi is suppost to be, I hope that it just won't be something like the dark hold and corrupt me, but for that, its probably way to cheap" Peter thought while purchasing the book and inspecting it after it fell into his hand.

Peter gazed at the spell book in his hands, a faint golden glow pulsing from its cover as if it had a heartbeat of its own. The title on the front was indecipherable, written in a language he didn't recognize, but the intricate runes danced as if alive. He felt a slight tingle crawl up his arm as he held it—nothing threatening, but enough to remind him, this was far from ordinary.

"Okay, magic book," Peter muttered under his breath, flipping through the pages. "What secrets do you hold?"

The pages were filled with landscapes, painted in black and gray colors.

"Great," Peter sighed. "A Magic picture book"

He stood up, taking a deep breath as he scanned the horizon. The city lights glimmered below him, but he felt the need to distance himself from the chaos of New York. If he was going to figure out how to use this thing, it wouldn't be with car alarms and honking horns in the background.

"I think it's better if I get away from everything for some time and sort out my thoughts," he said aloud, the decision final. With a swift motion, Peter leapt off the rooftop, shooting a web to the nearest skyscraper. The book floated behind him, spinning lazily in mid-air as if tethered to him by some unseen force.

By the time Peter reached the edge of the city, he'd swung far enough to see the sprawling woods and hills in the distance. He touched down in a clearing, the soft crunch of leaves beneath his feet breaking the silence. The spellbook on his side, still glowing faintly.

"Alright, book. Let's figure out what you're all about," Peter said, crossing his arms. He hesitated for a moment, then added, "Please don't explode or open a portal to another dimension, that would be bad."

The book gave no response—at least not verbally. Instead, it flared brighter and began floating. Peter took a step back as the book opened, flipping through its pages at an unnatural speed and suddenly stopping at one Page that suddenly started to get a little color, slowly forming a glowing portal.

"Uh-oh," Peter muttered, instinctively raising his hands as if preparing to fight.

From the portal emerged a small, feline figure. Peter blinked in disbelief as a cat, sprang into view, flying to the ground and landing gracefully. The cat's blue and gold fur shimmered, and her wide, curious eyes met Peter's.

"Oh" Peter said, rubbing his eyes. "A cat?"

"I am *Yuumi*, thank you very much," the feline said, her voice sounding sightly disturbed. "And you—you're... uh?"

Peter stared at her, his mouth slightly agape. "You can talk?"

"Of course I can talk," Yuumi replied, jumping on top of the book and with its help floating closer to him. "Though, given how you're dressed, I'm starting to wonder if you're some sort of magical being such as myself. What's the matter with your... uh, skin?"

"It's a suit," Peter said defensively. "I'm Spider-Man by the way."

Yuumi started circling him, her tail flicking as she inspected him. "Hmm. You don't have mana. That's going to be a problem If you are a magical being, are you ok?"

"Mana? No, Im not a Magical being" Peter answered. "Wait, are you saying I can't use magic? What was the point of buying the book then?"

Yuumi perched on the floating spell book, which hovered slightly above Peter's eye level. "The book is mine, you cant have it. And even if, It needs mana to work, and you... well, you don't have any. But don't worry! I've got plenty, and I have a feeling deep inside of me, that I should follow you" She said while starting to snuggle to his face and purring while doing that.

Peter groaned. "So, you're telling me I spent my hard-earned points on a magic book that I can't even use?"

Yuumi purred, her whiskers twitching in amusement. "Well, Yes, Whatever these Points are you used to get the book here are gone now, but I *can* use it—for you. Think of me as your little helper to all things magical. Besides, I've been looking for a new adventure. Maybe this place has some surprises for me."

Peter pinched the bridge of his nose. "Great. My life was already complicated enough, and now I have a talking Magic cat."

Yuumi tilted her head, her glowing book flipping to a new page on its own, making her jump onto his shoulder. "Hey, look on the bright side! At least, you've got the coolest support in the whole world. Plus, I'm adorable." She said while snuggling under his chin.

Peter couldn't help but chuckle, "And such a humble one, but Alright Yuumi. Let's see what you've got. Just promise me one thing—no portals to eldritch dimensions without my permission."

"No promises," Yuumi said with a wink. "But I'll do my best."
