Peter observed as Yuumi settled comfortably on his shoulder, her tail flicking with anticipation. "Alright, Yuumi," he said, "Can you show me what you can do?"
Yuumi's ears perked up, and she purred softly. "Of course! Let me demonstrate some of my abilities."
Yuumi leapt gracefully onto her floating spellbook, which hovered beside Peter. With a focused expression, she conjured a glowing, errant missile that shot forward, weaving through the air before striking a distant tree. Upon impact, the tree's bark frosted over with golden ice.
"That's my shoot stuff magic" Yuumi explained. "It deals some damage as it bumps into the target and slows it. It also never misses."
Next, Yuumi floated back to Peter and, with a swift motion, melded into his form. Peter felt a warm, protective energy enveloping him.
"This is my other ability," Yuumi's voice echoed in his mind as a see - through yuumi on top of her see - through book suddenly came out of him. "While attached to you, I become invincible and Invisible to others, while I can help you better with my magic, as I'm not distracted from danger."
Suddenly, Yuumi's paws glowed as she cast another spell. A transparent blue shield formed around Peter, and he felt a surge of energy, his hand movements suddenly becoming noticeably quicker. As he tried it out, he found out that he became quicker in all aspects across his body for some seconds.
"These are my Zoomies," she said with a grin. "A shield to protect you and a burst of speed to help you run and fight faster for a short time, while also helping you recover if your hurt."
Finally, Yuumi prepared to showcase her most powerful ability. She opened her book wide, and multiple waves of magical energy cascaded forward, illuminating the clearing. The ground where the waves passed glowed briefly.
"That's the Final Chapter of book" Yuumi said, slightly breathless. "It sends out waves of magic that can heal your injuries while active and slow down everyone it hits but you. Quite the showstopper, don't you think?"
Peter nodded, impressed. "You've got some serious skills, anything else" Peter asks baffled.
Yuumi purred happily, "Glad you like it, and yes, when I hit others with my spells, I can give you a shield that stops some damage, and some other minor magic that helps me in my daily life" She said proudly while walking in circles on her book, holding her chest high in pride.
"Ok, that's really nice," Peter said, "But is there a limit to how often you can use those spells, and is the shield and burst of speed only on me, or is it also for the enemy"
Yuumi smiled and flicked her tail, "Well, yes and no, The shield works on anyone who wants to hurt you and does not hinder your attacks, and the Burst of Speed also slows down your enemies in your perspective, but the Shield can only last so long and the bursts only work once, then you have to wait for some time, but that doesn't take long" she said while sitting down on the spell book and licking her paws.
"Ok, so, can we test this now" Peter asks, while looking at her.
Yuumi looked up and nodded, "Sure, I'm ready whenever" she said.
Peter grinned, rolling his shoulders. "Alright, Yuumi. If you're as good as you say, let's put that magic to work. There's been a string of break-ins lately—high-tech gear disappearing from labs and stores. We're not dealing with your average burglars here. You up for a little sleuthing?"
Yuumi perked up, her tail swishing eagerly. "Oooh, I love a good mystery! Let's find these bad guys and give them what for. Lead the way, Spider-Man!"
Peter swung through the city, with Yuumi floating beside him, perched confidently on her glowing book. The warm golden light from the book illuminated the rooftops as they moved, and Yuumi looked down in awe at the sparkling streets below.
"This city is so alive!" she exclaimed, her wide eyes reflecting the twinkling lights. "It's like the stars came down to live here."
Peter couldn't help but smile beneath his mask. "Yeah, it's got its charm. Even if it's loud and chaotic sometimes, it's home."
Yuumi purred softly, her tail flicking. "It's beautiful. But we can't let bad guys mess it up, right? Let's catch them!"
Peter chuckled as he landed on the rooftop of the electronics shop that had been hit the night before. "Alright, magic cat. This is the place. The owner said the thieves bypassed all the alarms and cleaned out the most valuable gear in minutes. No cameras caught anything—just the sound of a van speeding away."
Yuumi hopped off her book, her ears twitching as she looked around. "Alright, let's see if we can pick up a trail. I'm good at this, you know." Her book floated higher, its pages flipping on their own, and a soft hum filled the air.
Golden light began to trace outlines on the ground—footprints leading away from the shattered front door.
"There!" Yuumi's tail swished with excitement. "These footprints are Very sloppy of them."
Peter crouched down, examining the glowing footprints. "That's a lead. If we follow this trail, it might take us right to their hideout. Nice work, Yuumi."
Yuumi purred, flicking her tail proudly. "Thank you, thank you. I told you I'm amazing! And don't worry, no one but you can see me—or this trail. I'm your invisible, magical, crime-fighting partner!"
Peter chuckled as he stood. "Alright, partner. Let's see where this takes us."
The two followed the trail across rooftops and through back alleys, eventually reaching an old, abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. The building looked run-down from the outside, but faint lights flickered within, and the low hum of machinery buzzed through the air.
Yuumi floated up to Peter's shoulder, the golden light from her book casting a soft glow on his suit. She peered through a crack in the wall, her ears twitching. "Looks like there's five of them. No magic—just some fancy tech. They've got a van parked inside, probably their getaway ride. Oh, and they're packing up more stolen stuff. Very villainous."
Peter peered inside, nodding. "Classic. Why do bad guys always pick warehouses? It's like they can't resist the cliché."
Yuumi giggled softly, the sound like a little bell. "Probably because it's dark and creepy. Very dramatic, don't you think?"
Peter smirked, stepping back from the window. "Alright. I'll take them down one at a time. You keep an eye out for any surprises."
Yuumi gave him an invisible paw tap on the shoulder. "Got it, Spidey. Let's show them what we can do!"
Peter slipped inside, his movements silent as he climbed onto the rafters. Below, the thieves were busy packing stolen equipment into crates.
"Move fast," one of them said, his voice sharp. "We don't want another crew stepping on our turf."
Peter smirked, whispering to Yuumi. "Show me what you can do."
Yuumi's book glowed softly, sending a faint pulse of golden light through the room. Peter noticed that they suddenly stopped moving and he got at it, that secon.
"Nice," Peter whispered.
"Thank you," Yuumi whispered back, her voice playful. "Now go get 'em!"
Peter leapt from the rafters, webbing up one of the thieves before he even knew what hit him. The others spun around, startled, able to move again.
"What the—?" one shouted, reaching for a weapon.
Peter dodged the swing with ease, taking him down with a quick kick to the chest.
"Two down," Peter muttered. "Three to go."
Yuumi chimed in, her book glowing brighter. "One's heading for the van! I'll slow him down!"
A golden projectile shot from her book, weaving through the air and striking the fleeing thief. He stumbled, his movements sluggish as Peter swung over to intercept him.
"Nice shot, Yuumi!" Peter said, webbing the man to the van.
"Thank you, thank you," Yuumi purred, her tail swishing happily. "Two more!"
The remaining thieves were panicking now, grabbing makeshift weapons and trying to fight back. Yuumi's glowing book sent out another pulse, marking their positions and giving Peter an edge.
With Yuumi's guidance, Peter quickly took them down, webbing them up and leaving them dangling from the rafters.
As the last thief groaned in defeat, Peter turned to Yuumi with a grin. "That was some solid teamwork, Magic Cat."
Yuumi floated down to his shoulder, purring contentedly. "Of course it was! You and me? We're unstoppable."
Peter chuckled, glancing at the crates of stolen tech. "Alright. Let's call the cops to clean this up. Then we can figure out where these guys were getting their gear."
Yuumi tilted her head, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Another mystery? I like it. But can we get snacks first? Crime-fighting makes me hungry."
Peter laughed, leaping out of the warehouse with Yuumi on his shoulder. "Alright, partner. Snacks first, then back to work."
