After a long day of work, they both went home and yuumi saw the house for the first time.
"So this is where you live?" She asked in amazement.
"Yes" Peter replied.
"It's so big, does it have enough space for me?" She asked curiously.
"Well, yes, but it will be quite difficult to explain to my aunt how I got you" Peter said, and Yuumi's expression brightened.
"Oh, don't worry, everybody loves me" She said, while starting to walk through the hallways and rooms.
"Ok, then, do whatever" Peter said and went to the fridge, and took out a smoothie that the fridge said would be the best he could eat right now.
Suddenly, his aunt may entered the room and saw him.
"Oh, peter, I thought you were out swinging, why are you already home?" She asked him curiously.
"I got hungry, and as you know, Spider-Man needs to eat" Peter said while drinking the smoothie and thinking about what Yuumi did earlier, as his aunt walked past him and took out some water.
"Ah, Peter, Where did you get this cat from, I didn't know you had one." May suddenly asked while holding Yuumi, and petting her head.
"Oh, uhm, I found her" He said nervously.
"Well, she is a very beautiful cat" May said while stroking her and giving her a hug.
"Ok, thank you" Yuumi said, while purring.
"Huh?" May asked surprised, not understanding what was going on.
"Yes, she can talk" Peter suddenly said, while putting the empty cup back into the fridge, seeing at the edge of his view how it filed up again by itself and stood next to her.
"What, a talking cat?" May asked, while letting go of her, and Yuumi landing on the floor.
"Yes, it's true" She said, and jumped into Peter's arms, making him catch her.
"So, you found a talking cat, and now it follows you everywhere" May said, not sure if it's a joke or real.
"Yes" Yuumi answered, before peter could and purred while snuggling in his arms.
"Ok, well then, I don't have to say that you have to look after Her, and that she has to go outside every day" May said, and went out, while looking completely confused.
"By the way, I have a name" Yuumi shouted after her, while looking up at him.
"Well, that could have gone worse" Peter said, and went upstairs, while putting her on his shoulder, and sitting down.
"So, what did we find today, as we sneaked around aunt Mays room" Peter asked, and Yuumi's book opened, after which she jumped onto it, to fly around the room and look at every nook and cranny.
"Oh, a lot of stuff, your aunt is really organized" Yuumi said, after she was done and jumped back on his shoulder, while her book closed.
"I even took this as a souvenir" she said and showed him a bra, that she carried like a belt.
"It's a very useful belt, it even has two massive pockets, maybe even too big, I think most things would fall out" She said while sitting on her butt and tried to fit a book into it, but it fell out.
"Oh, never mind" She said, while throwing the bra away, while Peter looked at her with an open mouth.
"Well, I will take it if you don't want it" he said with a perverted smile, while taking it and hiding it in his drawer, under his clothes.
"Why are you doing that?" Yuumi asked curiously.
"Uh, no reason" He lied.
"Oh, Ok" She replied.
It followed a short, uncomfortable pause in their conversation, until yuumi decided to jump on her book again and laying down on it.
"Well, whatever, I will sleep now, don't wake me up, even if it is an emergence, I need my beauty sleep" She said while cling her eyes and casting a bubble around her, that probably shielded sound and light from coming in, at least that was what Peter thought.
Like that, Peter looked at Yuumi as she floated gently on her book, encased in the glowing bubble. He let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair.
"Guess it's just me now," he muttered to himself, running his hand through his hair.
He got up and decided to change into something more comfortable. After slipping into sweatpants and a t-shirt, Peter made his way back downstairs to tidy up the living room. Aunt May had left a pile of magazines on the coffee table, and there were a couple of empty mugs she had forgotten to clean up.
"Typical," he said under his breath, smiling fondly as he picked up the mugs and carried them to the kitchen.
As he stood by the sink washing them, the bot came out again and started muttering something about self-cleaning and refilling mugs, his thoughts began to wander. He stared out of the window, watching the city lights flicker in the distance.
Before, his focus as Spider-Man had been simple: stop the bad guys, save the day, and keep his identity a secret. But now, with the advanced technology he had at his disposal, and Yuumi and her strange, magical book—he felt an overwhelming responsibility. He didn't just have the power to protect New York City anymore; he could genuinely make a difference on a global scale.
Peter rinsed the last mug and placed it on the drying rack, his brow furrowed.
"Should I even help them if they didn't ask?" he whispered to himself.
With his technology to solve food shortages, clean up pollution, or even find ways to heal diseases would be a walk in the park, but would the people even want to be helped, how he knows them, they don't know what's best for them anyway. Yet here he was, swinging around the city and stopping petty thieves like it was the only thing he knew how to skip time and push away the thoughts about global takeover. The weight of his inaction pressed down on him, and he sighed.
Grabbing a bag of chips from the pantry, he leaned against the counter and opened it. As he munched absentmindedly, another thought crossed his mind—MJ and Ned.
Since his reincarnation, Peter hadn't talked to them. Not really. Sure, he had chatted with them and exchanged a few words, but he always found an excuse to keep his distance, next to skipping school. It wasn't that he didn't care about them. In fact, it was the opposite, he was quite exited.
He knew he was not the same Peter Parker they had known, and he secretly always hoped that he could regain the memories of Peter.
Peter tossed another chip into his mouth, his gaze distant.
The idea seemed ridiculous, and yet the alternative—keeping them at arm's length forever—felt wrong. They were Peter's best friends, and he wanted to meet them. Or, at least, they had been.
He set the bag of chips down and rubbed his face with both hands.
"And MJ... What do I even say to her?" he muttered, his chest tightening.
His feelings for MJ were not there, he never understood the appeal of her in the Movies and in this timeline they probably never talked much, so should he even worry about her?
Peter shook his head and stood up, deciding he needed to clear his thoughts. He walked upstairs and opened the system while sitting on the bed.
As he worked, he glanced over at Yuumi, who remained curled up in her bubble, completely oblivious to the world. He chuckled softly.
"Must be nice to be able to sleep like that," he whispered.
Once he finished looking through the interface, Peter closed it and started staring at the floor.
"Maybe I'm thinking too much," he thought. "I can't solve every problem in the world. But... I can't ignore them either. If I have the power to help, it is not my responsibility to use it, but I should give the People a chance to be under my rule by their free will, when I show them what I can do"
He sighed and pushed himself off the bed, heading to his desk. Sitting down, he opened his laptop and started jotting down ideas. After about an hour, Peter leaned back in his chair, satisfied with his brainstorming session. He glanced at the clock and realized how late it had gotten.
"Okay, time for bed," he said, standing up and stretching.
Grabbing his headphones, he laid back on his bed and put on some music. The soothing melodies filled his ears as he stared at the ceiling, his mind drifting back to MJ and Ned.
"Maybe tomorrow," he thought. "Maybe I'll try talking to them. Even if it's awkward, even if they don't understand... they deserve to know I'm still here."
He took off his headphones and rolled onto his side, pulling the covers up to his chest. The glow of Yuumi's bubble cast a soft light across the room, creating a peaceful ambiance.
"Goodnight, Yuumi," Peter whispered, though he knew she wouldn't hear him.
As his eyes began to close, Peter made a silent promise to himself. He would find a way to balance his responsibilities as Spider-Man, his new powers, and the relationships he had neglected. It wouldn't be easy, but he owed it to himself—and to the people he cared about—to try.
With that, he finally fell asleep, the day's events replaying in his dreams.
