*Georgie's POV

I looked at Veronica, who was smiling sweetly. "I like this kind of date. Maybe we should do it a couple more times." I said as I ate my waffle.

"Yeah, right." Veronica rolled her eyes and scoffed at my words. "Hmm… why do you want to date me?"

"Why wouldn't I want to date you?" I asked back, looking at her.

"Well, I'm not the kind of girl you like." Veronica said, lowering her head.

I stared at her, waiting for her to finish her sentence.

"I smoke, I drink, and everybody calls me a slut…" she said sadly. I could see the pain in her eyes as she uttered that last word.

"Why?" she asked again, waiting for my answer.

"We've talked about this before, haven't we? Don't listen to them. They just say whatever they want to make themselves feel better than others." I said while taking another bite of my waffle. "Hmm… gulp… You're kind, you're strong, and you've been through a lot. Just do what you want and be whoever you want to be."

Veronica didn't say anything, just twirling her fork while looking down. Well, I knew how it felt. We can't stop people from saying things about us. Only those closest to us truly understand who we are, and no one else has the right to dictate what we should become.

"…You're good at singing." Veronica finally said after a few seconds of silence, changing the subject as she ate her waffle. "Do you want to become a singer?"

"Hmm, it's hard to say. Maybe if the opportunity comes, then yeah." I said. Well, I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted to be a singer, even though I had told my dad I would try. I knew I could do it, and with my voice and the songs I know will become hits, it wouldn't take long before I became famous.

Do I absolutely have to do it? Absolutely not. But if the chance comes, will I take it? Sure.

This is my second life, and I should enjoy it. I don't care if I become a singer, a football player, or the best salesman. It doesn't matter to me. But…

"You should be a singer!" Veronica said, pointing her fork at me. "You have a great voice, and, well… let's just say your face is good enough to make you famous."

"Oh, you think so?" I tilted my chin up, smirking at her. "Just call me handsome. I don't mind."

"Yeah, I'll call you cocky." Veronica said, snorting at me, which made me laugh. She threw a piece of her waffle at me.

"Have you ever written a song?" she asked.

I ate the waffle she threw and replied, "Yeah, I wrote one for my little sister, Missy." And yeah, I wasn't going to mention the song I wrote for Fenley.

Veronica looked surprised and wanted to hear the song. "I want to listen!!" she exclaimed, trying to force me to sing it right then and there.

"Hey, hey, I already promised Missy this song is just for her! You can't make me." I said, making her pout at me.

Well, I hoped that was the end of it, but my words seemed to give her an idea.

"I want you to write a song for me!"

There it is… "Why?" I asked, sighing.

"…Is that too much to ask?" Veronica asked again, looking uncertain. And how am I supposed to refuse her?

"It's not—" I was about to reply, but her face lit up with a wide smile.

"Then it's decided! You'll write me a song!"

I could only sigh as I ate my waffle, watching her smile so brightly.

*Veronica's POV

It's really not fair! Why does he always say those things with such a casual face?! Does he think his words are so meaningless?! How hateful!

I ate my waffle, trying to steer the conversation in another direction. I remembered how good he was at singing. He didn't seem interested or motivated to become a famous singer, wasting both his talent and his looks!

I was also surprised when he mentioned writing a song for his sister. Well, Missy… I've met her, and she's a lovely kid.

I tried to get him to sing because I wanted to hear his voice again, but he refused! Yes, I know! So, I made him promise to write a song. Well, it's not like I want a song for myself…

I told him that if he really couldn't do it, I wouldn't force him. The last thing I wanted was for him to hate me. If that happened, I'd be devastated.

Yeah, I know… I like Georgie.

*3rd POV

"Why isn't Georgie back yet?" Missy shouted at her family while staring out the window, seeing no sign of her brother.

"Missy, stop looking out the window! Your brother will be back soon…" Mary said, though she wasn't entirely sure. It was getting dark… and Georgie was a young man out on a date.

Mary glanced at George, who was watching TV with Sheldon. She felt his gaze avoiding hers as he looked for an excuse to keep his attention on the show.

"GEORGE!" Mary finally called out, making George grumble, "…What?!"

"Why isn't Georgie back yet?" Mary asked, with Missy running over to get the same answer from him.

"Wha…uhmm… maybe he's still hanging out with that girl." George answered offhandedly, not really knowing where Georgie was but not wanting to miss his show.

"You need to go find him, George." Mary demanded, glaring at her husband, who sighed heavily, reluctant to leave his seat.

"I'm home." Georgie's voice called out, saving George from Mary's wrath. He sighed in relief and kept watching TV.

Missy dashed toward Georgie as soon as she heard him. "Where have you been?! I want to go on a date too!"

"MISSY COOPER!" Mary's voice rang out, sharp and loud, as she scolded her daughter. A moment later, she turned her attention back to Georgie. "Where have you been?"

Georgie ruffled Missy's hair but didn't answer her immediately. "Waffle House, walking in the park, and dropping Veronica off." Georgie said casually, shrugging his shoulders.

Mary narrowed her eyes. "…You didn't… do anything, did you?" she asked suspiciously, while George, now curious, turned his attention away from the TV.

"Pfft, of course I did." Georgie replied nonchalantly. Mary gasped, her face turning red with anger as she glared at him. Meanwhile, George smirked at Georgie and subtly raised his beer bottle in approval.

"Do what?" Missy asked, clueless. Sheldon, also not following the conversation, chimed in. "They just ate and walked, right? What did you do that made Mom so mad?"

"Well, we just went on a date." Georgie said, redirecting their attention away from him. "I don't know what Mom and Dad are thinking that's got Mom so upset. You should ask them, not me."

Mary's mouth twitched slightly as George quickly acted like he hadn't been paying attention. Sheldon and Missy looked at their mother, waiting for her answer.

"Well…" Mary hesitated, struggling to find an explanation, but she came up empty-handed. "...Don't change the subject, young man! Tomorrow we're going to meet Pastor Jeff to pray for forgiveness!"

Hearing this, Georgie finally spoke up, not wanting to go. "Hell naw, why should I go beg for forgiveness just because I held a girl's hand?" he blurted out and walked to his room without waiting for their response.

George, sipping his beer, choked at Georgie's blunt remark.

"Well, I hold Georgie's hand all the time. Should I meet Pastor Jeff too, Mom?" Missy added, further frustrating Mary.

Ring!

The sound of the phone ringing saved Mary from Missy's questions and Sheldon's stare. Just as she reached to answer the phone, Sheldon's voice made her stumble.

"Oh, I know. Mom means sex!" Missy declared confidently.

"Oh, Coitus? Ugh. Sheldon said in disgusted face, finally understanding the conversation. George spat out his beer, unable to contain his reaction.

"MELISSA COOPER!" Mary yelled, horrified.

Ring!!

Mary pointed at Missy and glared at George, signaling him to deal with it.

"...You know about sex?" George asked cautiously.

Both Sheldon and Missy nodded. George expected Sheldon to know, but he was shocked that Missy did too.

"You know I'm popular at school, right?" Missy said nonchalantly.

"GEORGIE! Veronica's calling you!" Mary shouted, startling Veronica on the other end. Georgie came out of his room, shaking his head at Mary's loud voice. He could tell she was losing control and blaming him for it.

Georgie reached for the phone, but Mary stopped him with a stern look. "We're not done talking!" she hissed. After Georgie nodded in acknowledgment, she handed him the phone.

"Hello, Veronica… No, Mom's just curious why I came home late… No, it's not your fault—well, half of it is your fault… What?! Haha, we need to clean up the mess you made, right? Yeah, we used a lot of tissues there… Is it okay to use public restroom tissues? Of course, it's fine… Yeah, how about your clothes? Did the white stuff already off? Sorry about that…"

"GEORGIE COOPER JUNIOR! YOU ARE GROUNDED!" Mary gasped, shocked by what she heard, while Georgie smirked in amusement.
