At Wales Enterprises, the whole atmosphere was one of unspoken efficiency. Employees knew well never to talk in whispers, much less converse, especially when their CEO, Allesandro Wales, strode in. He should invariably enter with long, confident strides, beside him his assistant Matteo lining work with updates and orders.
Not today though… today's different.
As Allesandro walked into the tall glass building, he seemed to give up his usual glacial demeanor to wear another one—a smile.
"Good morrow, sir," a receptionist greeted him in a hesitant voice, expecting the customary nod or, at most, a bolt look.
Except that Allesandro emerged from pause. "Good morrow," he said in his cool voice, almost pleasant.
The receptionist's eyes widened in shock as she whispered to her colleague, "Did he just smile?"
